French Phonetic Alphabet- Lesson
An introduction to the International Phonetic Alphabet (French) for your intermediate learners.
The lesson:
-The lesson should take 1.5 to 2hrs to cover, but can easily be split over 2 or 3 sessions if needed. I had a lot of fun making this resource and I bet your students will enjoy it just as much!
-It's a great lesson to do if your students need a change of pace, whilst still doing something useful. These activities will really get them to think about the French pronunciation.
-You could also use this resource as an enrichment session or in an after school club with your intermediate and even more advanced learners.
It consists of:
An introduction to the French Phonetic Alphabet (consonants, vowels, semivowels and nasal vowels) + short practice activities for each aspects. (slides 1-16)
Games/ Practice activities with the entire alphabet (slides 17-25)
A final Quiz (10 questions) (slides 26-48)
All answers are provided
The folder includes:
A PPT presentation (48 slides) + its .pdf version
2 pdf documents (worksheets + version with answers)
2 word documents (editable versions of the worksheets)
14 audio files (embedded in the PPT and available as separate audio files)
Note:
Phonetic transcriptions can be subject to regional accents. The "standard" French accent from France has been used in this resource.
