🇫🇷 Fall French Number Game – “J’ai, qui a ?” Numbers and Number Words 0–30 This autumn version of “J’ai, qui a ?” is a classroom game for practicing French numbers and number words from 0 to 30. The set includes two versions: one with the standard French spelling of the numbers, and one with the words written in syllables. The second version has been especially helpful for younger students or for those who are just beginning to read in French, because longer words like dix-sept or vingt-neuf are easier to manage when broken down. The activity is flexible. You can play with only 0–10 at the start, then expand to 0–20, and later use the full 0–30. That way, the same set grows with the class and can be reused several times during the year. I have used the game in whole-class circles, where each student reads their card in turn, and in small groups during center work. It also works well as a quick warm-up or filler activity when a lesson ends early. The rules are simple. The student with the start card begins with: “J’ai zéro, qui a un ?” The next student answers, and the chain continues until the final card is reached. Because every student has to listen carefully for their number, the activity builds attention and supports speaking in full sentences as well as number recognition. Preparation is easy: print the cards, cut them apart, and store them in envelopes or small boxes. Laminating helps if you plan to reuse the cards year after year. 🇫🇷 Fall French Domino Game Numbers and Number Words 0–30 This autumn domino game is designed to help students practice French numbers and number words from 0 up to 30. Because all the cards are written in French, learners get repeated exposure to the vocabulary in a natural way. I like using this activity during the fall months, when a seasonal theme adds a little extra motivation. The set contains 68 cards, divided into two versions. One set shows the standard number words, and the other uses syllable writing to make longer words easier to read. I have found that the syllable version is especially helpful for beginners who struggle with words like dix-sept or vingt-quatre . It allows them to read step by step and build confidence. The game can be played in different ways. Sometimes I use only the 0–10 cards to keep it simple, then extend to 0–20 or the full 0–30 as students progress. In small groups, we play competitively, with each student trying to use all of their cards first. With the whole class, I spread the cards on the floor so we can build one long chain together. Both versions encourage attention, speaking, and collaboration. The rules follow the classic domino format: players match a number with the correct number word, and the game ends when all cards have been placed or no moves remain. Students quickly understand the structure and enjoy the challenge of finding the right match. Preparation is straightforward. Print the cards, cut them apart, and laminate if you want to reuse them for several years. I store the different ranges (0–10, 0–20, 0–30) in separate envelopes so I can quickly choose the right set for the group I’m teaching. The game comes as a Powerpoint Presentation, which is interactive when put on full screen (presentation mode) There are two versions of the game: version 2 is slightly more difficult than version 1 For each version: There are 6 categories: La musique, la télévision, le cinéma, la nourriture, les sorties, le sport. A total of 30 phrases to translate: 5 phrases to translate per aspect (level of difficulty increases: first three phrases are French to English, last two phrases are English to French). model answer provided for each phrase to translate Advice on how to play: Put the PPT presentation full screen to access questions. Simply click on a box to see the question. Click anywhere to see the answer. Click on the button ‘Jeopardy’ from the answer slide to go back to the menu. The box corresponding to the sentences that have been translated will turn from yellow to blue. Students in your class take turns in picking a box (i.e: Le cinéma pour 200€) but all students should translate the phrases. Only students with the correct translation receive the ‘money’. French: Professions Memory Game

Whether you are looking for engaging resources for your French students or you are seeking resources for your students that are learning French, I have many amazing resources for you. This is a Memory Game with the focus being Professions. The objective is for students to match the word cards to the correct picture cards. There are 4 pages for you to print with a total of 40 card pairs. You can laminate these cards after you print them for durability. You can choose to play it like the traditional memory game would be played by turning all cards upside down. When a student finds a pair that matches, they get to keep their match. The player with the most cards wins the game. On the other hand, you could leave cards face up and have players take turns finding matches. This may be ideal for students who are still learning French. If they don’t match a picture to the correct word, they have to move on to the next player’s turn. In this resource file, you will find a Jeopardy game to practice translating phrases from and into French for the topic: Technology- La technology. The game comes as a Powerpoint Presentation, which is interactive when on put on full screen (presentation mode) There are two versions of the game: version 2 is slightly more difficult than version 1 For each version: - There are 6 categories: Les nouvelles technologies, Internet, Les réseaux sociaux, le téléphone portable, les dangers, je suis accro - A total of 30 phrases to translate: 5 phrases to translate per aspect (level of difficulty increases: first three phrases are French to English, last two phrases are English to French). - model answer provided for each phrase to translate Advice on how to play: Put the PPT presentation full screen to access questions. Simply click on a box to see the question. Click anywhere to see the answer. Click on the button ‘Jeopardy’ from the answer slide to go back to the menu. The box corresponding to the sentences that have been translated will turn from yellow to blue. Students in your class take turns in picking a box (i.e: Mes amis pour 200€) but all students should translate the phrases. Only students with the correct translation receive the ‘money’. At the end of the game all students add up their money to find out who has won.
