Many preschool and kindergarten students struggle with cutting at first, so I wanted to make something that feels fun and doable instead of overwhelming. This printable set includes grayscale pictures of animals, everyday objects, treats, simple shapes, and a lot more. Kids will cut along straight lines and curves while working on hand strength and eye coordination. All the pictures inside are familiar and playful, which will help to keep children interested and focused while they practice. There are six different bookmarks, 2" x 6" size, each with a gingerbread person working on baking something yummy. In addition to the six (6) different bookmarks, this pack includes 4 different 5 x 7 cards, two with gingerbread characters, two with other designs. One card is white with just the words, "Love - Be My Valentine" in printed in cursive, red in color. The other card contains a pair of birds kissing inside of a red heart with a blue outline and a blue background. All cards say, "Be My Valentine." Printable Chemistry Pennants – Christmas Classroom Decor I made this banner because I wanted something simple to hang in my classroom during the weeks before the holidays — something that looked nice but still connected to chemistry. These are small triangle flags, each showing one element from the main group, with symbol, name, and atomic number. The design has a bit of a holiday touch but it’s not loud or silly, so it works even if you don’t go all-in on Christmas decorations. What I like about it is that I can just print it, cut it out, and hang it up, and it brings colour to the room without much effort. The students walk past it every day, and after a while they start to recognise elements just from seeing them over and over again. It’s not a big thing, but I’ve noticed that small exposures like that can really help, especially for the students who don’t memorize things easily. I printed mine on heavier paper and used some string and tape to hang it across the whiteboard. One year I laminated them so I could use them again the next time, and they held up really well. You can hang them in a line, in clusters, or just tape them to cabinets or doors — whatever fits your classroom. Sometimes I also use them as a starting point. I might ask a student to pick one element from the banner and tell me something about it, or we do a quick warm-up based on the symbols they see. But most of the time, it’s just there, and that’s enough. It makes the space feel less grey in December, and still keeps the focus on science. It’s nothing complicated — just a printable you can use when you want something useful and a little seasonal. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Día de los Muertos Reading Comprehension Passage and Craft Activities for Grades 4th to 7th What’s inside? I created this resource with grades 4th to 7th in mind because I wanted something that makes cultural learning easy to understand, but still interesting for older elementary and middle-grade students. While designing it, my goal was to give students a chance to read, think, discuss, and create - all in one meaningful lesson. This resource includes: A reading comprehension passage that compares Día de los Muertos (Mexico) and Shradh (India) A small set of Día de los Muertos vocabulary words Pictures of both Día de los Muertos and Shradh ceremonies to support understanding A simple mask-making craft activity A scrapbook/collage project for team work A certificate you can award to students when they finish Resource features I wrote the passage to help students notice how both traditions honor their ancestors in different ways. The vocabulary list gives students a quick introduction to important terms before reading. Pictures of both traditions make the topic easier to discuss, especially for students who are seeing these celebrations for the first time. The mask-making activity gives students a fun way to connect with the lesson through art. The scrapbook/collage project encourages team work, creativity, and discussion. The activities and wording are age-appropriate for grades 4 - 7. Clear instructions are included so teachers, parents, and homeschoolers can use it without extra preparation. Printable Pennants: 50 Main Group Elements – Holiday Chemistry Decor (Christmas Theme) This is a printable banner I made for my chemistry classroom, mostly to bring a bit of colour and a seasonal touch in December while still keeping it content-related. It includes 50 of the main group elements from the periodic table, each one on a separate pennant with the name, symbol and atomic number. I hang them up across the whiteboard or on the classroom wall, and the nice thing is that the students walk past them all the time, so they kind of absorb the information without realising it. The look of the pennants is slightly Christmas-themed, nothing too much, just enough to feel like it fits the season. I’ve done it both ways – printing the coloured version myself and just hanging it up, or printing the black-and-white version and letting students decorate a pennant each. That version worked well with a lower energy group before the holidays, and they enjoyed adding small facts or drawings connected to their element. Some made it artistic, others just coloured it in, but it definitely helped with remembering. Depending on the class, I sometimes only use the first 20 elements, especially if we haven’t covered much of the table yet. But with older students, we’ve used all 50 and even turned it into a quick quiz – like who can find the halogens in the banner, or name something everyday that contains element 13. I usually print the pennants on slightly thicker paper so they hang nicely, and if I want to use them again next year, I laminate them. String or ribbon works well for hanging, and it only takes a few minutes to put it all together. It’s a small thing, but it brightens up the room and keeps the content in view.
