How to use this book?

Social stories are interactive books geared to teach students social emotional learning lessons. HOW TO USE SOCIAL STORIES-

IDEA 1: Whole Class- Teaching the Lesson

  1. Print out one half-page book per student

  2. Display book on ActiveBoard using Google Slide Deck

  3. Fill out the book with students as they fill it out themselves

  4. Discuss each page with the help of the Discussion Guide!

IDEA 2: Whole Class- Remediation

  1. Send student to a calming corner (calm area of the room)

  2. Have student re-read the their social story to review expectations

  3. Student calms down before you talk to them

  4. Transformative first step in your progressive discipline plan!

IDEA 3: Small Group

Great for teachers/school counselors/therapist

  1. Create a small group based on behavior needs

  2. Print out a book for each student

  3. Go through the book and fill out as each student completes their own book
