In this math lesson, your students will Learn the definitions of multiplication, division, and estimating Determine which operation to use (multiplication or division) to solve a real-life word problem Use rounding and benchmarks to estimate a solution Calculate the solution with the standard algorithm Think of another way to reach the solution Self-assess their skill Grades to Use With: This lesson is designed for students in grades 4-6 who are learning and/or practicing their multiplication and division skills using the standard algorithm AND a variety of other estimating and benchmark methods. It includes three-digit products, one-digit divisors, and division with remainders. How to Use: Go over the first page together as a class. Review the definitions of multiplication, division, and estimating. Then complete the first word problem together- modelling the 4 steps: choose the operation, estimate, solve, and solve using an alternate method. Then you can let students work on the five other problems independently or in small groups. They could do some of the problems in class and a couple of them for homework. I have included a quick self- assessment at the end, so you can see which steps students are confident with and which are a bit more challenging. My students often struggle to think of an alternate method to solve the problem, so I can target some small group support for that skill. Math Mini Unit: Converting Scores into Percentages This ready-to-print booklet is a real world math tool for teachers of grades 5-8. The activities inside let students practice and apply their knowledge of percentages, decimals, and fractions practically: to convert their test and assignment scores to a common denominator of 100 so that they can easily compare their learning and growth across several tasks. I find that my students love learning this skill: it makes them feel mature and gives them ownership over their learning. How to Use: This 8-page booklet guides students to calculate their scores as percentages, offering them an interesting hands-on experience in crunching numbers. The mini-unit features various problem-solving methods supported by detailed visuals, explanatory notes, practice questions, and partner-focused activities. The content ranges from dealing with equivalent fractions with easily convertible denominators (10, 20, 25) to complex conversions involving more than one-step. Dividing the numerator by the denominator is also explored as a strategy to use with ANY test score. I go through the pages of the booklet with my students over several classes. We complete some practice problems together as a class, I allow some partner or small group work, and I also assign some questions for students to complete independently. Grades to Use With: This math mini-unit is particularly designed for middle school grades (5-8) or high school special education classes who are learning about the relationship between fractions, decimals, and percentages and real world applications of these skills. What's Included: This PDF includes an engaging and easy-to-follow 8-page student booklet, along with an instructional page exclusively for teachers—making it ready to use without any additional prep-work needed. Here is how it works, students must solve 5 math problems on one interactive page. They must use the first digit of each answer to create a 5 digit code. If the correct code is entered, the mission is complete and they will be congratulated. If an incorrect code is entered, nothing happens and students are encouraged to go back and analyze their work to try to improve. This escape room is self-checking but doesn't require teacher feedback! Skills covered in this review include 6th grade level concepts that are important to expose students to repeatedly: Greatest Common Factor (GCF) Adding fractions with unlike denominators Finding percent of a number Solving one-step equations Unit conversions These skills are repeated and spiraled throughout missions, as to help students continue to remember them instead of forgetting after a test at the end of the unit! Included in your purchase: 1 mini digital math escape room (Mission 5) 5 math problems on one interactive page A printable worksheet version Answer key and final code This mini escape room activity works perfectly as a daily warm up or bell ringer, end of the day review, for early finishers, or as a sub plan in a pinch! Since it is no prep and self checking, you can easily assign it without notice. If you're searching for a simple and effective way to incorporate daily math practice and review in your classroom without overwhelming students, assign Mission 5 in your classroom!

A self-checking digital math mission built to support daily spiral review or warm-ups in 6th grade. This is the fifth mission I have available, and it is designed to take about ten minutes (easy to fit into a class period when review is due, or at the end of a day when students need to focus but time is short!) Students answer five math review questions on one interactive page, using the first digit of each answer to create a five-digit numeric code. When the correct number code is entered, the mission is finished (and when the incorrect number code is entered, nothing is unlocked, forcing students to go back and check their work). Mission 5 follows the same format as all of the other mini escape rooms above, so once your students know the routine, each mission will take very little prep/explaining before students can complete it! No prep escape! Assign and go, without creating locks or accounts. This digital escape activity is self-checking and perfect for independent, small group, or whole class. A printable worksheet version of the digital mini escape room is also included to allow for use in classrooms with limited technology, homework, or substitute days. An answer key and the answer code are provided for easy grading or review.
