Anger and Calming Strategies Bingo Board
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Special Education Needs (SEN), Social Skills, Not Grade Specific, Activities

Managing anger can be challenging for children. This bingo game provides a unique and engaging approach for teaching calming strategies to help children handle frustrating emotions. The set includes 3 different bingo boards each with 9 squares. Each square features a different calming technique like deep breathing, listening to music or going to a safe space. Children can use the blank board to fill in their own ideas or user the suggested strategies. Playing is simple - when feelings of anger arise, children use one of the calming methods and then mark off the matching square on their board. The goal is to complete rows horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, just like regular bingo. Not only does this provide motivation to try different strategies, but also gives a sense of accomplishment. Anger Bingo transforms a classic game into a tool for building emotional intelligence. It’s an excellent way to introduce anger management skills or reinforce concepts learned. Children feel empowered taking an active role to soothe themselves. Plus, by completing the boards, they’ll discover new coping methods tailored to their needs. This versatile resource works for individual and group settings with children of varying ages and abilities. Included in this resource are 3 PDF bingo boards. This resource was developed to partially meet the requirements of the 8th Grade Statistics & Probability standards below (portions met in bold): CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.SP.A.2 Know that straight lines are widely used to model relationships between two quantitative variables. For scatter plots that suggest a linear association, informally fit a straight line, and informally assess the model fit by judging the closeness of the data points to the line. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.SP.A.3 Use the equation of a linear model to solve problems in the context of bivariate measurement data, interpreting the slope and intercept. For example, in a linear model for a biology experiment, interpret a slope of 1.5 cm/hr as meaning that an additional hour of sunlight each day is associated with an additional 1.5 cm in mature plant height.

Clip It and Flip It - Counting Firetrucks

Clip It and Flip It - Counting Firetrucks
Math, Early Math, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities

Engaging Hands on Math Activity for Pre-K and Kindergarten, even Beginning First. Also good for ESL, Resource, or SPED. Counting Firetrucks Clip It and Flip It it is an easy to make and use resource. It includes counting task cards with self-checking independence. Answers are printed on the back of these cards with double-sided printing. When using this Counting Firetrucks Clip It and Flip It resource, students will count the firetrucks on the card and attach a clothespin or clip to their answer. After clipping, they flip the card to check the answer. Great for fine motor development. Use this activity in your math centers or small groups. Put the cards and some clips in task boxes or individual work baskets. This is also a good take home or early-finisher activity. EASY clean up. I teach my students to take all the cards and the clips out of the task box. As they clip, flip, and check their answer, they put the card back IN the box! They use the same clip over and over. Included in this Counting Firetrucks Clip It and Flip It are 20 clip it and flip it cards and one task box label. 4 cards per page. Cards are made with straight-line cutting; which makes it easier for you. Large cards, with the clip selection at the bottom, making it easier for left- or right-handed students. Clip it and Flip it cards help develop/strengthen fine motor skills while working on counting and number recognition. I print cards on heavy card stock, laminate for durability, and cut. I place all cards with 3 or 4 clothespins in a task box to add to my center selections. My students LOVE Clip and Flip cards! Teachers love the ease of use and so easy to swap out sets of cards to keep centers interesting and students engaged. One teacher even used them as an assessment tool - she had students in a small group at her table, and gave them each a few cards and transparent counters. She used a checklist for marking. You will download a PDF of 17 pages. Print pages 6 through 17 double-sided. If your printer does not allow double-sided printing, print odd pages first, then place them in the printer and print even pages.

The Bee Picture Craft is a fun resource for young children to complete; as part of a science unit on insects, to welcome spring, or simply to put into practice their fine motor skills! Ways to use the Bee Craft Activity: It can be used for art class, or for the study of insects. It could even become a class frieze as individual children work together to create an enormous hive - some making worker bees (smaller in size), others could make the queen (only 1 in each hive) and others still, the drones (Males) and all helping to make the cells. The teacher can then turn the frieze into a Word Wall, adding the necessary vocabulary: hive, queen, drone, worker, cells, honey, nectar, pollen etc.... It would certainly cheer the classroom and educate the children at the same time! Math could be studied as children found that the hexagons tessellate and this could give way to further exploration of the meaning go the word tesselate. Children can be stimulated to awe and wonder to learn of the ways of such a small creature. How can such a tiny thing create such perfect hexagons and work together so wonderfully to maintain the work and life of the hive? Full Instructions for making a vibrant picture of 3D bees on a hive are given. You will need: ·Black paper or card ·Yellow or orange paper ·White paper ·Glue stick ·Scissors ·Black felt tip pen ·Hexagon and bee templates (which are provided) This activity is suitable for Grade 1 (Y2) and upwards. A total of 12 steps are included in the instructions. This activity is best implemented in small groups where the teacher, assistant, or parent is readily available to step in and help students. Older students may be able to work independently. During completion: name the parts of the bee such as: wing, thorax, head, abdomen, antennae, and those of the hive: cells, honeypots etc... wax. After completion: encourage students to name the parts of the bee while describing their own bee.
