Playing the Game The question slide will begin with a clue and the amount of points available for guessing the correct word with this clue alone. Students can write/say their answers. Clicking the curved arrow on the right will make the next clue appear. This will have a lower points value but gives another clue for students to guess the word on. Again, press the curved arrow for the final clue. This is pretty much a a give away ie. you put this on your head, so students win at least five points on each round. Press the arrow for the answer. A pic will also appear but immediately become semi-transparent so you can still see the clues underneath if you wish to go through them. Press the square in the bottom right corner to go to the next page. Will be harder for early learners due to the amount of reading so you may have to read it out and help with some meanings. Playing the Game After the front slide the game begins. First rounds are easier with less pictures. Later rounds are harder with up to 9 pictures at the end. Teams will take it in turns to answer. Gameplay Taking round 1 as an example. Three pictures are shown. After 10-15 seconds they will disappear. Students are to try and follow at least one of these pictures. Click the go button to begin. The three pictures will mix between themselves and end in a different position. Team A goes first. Anybody in the team can answer. Say the number and then the word. Click on the card to see if the answer is correct - 1 point per correct answer. After Team A have answered. Offer the chance for Team B and subsequently C, D etc in order. to answer. Attempt to get all of the cards answered before moving on. Click on the arrow to continue to round 2 . If you ever need to replay a round, you can press the refresh button on the left side. As the game goes on, you may want to change the rules by allocating 2 words for each team to follow with bonus points if they can answer any other words. Playing the Game After the title slide, the first game starts. In the first game there are ten words in a circle. A picture will appear and you need to press the correct word related to that picture. In the second game, there are six stars containing one word each. Again, one picture will appear. Press the correct star that corresponds to the picture. Incorrect answers will dim and correct answer will flash. Press the arrow button to move onto the next word. About the Full Game (available in the ppt game links section below) This powerpoint contains two different games. Both practice reading and remembering key long E phonics words. In the first game, ten words will be on the screen at any point so you can include those not participating in the game yet to read those. In the second game, six words are on the screen. In this Lego Themed Boom Cards resource, students will learn about emotional regulation. There are 24 task playing cards so it is perfect for a whole classroom lesson, group resource, or assigned individually. The informational cards discuss how managing one's self-regulation is about thinking about one's feelings and energy levels. In this Boom Cards deck, students will also discuss what the characters in the scenarios can do to calm their bodies if they are feeling out of control or need to wake up and learn.
