Two ways to do this is by incorporating topics they are interested in and by providing them with hands-on activities. This is a Matching Objects to Shapes Activity that is great for your 1st and 2nd grade students. You can use this to introduce shapes or review it for students who have already mastered shape identification. It is a 5-page printable. You may choose to print copies of each page for every student to complete as a cut and paste activity . It may also be good to print a few copies and laminate them for repeated use. If you choose to laminate them, you can attach Velcro dots to the cut-outs so students can match them up. On the first three pages, you have 3 shapes per each page.
