Australia’s Daintree rainforest is the perfect destination for Pre-K and kindergarten learners to focus on their five senses. Within the pages of this product your learners will be invited to explore the rainforest biome through sensory friendly activities. From a read-along mini book to exciting STEM activities, this product is not only engaging but also aligns with several educational standards. In the story, Fantastic Five , learners will be introduced to some of Australia’s most unique inhabitants such as the cassowary, platypus, glow worm, and bandicoot. Using colorful graphics, rhyming, and repetitive text, the book is one you’ll find yourself reading aloud again and again. Additionally, there is an interactive version of the story that allows your learners to build personal connections to learning and gives them a mini book to share with family and friends. Following their reading adventure, they’ll be in for a variety of sensory experiences as they paint with the scent of peppermint, examine the way water splashes in a waterfall, and create their very own hairy rambutan. There is also a set of interactive PowerPoint slides that give your learners the opportunity to use their sense of hearing via STEM technology. Some prep work is necessary for a few of the activities, but you will also find time-saving print and go worksheets. Both color and black & white versions of the book and worksheets are included, as well as an answer key. Below is a list of activity details for you to check out. BOOKS: Two versions of “Fantastic Five” – one a basic read-along, the other an interactive read-along. STEM: Activity 1: Two Australian tour guides will lead learners through 19 PowerPoint slides where they will listen to rainforest sounds and play a fun thumbs-up/thumbs-down game. Activity 2: learners will build a bandicoot pouch and estimate the number of bandicoot joeys that can fit inside. Activity 3: through the use of water play, learners will investigate the way water splashes from various heights. CRAFTIVITIES: #1: using glow-in-the-dark paint, learners will paint a glow worm and learn a fun rhyme #2: while listening to relaxing rainforest rain sounds, learners will use pipettes to create a watercolor masterpiece. #3: using peppermint scented paint, learners will create their own version of the Daintree’s peppermint stick bug. #4: with pre-cut yarn pieces, learners will cover the rambutan fruit in soft, hair-like spikes. These dragons are so silly and so much fun for kids to color. As is this entire dragon crafts activity pack. Kids absolutely love these dragons as well with their simple, thick outlines, they are a great way to give your students a break from their work and also be used as a reward for good behavior and an assignment done well. Since so many kids nowadays love dinosaurs and dragons, I thought it would be fun to create a dragon crafts activity pack. The simple drawings are perfect for preschoolers and prereaders. The bookmark designs, which are smaller and more complex, can be enjoyed by older students as well. There are five different dragons on 8.5 x 11 for a total of 10 posters - 5 of the dragons contain a colored example that children can follow to help with color recognition. These do not have a color border. The other 5 dinosaurs are black and white by themselves and contain a colored border. Once colored, the posters can be used to decorate bulletin boards, classrooms, and home refrigerators. They could even be framed and given as gifts! They can be printed and used again and again! In addition, there are 6 double-sided bookmarks with different geometric designs, patterns, and dragon pictures for coloring and printing. Geometry is math, so without realizing it, when your students color in the geometric designs, they are in essence practicing math skills. You can ask your students to identify the shapes and patterns on the bookmarks while they are coloring. You can also teach about shapes and patterns while they are keeping their hands busy coloring them. This can be super helpful in reducing distractibility. The geometric designs are great for developing familiarity with shapes and patterns. Plus, bookmarks make great gifts and encourage reading. The format is pdf downloadable and there are 15 pages, including the cover page. There is no need for an answer key as this dragon craft activity pack is pure fun with a little arts and crafts and math snuck in.
