These vegetable themed number cards are perfect for students who are learning with a food theme. They make the perfect tool for students to learn numbers up to 20. What is Included: This set includes one number card and one number word card for all numbers up to 20. Ideas for Using the Number Cards: Invite students to play a matching activity by pairing each number with its corresponding number word. Turn the cards into a hands on fishing game by attaching paper clips and using a magnetic fishing rod for students to “catch” the numbers. Place the cards in a sand or salt tray so students can trace or write the numbers and number words for tactile practice. Hide the cards around the classroom and have students go on a number scavenger hunt to find and identify each one. Challenge students to arrange the cards in correct numerical order, working independently or as a group. Use a pocket chart to create a guessing game by placing the cards in the chart and hiding a picture behind one number. Students take turns guessing which number is hiding the picture. Add small manipulatives (such as counters, cubes, or pom-poms) and have students count objects to match the number shown on each card. When to Use: Math Centers – Add the number cards to a math center for students to practice matching independently or with a partner. Morning Tubs or Baskets – Place the number cards in a morning bin for students to work on as classmates arrive. You can give them out to students for good behavior as part of your classroom management system or as rewards for reaching goals. They can trade them or earn more to create a larger collection. Students will be so excited to collect all the different pets! I have included one set with point values and one set without point values. My 3rd grade daughter thought up this unique twist on the popular "desk pets" and we both hope your students will love it! How To Use This: Choose whether you want weighted trading cards or just regular trading cards. Print the set out on card stock so they'll last longer. Carefully cut them apart. Laminate the cards and cut them apart again. Give each student a small box or envelope where they can store their cards. Hand them our as behavior rewards or when they accomplish or finish a task or goal. You might designate specific times for trading so that students don't get distracted during class. If you print multiple sets then you can encourage kids to collect the whole set or a large set of cards. You'd be shocked at what kids are willing to do to earn another one of these adorable pet cards!
