About This Product

IF the winter doldrums got you down and you’re looking for a cute grammar activity for your 2-4th grade class ,  I’ve got your back with this Parts of Speech with a Winter Theme resource.

Imagine how nice it’ll be to concentrate more on teaching and less on planning!

◈    Experts in the field of grammar have said:

◈ “Grammar is the means through which linguistic creativity is achieved.”  Wilkins

◈   Grammar is the foundation of language.

◈   Grammar helps us use language correctly.

◈   Grammar gives us insight into the framework of language.

◈   Grammar helps us to understand the structure of language.

This is what’s included:

1. Fill in the blanks with the correct homophone.

2. Draw a picture of homophones

3. Fill in the blanks with the correct antonym.

4. Draw a picture of two antonyms.

5. Matching nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives and adverbs.

Personally, I can remember one of my favorite students complaining about some of the textbook grammar lessons, saying that he dreaded doing it because it was so time consuming and boring. I’ve always thought about this when teaching grammar, and it helped me become a  better teacher. I would begin each class with English Warm-ups.  Then we’d sing a song about the part/parts of speech we we're learning. Finally, we’d work on the dreaded grammar.
