Get ready to deck the halls… with crayons! Our Color By Number - Christmas Decoration Shape Coloring Activity is here to make your holiday season a bit more colorful (and way less stressful than untangling actual lights). This festive coloring page has everything you love about the holidays, minus the pine needles in your carpet and the mystery of where that one ornament hook went. Here’s the deal: each section of this decoration shape is numbered, guiding you to fill in the perfect holiday hues. Think of it as a “paint-by-numbers” experience, but without the paint spills or that one red splotch that never quite washes out. With every shade you add, your Christmas decoration will start to look like something Santa himself might hang on his tree! Perfect for all ages, this activity is ideal for getting everyone in the holiday spirit, from kids to those "big kids" (a.k.a. adults) who still love a good coloring session. When you’re done, you’ll have a vibrant, festive masterpiece worthy of a spot on the fridge, or right next to your actual decorations. Warning: side effects may include sudden humming of “Jingle Bells” and an uncontrollable urge to bake cookies. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Math Project

Thanksgiving Math Project
Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Thanksgiving, Math, Money, Grade 3, 4, Activities, Projects

Students will plan the perfect Thanksgiving dinner with this Thanksgiving Math Project . This lesson contains two files. This .pdf consists of two versions of the math task: The first is for 3rd graders that are at grade level (or 4th graders that are slightly below). The second is for 4th graders that are at grade level (or 3rd graders that are slightly above). When I do this lesson, I use both versions. My higher 3rd graders take the more difficult version and go work in a small group. My at-grade level students work on the easier version, and we start it whole class, and then they break off into groups, as well. The second file is a PowerPoint of the student instructions and the store items. I added this one in order to make the prices editable, so that you may make them as easy or as difficult as desired. You can also change the amount of money that students start with if you use the PowerPoint. The “At the Store” shopping menu can be printed in color or black and white. I also assign different numbers of guests to each group, in order to keep students working within their groups, and to avoid the groups collaborating with one another. This way, each group has a unique task that they can present at the end of the project. This project should take 2-3 days, depending on the level of your students and whether or not you have the groups share how they each completed their task. This is perfect the week before Thanksgiving break or any time during the month of November. You get to incorporate math and a holiday celebration all at once. Also, I love to have the groups illustrate and label their finished feasts on poster board for their presentations!

As November approaches and Turkey Day draws near, it's time to awaken your students' creativity with this Thanksgiving Writing Prompt and Literacy Activities. When I think of creative juices flowing, I can almost smell the delightful aroma of turkey roasting in the oven. In this writing prompt, titled "If this Turkey Could Talk, What would he say?" students will explore the perspective of the turkey and imagine what thoughts might be going through its mind. The inspiration for this prompt came from a clever caricature created by my artist cousin, which I proudly displayed on the bulletin board—history was made as the kids loved it, and I'm sure yours will too. Additionally, if planning engaging grammar activities feels like a chore, worry not, as I've got you covered once again with a no-prep printable ELA/Language Arts package. The best part is that each sentence is Thanksgiving-themed, adding a festive touch to the learning experience.
