Mailing out a card to a loved one is not as common as it used to be and will most likely pleasantly surprise the recipient plus the student will feel good about themselves for completing such a thoughtful project. SOCIAL STUDIES You could also use this project for social skills centers and as a basis for teaching about the changes in the world historically in regard to how people communicate much less commonly through "snail mail." MATH ACTIVITY IDEAS Also, you can integrate math activities. For example, the cost of a postage stamp and how much it would cost to send out 10 cards to friends/families (how many stamps you need to purchase multiplied by the number of stamps you need to buy). Everything from green and lavender non-religious Christmas cards to variations of Christmas cards with old fashioned type pictures, some with Bible verses, some without Bible verses. In this super bundle, you will also receive 8 beautiful bookmarks that are full color, with the option to make eight single sided (Bible verse or no) or 4 double-sided bookmarks. In addition, there is a full page of 4 extra-large black and white bookmarks telling the Nativity story, for younger children to color and cut up. The 4 bookmarks each have a portion of the Biblical Nativity story so can also be used for sequencing of events activities. Día de los Muertos Reading Comprehension Passage and Craft Activities for Grades 4th to 7th What’s inside? I created this resource with grades 4th to 7th in mind because I wanted something that makes cultural learning easy to understand, but still interesting for older elementary and middle-grade students. While designing it, my goal was to give students a chance to read, think, discuss, and create - all in one meaningful lesson. This resource includes: A reading comprehension passage that compares Día de los Muertos (Mexico) and Shradh (India) A small set of Día de los Muertos vocabulary words Pictures of both Día de los Muertos and Shradh ceremonies to support understanding A simple mask-making craft activity A scrapbook/collage project for team work A certificate you can award to students when they finish Resource features I wrote the passage to help students notice how both traditions honor their ancestors in different ways. The vocabulary list gives students a quick introduction to important terms before reading. Pictures of both traditions make the topic easier to discuss, especially for students who are seeing these celebrations for the first time. The mask-making activity gives students a fun way to connect with the lesson through art. The scrapbook/collage project encourages team work, creativity, and discussion. The activities and wording are age-appropriate for grades 4 - 7. Clear instructions are included so teachers, parents, and homeschoolers can use it without extra preparation. I created this winter-themed hat crown craft for young students who enjoy coloring, cutting, and assembling simple seasonal projects. The outlines are bold and simple, making it easy for students to work independently and stay focused.
