Chemistry Element Symbol Game – Visual Matching Cards: Christmas Theme

Chemistry Element Symbol Game – Visual Matching Cards: Christmas Theme
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Basic Science, Holiday & Seasonal, Christmas, Holidays, Winter, Seasons, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Escape Room, Experiments, Projects, Centers

Chemistry Element Symbol Game – Visual Matching Cards (Christmas Theme) This is a chemistry card game I’ve used in class when we need something more hands-on but still connected to what we’re learning. It works kind of like “Dobble” or “Spot it!”, where you have to find the symbol that two cards have in common. In this case, the cards show element symbols from the first 31 main group elements. No names, just symbols – so it only works if students already know some of them. I usually bring this out in December, when the mood in class is a bit more relaxed but we’re still doing chemistry. The game moves quickly, and students enjoy it once they understand the rules. It doesn’t need any extra materials beyond the cards. Just print them, cut them out, and you’re good to go. There are 93 cards in total, with the same content but in three different shapes: round, square, and hexagon. I printed the square version because it’s easiest to cut, but the round cards look nice too. If you want to keep them for next year, laminating helps. I use it as a warm-up or at a station, sometimes even as a competition in small groups. The best part is that students have to look closely at the symbols and make quick decisions. It really helps with recognition. Some classes get quite into it, and others play more calmly – both work. You can also combine it with coloring beforehand. For example, color all Group 1 elements the same – that makes sorting and grouping easier later. It’s not a complex game, but it keeps the focus on the element symbols without turning it into a test. That’s what I wanted when I made it – something simple that still helps them practise. All the cards are included in the file, plus a short page with how to use them. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Chemistry Flashcards – Match Main Group Element Names and Symbols Holiday Theme: Christmas This is a printable set of flashcards that I put together to help students remember the names and symbols of the elements. I’ve used this kind of thing around December when everyone’s a bit tired but we still want to do something related to chemistry. The cards have either the name of an element or its symbol, and students just try to find the right pairs. It’s simple, but they really do remember more that way. There’s a bit of a seasonal theme to the design, which makes it feel different from the usual review work. You can use the cards in all sorts of ways — I’ve tried it as a memory game, or just as a quiet task for pairs. It depends on the group. For students who are still getting to know the periodic table, I just give them a smaller set with the first 20 or so elements. For stronger groups, they can use the full set and even add extra facts to each card while they’re working. You don’t need anything special to prep the game. I just print the cards on thicker paper and sometimes laminate them if I want to keep them for next year. Once they’re cut out, you can keep them in small envelopes or boxes, depending on how you like to organize your materials. It’s one of those things that’s easy to bring in when you need something hands-on but still subject-related. The students enjoy it more than a worksheet, and they do actually talk about the elements while they play, which is always a win. You can also use it as a station or a warm-up during December lessons. All the cards are included, along with a short explanation of how to use them. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Christmas Number Domino – Match Numbers and Number Words (0–30)

Christmas Number Domino – Match Numbers and Number Words (0–30)
Montessori, Math, Numbers, Early Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Seasons, Winter, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Quizzes, Centers, Projects, Literacy Readers

Christmas Number Domino – Match Numbers and Number Words (0–30) I like using this Christmas number domino set when we need something calm but still meaningful in the weeks before winter break. Students match numbers with the written number words and gradually build one long domino chain together. The set focuses on numbers from 0 to 30. Each card shows a numeral on one side and the matching number word on the other. Students connect the cards by finding the correct matches, which also practices number recognition and reading at the same time. There are two versions included. One uses regular number words. The second version shows the words with syllable markings. I created this for students who still need help decoding longer number words or benefit from visual reading support. To make it easier to adapt, there are optional end cards for different ranges. You can limit the activity to 0–10, 0–20, or use the full 0–30 set. I usually start with a smaller range and add more cards once students feel confident. I’ve used this during math centers, for partner work, and also as a quiet early finisher activity. It works well because the structure is clear and students can play without much explanation. The domino cards can be printed on regular paper or on colored paper if you want to keep sets separate. I normally laminate them so they last for several seasons. Blank cards are included in case you want to add your own numbers or adjust the set. The design is winter-themed and works well in December lessons, but the focus stays on number practice and reading number words. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness

Winter Percents Word Problems Digital Escape Room

Winter Percents Word Problems Digital Escape Room
Math, Winter, Seasons, Holiday & Seasonal, Percentages, Grade 5, 6, 7, Escape Room, Activities, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Worksheets

While percent problems might seem easy, some of the trickier aspects of these problems can occur when the student is also trying to determine if they are calculating the part, percent, or whole. To add a little extra practice with these types of problems, especially within a winter theme, there is a Digital Winter Break Escape Room that gives them the practice opportunities that are required. Here, instead of completing a series of problems, these individuals become a character within a story that requires them to use percent problems to save the Frostbite Festival. The activity involves solving twenty practical percent word problems centered around percent of a number with the objective of determining the whole using the part and the percent in each word problem. The word problems are divided across four escape room scenarios: the Snack Shack, the Skating Trail, the Yeti Workshop, and the Penguin Performance, so it does not seem like it is all one assignment. In order to go to the next answer, the student must enter the correct answer to the previous problem. The escape session is self-checked, and the student cannot go to the next answer if his answer is not correct. This resource requires absolutely no prep. There are no accounts that need to be set up, no passwords that need to be maintained, or complex setups that need to take place. All you need is to share the link provided via Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, Microsoft Teams, or via whatever platform you are using in your classroom, and children are ready to go. This resource is also cross-device compatible. Autosave comes in very handy when the winter schedule is busy. As long as the students come back to the computer and the browser they were previously using, they simply pick right back up where they left off. It is fully printable too, which means you can easily use it as you desire. With this product, you can expect a worksheet containing all the percentage problems, a set of matching task cards, and a corresponding answer key. These resources can be best utilized as math center activities, small group interventions, or even as homework or substitute teacher activities because they are fully printable. Direct instructions are included for teachers and for students. The instructions for the teacher discuss options for assignments and automatically saving, and the student instructions show step by step how students can enter their responses and complete the escape room activity. Skills involved include calculation of percent of a number, finding the whole, making sense of percent concepts in context, and solving percent word problems. If you are looking for an easy and effective winter percent activity for your classroom, this escape room is an absolute gem. Your students will remain engaged and independent while still providing you with instant feedback and an easy substitution for sub days and review times.

67 Meme Winter Plotting Points on the Coordinate Plane Pixel Art

67 Meme Winter Plotting Points on the Coordinate Plane Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Geometry, Graphing, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities

This activity is based on the 67 viral meme, your students will go crazy. Trust me when I say that if you have ever attempted to incorporate coordinate plane practice in the winter months in the classroom, you know exactly what I am talking about: restless kids, short attention span, and anything resembling “schoolwork” gets the side eye. This pixel winter-themed project removes all of this stress from your shoulders. It provides your 5th or 6th-grade students with appreciable point-plotting practice while being different from the norm. The best part about this is how simple it is: Students put twenty coordinate pairs in the familiar drag-and-drop interface. With each correct point placed, students get a glimpse of a puzzle image hiding behind the coordinate grid. Piece by piece, the complete winter image emerges. Even those students who tend to zone out in graphing class sit up straight knowing there's going to be a reward in the form of unearthing a picture. It's not just another graphing project—it's like puzzle-solving. And the best part of this process? This process is completely self-checking. You don't have to be right there in front of the computer, adjusting and confirming if the point is in the correct spot. The lesson handles all of this information by itself. A point in the wrong spot simply means the image doesn't appear. The students learn from this process and try again. You can also use this resource in multiple ways; you can use it digitally in class practice or incorporate it in your homeward assignments as an interactive way to review. This resource works perfectly after demonstrating the coordinate graph in class for the first time, during a spiral review in the middle of the unit, or even right before class if there's going to be a test. This resource fits perfectly in class because of the wintery theme; in fact, it doesn’t cross over into anything holiday-related. Here's what's included: • Digital no-prep pixel art lesson • Twenty drag-and-drop ordered pairs with coverage of all four quadrants • Fully self-checking format featuring a winter mystery picture • Easy-to-follow student instructions • Ready-to-use environment that can be assigned in seconds Teachers appreciate that this activity is fresh and interesting yet not complicated. Students appreciate that this activity is like working on a puzzle compared to other math assignments. And you will appreciate that this process provides you with reliable data from practice without contributing more to your grading stack. This Mystery Picture Activity in math class would be the perfect way for your students to develop coordinate planes this winter if you want the students to have fun doing math assignments.

67 Meme Winter Solving One Step Equations Pixel Art

67 Meme Winter Solving One Step Equations Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Algebra, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities

If "67" has taken over your classroom talk, now is the perfect opportunity to turn it into something useful. This Christmas one step equation pixel art task is riding off the back of the viral trend "67" and giving it a purposeful spin. Rather than seeing a math problem pop up, students see a task with an end goal, something they are curious about completing right away. Students complete twenty equations with one-step solutions for both positive and negative integers. The exercises involve all basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division so that the pupils get excellent practice without overwhelming them. Every time the child gives the correct answer to the equation, a part of a puzzle with a winter scenery will be revealed to the child, and in the end, the well-known number 67 will be visible in winter colors. The digital version is completely self-checking, providing immediate feedback to the student as they complete questions. Incorrect math problems will not be revealed by the picture, prompting the student to take another look and complete the problem again. I find this feature to give the student instant feedback and to give you time to assist other students as they complete independent practice activities. To offer further flexibility, printable versions are provided as choices. These same twenty equations can be found in a worksheet form, making it simple to assign for homework or in-class work without technology. You will also see a complete toolbox of printable task cards, great for centers, group work, or a scuttlebutt rotation. A complete answer key is provided for easy assessment or review by students. This activity is perfect when done in December, when children tend to be especially energetic and have a hard time sitting still. It’s exciting enough to be seasonal and entertaining, yet formalized enough to provide actual value in improving their expertise. It’s also a great go-to activity in case of an emergency sub plan with no prep work involved. The skills that have been reinforced are the following: performing operations on one-step equations involving all four operations and developing fluency with positive and negative integers. Students are getting repetition without boredom and feedback without frustration. If you want to bring a little bit of Christmas spirit into the mathematics portion of your day while still focusing on the teaching and the learning, the Winter 67 Pixel Art provides the perfect remedy. This is easy to assign and administer, and it is impossible to ignore, in the best possible way.

Liquid Units of Measurement and Conversion Worksheets and Activities
Holiday & Seasonal, Winter, Seasons, Math, Measurements, Grade 4, 5, Worksheets & Printables, Activities, Task Cards, Word Problems, Worksheets

If you are teaching about liquid units of measurement and conversion, don’t pass up this opportunity. Your grade 4 learners will enjoy practicing and/or reviewing their skills with this concept because not only does it include visuals with the worksheets, but four delicious winter drink recipes are also provided. They are a great way to celebrate the successful completion of a math unit or build solid connections between learning and real-world applications. Within the pages of this product, you will find several types of learning activities including worksheets, task cards, and a tasty treat to top it all off. As they work their way through each page, learners will not only strengthen their skills in liquid volume and conversion, but they’ll do so with word problems, fill-in the blank, and greater than/less than comparison. Two visual aides are included. The first is a set of cards that can be cut out and used to show relationships such as the number of quarts in one gallon. The second in a chart your learners will color to give a visual representation of the size conversions starting with cups and ending with gallons. On the final worksheet, your learners will solve word problems that relate directly to the four Winter drink recipes. Not only does this activity help them learn about measurement conversions, but also gives them the added bonus of practice reading recipes. The four tasty treats great for a cold Winter’s Day are apple cider, smoothie, hot chocolate, and coquito (a kid-friendly version). Understanding the concept of conversion can be a daunting task for some learners. With this product your 4th graders will complete the unit with a stronger understanding of liquid volume measurement and conversion. The worksheets can be used as independent seat work, whole group or small group learning, or homework assignments. If your learners are in need of an activity that gets them up and moving, the task cards will do just that. Post them around any indoor or outdoor educational environment and let your learners loose to solve each of the 12 given tasks. Finally, choose one of the delicious recipes to make as a group and watch connections being made as your learners see first-hand how measurements and conversions are used in their own lives. Or send the recipes home and instruct learners to write a review of one after they’ve made it with an older sibling or adult. Fraction Word Problems Digital Escape Room

Fraction Word Problems Digital Escape Room
Math, Fractions, Winter, Seasons, Holiday & Seasonal, Grade 5, 6, 7, Escape Room, Activities, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Worksheets

Fraction problems on paper usually go over like a, well, snowball with your students; but this Winter Digital Escape Room changes that right away! Instead of plowing through problems on a page, students find themselves right in the middle of a wintery story in which their math smarts make all the difference. Their task? Unfreeze the Frostbite Festival with fraction problems embedded in four story scenarios. Students solve twenty fraction problems involving adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. With each correct solution giving the student a further piece of the puzzle and therefore the incentive to take their time and think before responding, this activity strongly encourages the student to take their time and think before responding. This activity also helps the student work independently without the need for constant checks by the teacher since the activity is entirely self-checking. The advantage: flexibility to perform calculations as improper fractions or as mixed numbers. This eliminates unnecessary frustration and “but my answer is right too” arguments among students. Then there is the autosave feature that allows students to save their work midway through the lesson, as long as they are on the same computer or accessing the page on the same web browser. There are also four winter-themed scenarios to keep things new and interesting throughout. Students will move around different activity cards of Snack Shack, Skating Trail, Yeti Workshop, and Penguin Performance. It is completely engaging and provides meaning without being distracting, which is exactly what you need when you are in the review session. This resource is the real deal in the realm of ‘no prep’ products. There is no account that needs to be set up, no passwords, and no complex installation. You simply share the link from Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, or whatever platform you use, and the kids can start working. It is completely seamless from the perspective of the users, including chromebooks, laptops, desktops, and tablets. In instances when you would prefer paper options or if you desire to reuse the problems in another manner, a complete printable version is also included. You'll get a worksheet with all the problems, a set of task cards to match the problems, and an answer key. Clear directions for both teachers and students are provided, and all can see exactly what the activity entails. Topics covered for both math and reading consist of all four fraction operations with unlike denominators and real-world fraction word problems. If you are searching for a winter fractions review that is engaging, organized, and easy to facilitate, this digital escape room meets every requirement and your students will want to solve it.

Linear vs Nonlinear Functions Pixel Art

Linear vs Nonlinear Functions Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Algebra, Grade 7, 8, 9, Worksheets & Printables, Activities

Distinguishing linear from nonlinear functions doesn’t have to be stressful and boring for you or for your students. This winter-themed pixel art activity transforms the task of identifying functions from being stressful and boring activities that bore students silly for you and your students. This is because for a long time, the task has involved hurrying through the activity on a sheet or making educated guesses about examples. There are twenty problems where students decide if the function is linear or nonlinear based on graphs, equations, and tables. This variety in representation serves its purpose. Rather than learning one concept and applying it throughout to ensure it works this way too, students make connections between different forms of the same thing. Each time the student gets it right, another section of the winter pixel art appears. When an answer is put in that’s incorrect, nothing unlocks to solve it; this forces students to go back and try again. This is completely self-correcting in the most positive way possible—with no penalty to be suffered by understanding something anew. There is nothing to prepare for this activity. You won’t have to set anything up, explain complicated instructions, or prepare anything else. Just put the digital version of this activity out, and the students can get started. It is perfect for a day when you have small groups while you are instructing, and you have the remainder of the class productively busy. You also have access to an accompanying worksheet that is printable so that you have options when technology is not an option or if you are wanting to do an assessment or review on paper. There is an answer key that you or your students are able to use if you choose to grade it quickly. Teachers especially appreciate the versatility of this activity. It can be used for class review or for independent practice. It can be used on the computer and worked on as a class, used for a quick assessment, completed for homework, or kept on file for sub plans. Early finishers can get right into the activity without further instruction, and struggling students will get immediate feedback to help them correct their mistakes. The students examine each function to determine if it is linear or nonlinear and quickly see the effect of this determination. This provides instantaneous feedback to give them confidence and conviction to move the process along. If you are trying to find a winter math activity that will reinforce an essential concept while not adding any prep or grading work to your plate and can do multiple formats, this pixel art assignment fits the bill. It is well-organized and fun to do; exactly what busy classrooms need.

Winter Plotting Points on the Coordinate Plane Pixel Art Activity

Winter Plotting Points on the Coordinate Plane Pixel Art Activity
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Geometry, Graphing, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities
