Playing the Game After the front screen the game begins. First round is short O, second round is long O. There are navigational buttons at the top of the screen. The Grid will appear with a word on the left side. Choose the correct picture for each word. Correct answer will flash, incorrect answer will dim. Coordinates are provided. They can be used for cases where students cannot touch the screen or for assessment or further practice purposes. About the Game The Grid offers a fun way to quickly practice 36 key Letter O words. In the first game, one picture will slowly appear (20 seconds long). Press the cookie in the bottom-left to begin, press again to reveal the answer. Press the arrow in the bottom-right to change to the next page. There are 9 questions in total Second game is similar but there will be two pictures appearing at the same time. Press the donut in the bottom-left to begin. The pictures will appear on the clock, press the pink clock button next to the picture that corresponds to the word at the top. Wrong answer will buzz, correct answer will make a noise and both pictures will be fully revealed. Press arrow in the bottom-right to change page. 4 questions in total. Last game will review the words from the previous game. Word is at the top, four pictures below, choose the correct picture for the word. Incorrect answers will dim out, correct answer will flash. Again, arrow in the bottom-right for the next question. 8 questions in total. About the Game This mix of long I phonics games will give students a perfect way to practice key long I words. Long I: Three Quiz Show Style Games Sample Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game After the titles and information about the game, the first game will begin. Students will be shown a close-up photo of an object and have to guess what it is. Press the = button for the answer and the original photo with word will appear. Press the arrow button to move onto the next question. 6 questions in total. Second game is a memory game. Starting with three pictures and ending up with six, students have ten seconds to observe the pictures on the screen, then need to say the words they remember. The picture page will automatically move on after ten seconds but if you wish to move on yourself quicker then there is an arrow button. In the answer screen, answers will flash if correct, dim if incorrect. Finally game is more like a question and answer, but in two parts. In the part, there will be a clue and 3-6 words to choose from. Press the correct answer. In the second section you will get the reverse, one word and then two to three clues to choose from. Choose the correct clue for the word. Includes arrows to move onto the next page. Short A: The Short Question Sample Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game This game is similar to hangman but without the hanging! Question slide will start with a question at the top. Clicking the squares will reveal letters in the word. Students can guess words or letters at this point. Pressing the question mark will reveal a picture of the word if the students are still unsure of the answer. Press the question mark again for the full answer to appear (if you haven't already finished the answer). Clicking the white box in the right corner will change to the next page. About the Full Game (available in the ppt game links section below) This game mainly focuses on the spelling of short A words. With time spent on each letter, students need to remember key short A words and if you wish to make it harder, you can ask them to spell each word, too. Playing the Game After the front slide the game begins. First rounds are easier with less pictures. Later rounds are harder with up to 9 pictures at the end. Teams will take it in turns to answer. Gameplay Taking round 1 as an example. Three pictures are shown. After 10-15 seconds they will disappear. Students are to try and follow at least one of these pictures. Click the go button to begin. The three pictures will mix between themselves and end in a different position. Team A goes first. Anybody in the team can answer. Say the number and then the word. Click on the card to see if the answer is correct - 1 point per correct answer. After Team A have answered. Offer the chance for Team B and subsequently C, D etc in order. to answer. Attempt to get all of the cards answered before moving on. Click on the arrow to continue to round 2 . If you ever need to replay a round, you can press the refresh button on the left side. As the game goes on, you may want to change the rules by allocating 2 words for each team to follow with bonus points if they can answer any other words. About the Game This game will challenge students greatly, using clues to practice short E phonics words. With a range of clues and eye-catching pictures, the pace of the game allows the teacher to control the time to fit their own needs. Eight pictures are on the screen at any one time so the teacher may want to use this time to ask those students not yet participating in the game.
