67 Meme Winter Fraction Operations Pixel Art

67 Meme Winter Fraction Operations Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Fractions, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities

“67” may have become the de facto soundtrack to your classroom, and what better way to make the most of it? The Winter Fractions Pixel Art activity utilizes the phenomenon of the obsession with the number “67” and turns it into something positive and powerful for the math performance of your children. “ Twenty addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division equations are provided, ranging from basic to more challenging, to help students master the process of analyzing fractions. Correct solutions to all the exercises will unlock a corresponding image puzzle, and when completed, the solution to all the exercises will yield the magic number 67 in winter colors. It may not sound impressive to experienced teachers, but it is an effective tool to activate students’ learning on fractions when they feel they have seen it all before. It is fully self-checking, so there is instant feedback for the student. If they put in an incorrect answer, it won’t be visible in the picture, and they can rethink their problem. It also allows them to have confidence without you needing to continually check their work. There is also instant grading since it is completely no prep. It only takes seconds to assign. For flexibility, there are printable options included too. The same twenty problems involving fractions can also be taken as a worksheet, making it easy to assign it for homework, small group instruction, or days when it wouldn’t be ideal to have devices. A complete answer key is provided so it will remain quick and painless when it comes to grading. You will also have printable task cards perfect for math workshop, partners, or stations. Whether teaching online, offline, or a combination of both, this fits right in. This activity is best done in December and January when the attention span of the class is smaller and they need something just a bit different to hold their attention. It’s been formalized enough to provide for review days, casualized for centers, and stable enough to remain in your sub folder. Early finishers could complete this independently, and intervention groups could practice without becoming bombarded. Skills that have been reinforced include adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, multiplying fractions, and dividing fractions. This way, students experience relevant repetition without feeling burned-out with fraction operations. A winter activity for your math class that offers fun along with learning and doesn’t contribute anything to your busywork is this fractions pixel art activity with a theme related to the number 67.

I Have, Who Has? – Chemistry Element Symbols Game - Christmas Edition

I Have, Who Has? – Chemistry Element Symbols Game - Christmas Edition
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Basic Science, Holiday & Seasonal, Christmas, Holidays, Winter, Seasons, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Escape Room, Experiments, Projects, Centers

I Have, Who Has? – Chemistry Element Symbols Game - Christmas Edition I started using this game as a simple way to review the periodic table, especially the main group elements. Over time, it’s become one of those go-to activities that just work – low prep, easy to explain, and students are surprisingly focused once it gets going. The idea is simple: each student gets one or more cards. A card might say, “I have Na. Who has the symbol for Oxygen?” Whoever has the right answer reads their card next, and the round continues until all cards are used. It’s nothing fancy, but it gets students speaking, listening, and thinking about element names and symbols without it feeling like a quiz. What I like is that you can use the game in different ways, depending on the class. In some groups, I stick to the first 20 elements. In others, we go all the way up to element 118. There are also versions where only the names are shown, only the symbols, or a mix of both – so you can adjust the difficulty. I’ve used it with students from grades 8 to 11, sometimes as a warm-up, sometimes as a review at the end of a unit. The materials are printable and easy to store. I’ve printed mine on colored paper to help sort the different versions. Laminating helps if you plan to reuse the cards from year to year, but even unlaminated sets hold up pretty well for a few rounds. It’s a quiet way to reinforce chemistry basics, especially when students need to move a bit or when you want to switch things up without losing content. In my experience, even students who usually hang back tend to join in, since the rules are simple and everyone has a role. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Periodic Table Elements Domino Game – Christmas Chemistry Activity

Periodic Table Elements Domino Game – Christmas Chemistry Activity During the last week before winter break, I like to keep my lessons calm but still connected to content. This chemistry domino game has worked well in that context. It gives students a chance to revisit the periodic table in a light way, without feeling like they’re doing a full review worksheet. The game is made up of cards that show either the name of an element or its chemical symbol. Students connect the matching parts, so that the end of one card links to the start of the next, just like with a regular domino set. I included all 118 elements, from Hydrogen to Oganesson, so there’s enough variety for most grade levels. Depending on the group, I sometimes let them use a periodic table as support. In other classes, we turn it into more of a memory challenge. Some students take it seriously and try to build the longest chain, others enjoy working in pairs or small groups just to go over what they remember. The cards have a light seasonal theme, which fits well with December lessons. They can be printed on heavier paper, and I usually store them in envelopes or folders by element groups if I want to use them again the next year. No extra materials are needed beyond scissors and maybe a bit of tape or a surface to build on. The setup doesn’t take long, and the atmosphere is usually relaxed. Students still talk about chemistry, especially when they help each other with tricky symbols. It works well in classes where energy is low but you still want them engaged in something subject-related. All the cards and a short set of instructions are included. I’ve used it in different grade levels, and it’s easy to adjust depending on time and ability. A simple idea, but one that helps bring chemistry into the room in a different way. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we create a positive and welcoming learning environment. 🐶

Linear vs Nonlinear Functions Pixel Art

Linear vs Nonlinear Functions Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Algebra, Grade 7, 8, 9, Worksheets & Printables, Activities

Distinguishing linear from nonlinear functions doesn’t have to be stressful and boring for you or for your students. This winter-themed pixel art activity transforms the task of identifying functions from being stressful and boring activities that bore students silly for you and your students. This is because for a long time, the task has involved hurrying through the activity on a sheet or making educated guesses about examples. There are twenty problems where students decide if the function is linear or nonlinear based on graphs, equations, and tables. This variety in representation serves its purpose. Rather than learning one concept and applying it throughout to ensure it works this way too, students make connections between different forms of the same thing. Each time the student gets it right, another section of the winter pixel art appears. When an answer is put in that’s incorrect, nothing unlocks to solve it; this forces students to go back and try again. This is completely self-correcting in the most positive way possible—with no penalty to be suffered by understanding something anew. There is nothing to prepare for this activity. You won’t have to set anything up, explain complicated instructions, or prepare anything else. Just put the digital version of this activity out, and the students can get started. It is perfect for a day when you have small groups while you are instructing, and you have the remainder of the class productively busy. You also have access to an accompanying worksheet that is printable so that you have options when technology is not an option or if you are wanting to do an assessment or review on paper. There is an answer key that you or your students are able to use if you choose to grade it quickly. Teachers especially appreciate the versatility of this activity. It can be used for class review or for independent practice. It can be used on the computer and worked on as a class, used for a quick assessment, completed for homework, or kept on file for sub plans. Early finishers can get right into the activity without further instruction, and struggling students will get immediate feedback to help them correct their mistakes. The students examine each function to determine if it is linear or nonlinear and quickly see the effect of this determination. This provides instantaneous feedback to give them confidence and conviction to move the process along. If you are trying to find a winter math activity that will reinforce an essential concept while not adding any prep or grading work to your plate and can do multiple formats, this pixel art assignment fits the bill. It is well-organized and fun to do; exactly what busy classrooms need.

Chemistry Element Symbol Game – Visual Matching Cards (Christmas Theme) This is a chemistry card game I’ve used in class when we need something more hands-on but still connected to what we’re learning. It works kind of like “Dobble” or “Spot it!”, where you have to find the symbol that two cards have in common. In this case, the cards show element symbols from the first 31 main group elements. No names, just symbols – so it only works if students already know some of them. I usually bring this out in December, when the mood in class is a bit more relaxed but we’re still doing chemistry. The game moves quickly, and students enjoy it once they understand the rules. It doesn’t need any extra materials beyond the cards. Just print them, cut them out, and you’re good to go. There are 93 cards in total, with the same content but in three different shapes: round, square, and hexagon. I printed the square version because it’s easiest to cut, but the round cards look nice too. If you want to keep them for next year, laminating helps. I use it as a warm-up or at a station, sometimes even as a competition in small groups. The best part is that students have to look closely at the symbols and make quick decisions. It really helps with recognition. Some classes get quite into it, and others play more calmly – both work. You can also combine it with coloring beforehand. For example, color all Group 1 elements the same – that makes sorting and grouping easier later. It’s not a complex game, but it keeps the focus on the element symbols without turning it into a test. That’s what I wanted when I made it – something simple that still helps them practise. All the cards are included in the file, plus a short page with how to use them. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Gobble up some laughs with the If I Were a Turkey Writing Prompt! This Thanksgiving activity is perfect for kids with big imaginations and even bigger senses of humor. It’s a writing and drawing adventure that asks the all-important question: What would life be like as a turkey? Spoiler alert: It’s not all stuffing and gravy! Students will dive into the feathered life, describing their turkey alter ego. Will they be the class clown of the farm, the stealthiest turkey avoiding Thanksgiving dinner, or a celebrity turkey with fans lining up for selfies? The possibilities are as endless as a buffet line. This activity encourages descriptive writing, creativity, and maybe a little sympathy for our fine feathered friends. After writing, it’s time to add some artistic flair. Kids can draw themselves as turkeys, fancy feathers, silly hats, or maybe even a disguise to stay off the dinner table. Markers, crayons, and a sprinkle of imagination will turn these turkeys into stars of the season. Perfect for classrooms or at home fun, this activity is a hilarious way to bring Thanksgiving to life from a turkey’s perspective. Warning: You may find yourself laughing so hard you’ll start reconsidering that veggie option for dinner! Enjoy!
