With this resource Ornithology: Cedar Waxwing - Research Project, students will research the data requested and complete the chart provided while expanding their knowledge about the Cedar Waxwing. Students are asked to use science textbooks, encyclopedias, or the internet to find their information. Some of the required information to find include: Kingdom Phylum Scientific name: Coloration Beak color; Lifespan Clutch size Habitat Diet Wingspan Mass Conservation status: Length Additionally, students are asked to Describe the eggs of the Cedar Waxwing bird, describe their tail, and draw a picture of the two birds listed in the resource. Color them in. List their scientific name. (Draw their closest relative the Bohemian Waxwing). Students can present their findings in different ways: Oral presentation, posters, digital slides, brochures, etc. And they also can be required to turn in this resource! Distributive Property-Greatest Common Factor Card Game This resource is a card game for students to practice using the greatest common factor to write a distributive property expression. Included in this resource are 24 cards in PDF format. That is 6 on each page. Game Directions for this Distributive Property-Greatest Common Factor Card Game: Students should play 2 or 3 to a group. Shuffle the cards and then pass out all cards. Each person should look at his/her own cards and match a factored form to a sum. Don’t let your opponents see your cards. After confirming that your matches are correct with your opponents, place them to the side. Use two books to prop up your cards so that you can see them but your opponents can’t. Taking turns, draw a card from the opponent to your right. If it matches one of your cards then put that match aside. Continue until all cards are matched. The winner is the person with the most matches. This Distributive Property-Greatest Common Factor Card Game game allows students to practice the Common Core Standard: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.6.NS.B.4 Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. This resource is a Confucius’ Proverbs Activity. You will print out the proverb and opinion cards. Then you will draw a T chart on the blackboard with two categories, Personal Life and Education. Pair up students in groups of 2 or 3. Have each group choose a proverb and an opinion card. The students should write their thoughts about the proverb on their opinion card. Each group should attach their proverb card to the board under the correct category for its content. The students of each group should take turns to present their original proverb and their thoughts about it to the class.
