Camping Budget Project: Gr 5-8 Budget Worksheet Personal Finance
Life Studies, Home Economics, Money, Math, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Activities, Projects
Here’s an engaging, summer-themed, real-world math budget project for your middle grades students (in grades 5-8). The math project incorporates useful personal finance and financial literacy skills along with realistic budgeting. Each student in your class is going to plan their purchases for a summer camping trip with friends! How to Use: You will assign each student in your class a budget (I recommend between $400-$1,750). A $400 budget will be challenging, and the student might only be able to bring one friend and buy mainly low-cost items. On the other hand, a $1,750 budget will be much more luxurious, and that student will be able to more friends and choose many fancy items. Students work within their budgets, picking a low, middle, or high-cost choice for each category (tent, sleeping bag, cooler chairs, food and more). Certain items must be multiplied by the total number of campers while others (like a stove) do not. Students will add up their eleven choices and make sure they stay within their budget. They might need to make a few trade-offs and skip desired items to ensure they have the things they can't camp without. Finally, your students will calculate how much money they have left, and they will answer reflection questions shopping within a budget, earning more money, or buying things used. What's Included: 5 Page PDF It's Ready to Print and Go! - Title page/teacher instructions - 2 page budgeting worksheet: This includes all of the item choices and their prices. - 1 page reflection: This is a great way to start a class discussion about budgeting- an important life skill. - COMPLETE ANSWER KEY that includes a completed sample budget so you know exactly how to assess this project Math skills required: - adding, subtracting, and multiplying with whole numbers (up to the thousands): no decimals! This project could also be a great addition to a high school life skills classroom!

Coordinates in 4 Quadrants - Plotting and Finding Points
Math, Geometry, Grade 5, 6, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
This set of worksheets will enable your students practice plotting and reading coordinates in all 4 quadrants of a Cartesian plane where the numbers are positive and negative with a range of different graphic images leading up to points located on an x-y graph simply with letters. For each set of graphics (leaves, astronaut icons, geometric shapes, and letters) There are two separate activities: - Finding the coordinates of points on an x-y Grid in the 4 Quadrants - Given set of coordinates, locate their position on an x-y Grid in the 4 Quadrants In addition, for a final set of worksheets, again there are the two activities, however this time the coordinates or points drawn on the axis form geometric shapes. This provides a good starting point for further questioning or investigation that could include: - naming the shapes - drawing lines of symmetry and labeling coordinates on the line - finding the coordinate of the center of each shape - apply simple transformations and noting the new coordinates .......... How many Worksheets in total ? Virtually Unlimited, because at the click of a button all the numbers or positions of the objects are randomized providing you with a new set of questions for classwork, homework, revision, assessments etc. You could also use any of the worksheets to explain or introduce the subject to your class as you will have almost unlimited examples to work with and they will be different from the actual worksheets you hand out to your students. You will also have 2 sets of blank worksheets so that your students can create their own worksheets, or use them for the investigations suggested above Answers can be found on the second page of every worksheet, automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. Note These resources are PDF documents and work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers with the randomising buttons also working via a touchscreen (PC or Mac)or on an Interactive Whiteboard. Common Core Standards CCSS5.G.A.1 Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0 on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., 𝘹-axis and 𝘹-coordinate, 𝘺-axis and 𝘺-coordinate). Australian Curriculum Introduce the Cartesian coordinate system using all four quadrants (ACMMG143) You may also like Coordinates in the first Quadrant. Plotting and Locating Points

Converting Fractions to Decimals Worksheet: Number Line Cut & Paste
Math, Number Lines, Decimals, Fractions, Grade 4, 5, 6, Teacher Tools, Assessments, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Here’s a ready-to-go, visual assessment of your students’ understanding of decimal and fraction benchmarks! They simply cut and paste to show their comprehension of this topic. This is a great way for students with different ability levels (and English comprehension levels) to show their math knowledge: without being hampered by reading comprehension or written output challenges. This one-page assessment includes a number line from 0 to 1. Students first cut out 14 decimal and fraction pairs (common benchmarks like 1/2 and 0.333) and determine where they should be pasted on the number line. This ensures they know the decimal value of each fraction given and how to order them by size. For an extra challenge, 4 more fractions and decimals are given (such as 11/12- that are not familiar benchmarks). Students must estimate where they would be placed on the number line and glue them there. How to Use this Product: This product is designed to be a simple and quick assessment of fraction and decimal conversion, estimating, using a number line, and common fraction and decimal benchmarks. Of course, you could also use it as an activity in your unit, a homework worksheet, or a math centre. Grades to Use With: This product is well-suited for students in grades 4-6. Archimedes – Scientist Profile and Comprehension Activities Informational Text, Student Tasks & Quiz (PDF, DOCX, H5P) ⚖️🧠 This resource introduces students in grades 7–10 to Archimedes, one of the most influential figures in early science. Best known for his work on buoyancy and the principle of density determination for irregular objects, Archimedes connects classical thought with key scientific concepts still taught today. The material combines factual reading with structured tasks. It can be used flexibly: in science lessons, for cross-curricular units, or as an easy-to-run activity in substitute teaching. Students read a short informational text, fill in a profile worksheet, complete quiz questions, and – if time allows – create their own questions to exchange with a partner. What’s included: Informational text about Archimedes Profile worksheet for comprehension and reflection Answer key for the profile Quiz questions with solutions Two extension tasks: – Create your own questions – Exchange and answer a partner’s questions File formats: – Printable PDF – Editable DOCX (text only) – Interactive H5P version (text-based, no images) In the classroom: I’ve used this kind of resource in regular science lessons as well as in non-specialist cover lessons. The tasks are clear enough for independent work and provide a good balance between reading, writing, and critical thinking. The H5P version allows for easy digital use on learning platforms, especially when students work from home or on devices in class. It’s also great for differentiation: stronger students can work on their own questions, while others use the glossary or reread sections to complete the basics. Whether you use it to introduce Archimedes in physics or to practice nonfiction reading strategies, this is a flexible resource that’s ready to go with little prep. Have fun exploring the world of science with your students! Warmly, Lernfitness Did You Know? Winter Unit Rates Word Problems Digital Escape Room
Math, Fractions, Winter, Seasons, Holiday & Seasonal, Grade 5, 6, 7, Escape Room, Activities, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Worksheets
If your students struggle with unit rates, this Winter Digital Escape Room will give them the practice they need without the struggle. Rather than slog through another page of word problems, students are placed into a scenario where unit rate problems are a necessary part of bringing back the Frostbite Festival. This allows enough purpose to be added to avoid taking away from the math. Students work through twenty actual-unit-rate word problems set in four escape room winter scenes: The Snack Shack, Skating Trail, Yeti Workshop, and Penguin Performance. Students work with word problems related to cost, distance, time, and quantity from the everyday experience they realize from using unit rates. In order to progress, students must compute the correct answer and type it into the escape room. The escape room is a completely self-contained activity, which means students will not be able to progress with an incorrect answer, making this activity perfect for independent practice. One of the most beneficial aspects of this resource is the low level of work that it generates. There is no prep work that is necessary. You don’t have to set up anything, including logins and passwords and lock screens. You can just send out the link via Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, Microsoft Teams, or whatever tool that you are using. They just click and start. This autosave functionality comes in very handy during longer class times or interruptions. So long as students have had the chance to log back into the same computer and browser, they will pick up exactly where they left off. To make it more flexible, a printable version is also included. You will get a worksheet featuring all twenty unit rate problems, a matching version task card set, and finally, a full answer key. This is perfect for math center activities, small-scale intervention groups, or homework. Both the student and teacher instructions are provided and WrittenClearly, so there’s no misunderstanding or guestimation of how to do things. Students know just how to input their answers, and teachers know how to assign and use the autosave function. The skills which will be developed here include the understanding of the interpretation of unit rates, calculating a unit rate from a ratio, and using the rate in practical applications of money, time, distance, and measure problems. A winter unit rate resource that is engaging, organized, and actually easy to implement is not easy to find, but this escape room resource certainly delivers all of these things. Such a resource keeps students on task and provides a reliable no-prep resource for you to implement repeatedly.
