2. Say the sound each letter represents to the child and ask him/her to repeat it three times. Explain that some words begin with this sound.

3. Show the child the appropriate slide from this PowerPoint.

4. Ask the child to name the things on each slide.

5. Ask the child to say the sound made by the letter in the middle

6. Then go round the pictures in turn focusing the child's attention on the initial/beginning sound: c-c-c-car; g-g-g-goat, z-z-z-zebra etc...

7. This activity is great for expanding vocabulary so necessary for later reading comprehension.
