Nonfiction photographs and illustrations

The concept of nonfiction can be very abstract, making it difficult to teach the concept. These worksheets look at the nonfiction text features; photographs and illustrations. Within these worksheets are six activities that are designed to help students understand the concept photographs and illustrations and identifying them within the text.

The first two activities are based on identifying photographs and identifying what tools are used to create illustrations, the third activity is identifying photographs, the fourth activity is identifying illustrations, the fifth and sixth activities were designed with a longer time frame in mind and can be given as homework. The fifth activity is taking three photographs in your surrounding environment and the sixth activity is looking at an image and creating an illustrations.
