Math Project: How to Make Circle Graphs and Pie Charts
Math, Percentages, Geometry, Graphing, Statistics, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools, Projects, Activities
This fun math project includes clear step-by-step instructions to show your students how to make a circle graph. This is a great way to review several math skills while showing how useful they can be! Tasks include: - Writing a survey question: Your students learn to write a question that has exactly six possible answers. - Collecting data: Your students can ask the members of your class their question. They collect data using a tally chart. They need to ask exactly 25 people. - Recording results as a fraction: Once they have their data, they can turn each answer into a fraction with a denominator of 25. - Calculating an equivalent fraction: Then, they calculate an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100. - Working with percent (written as a decimal): Finally, they turn that fraction into a percent in decimal form. They use this percent to multiply by 360 degrees in a circle (they can use a calculator for this part) to find out how many degrees each answer gets. - Drawing angles with a protractor: They carefully draw the six angles in their pie chart, one by one. - Labeling a graph: They label the graph to make it clear for others to read. Grades to Use WIth: This math project works well in the middle grades (4-8) when students know how to use protractors, calculate with fractions and decimals, and make graphs. It could also work well in a high school special education classroom. What's Included: A total of 5 pages. in PDF Format Title Page Survey Page Equivalent Fractions Page Decimals Page Circle Graph Template Standards: 7th Grade Geometry: Draw shapes with specific conditions. 4th Grade Fractions: Write equivalent fractions. Fractions to Decimals – Number Line Cut & Paste
Math, Number Lines, Decimals, Fractions, Grade 4, 5, 6, Teacher Tools, Assessments, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Here’s a ready-to-go, visual assessment of your students’ understanding of decimal and fraction benchmarks! They simply cut and paste to show their comprehension of this topic. This is a great way for students with different ability levels (and English comprehension levels) to show their math knowledge: without being hampered by reading comprehension or written output challenges. This one-page assessment includes a number line from 0 to 1. Students first cut out 14 decimal and fraction pairs (common benchmarks like 1/2 and 0.333) and determine where they should be pasted on the number line. This ensures they know the decimal value of each fraction given and how to order them by size. For an extra challenge, 4 more fractions and decimals are given (such as 11/12- that are not familiar benchmarks). Students must estimate where they would be placed on the number line and glue them there. How to Use this Product: This product is designed to be a simple and quick assessment of fraction and decimal conversion, estimating, using a number line, and common fraction and decimal benchmarks. Of course, you could also use it as an activity in your unit, a homework worksheet, or a math centre. Grades to Use With: This product is well-suited for students in grades 4-6. It aligns to 4th Grade Common Core Standards in the United States and Grade 5 Mathematics Standards in British Columbia, Canada. Division & Long Division Practice Questions - Age 9-12
Math, Multiplication and Division, Multiplication, Grade 4, 5, 6, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
A comprehensive pack of division and long division practice questions, with answers, that are designed to help kids, age 9-12, get to grips with all areas of division. The exercises include questions on: - simple division facts and mental division skills - division with and without remainders - division with a missing dividend or divisor - prime numbers - factors and HCF - dividing by 10, 100, 1000 - long division - written division problems We have devised these packs as a supplementary aid to learning maths. They have been created to help teach the problem areas that children struggle with most. Through my work as a tutor, I’ve discovered that children would have problems with particular areas in maths and would find it hard to get their head round difficult concepts. I found that most textbooks contained only a couple of pages of exercises to work through, which does not solve the problem. Therefore, I have devised some structured packs that deal with each subject in greater detail, giving the child loads of examples to work through. If they work through the packs ‘the penny will drop’ and they will grasp the concept. This is a great resource and children will love practising division alongside the kids of Mathsland High - Doubtful Darren Divides, Felicity Factor, Petite Penelope Prime and Loud Lenny Long Division. Answers included.
