CVC Words, Read, Match and Spell
Special Resources, ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Kindergarten, Preschool, Activities

Read, Match and Spell is an activity I made for one of my pupils to give fun practice of reading and sounding out CVC words. All the pupil has to do is choose a word, find the matching picture and then spell out the word using magnetic letters (not provided!) This activity is great for the less confident child as s/he is not presented with a blank piece of paper which can be rather daunting. All that is required is that child choose a word, and sound it out. Once the word has been read, the matching picture can be found. For maximum benefit. Do have the child sound out the word, rather than just copying the word as s/he 'writes it using the magnetic letters. Who is this activity for? For any child that is learning to sound out CVC words with a short vowel sound. Early years children will be very suited to the activity. How can it be used? It can be used with individual children, groups or in a literacy centre. You can even use the baseboard as a worksheet and let the child write the sound in the spaces. The teacher can choose which sounds are given to the child to work with, either a, e, i, o, or u. The teacher can choose to give the child practice in just one sound, or the sounds can be intermingled according to the needs of the child. What is included in the download? A baseboard which can be printed as many times as required. Five sheets of letters and pictures, 6 for each vowel. My pupil enjoyed playing this activity and I hope it helps others too! CVC Words Read and Reveal Blending Cards Short E Words
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Worksheets & Printables, Flashcards

Allow students to independently practice blending and reading CVC words with these Short E CVC Word Read and Reveal Cards! Teachers will love the independent nature of these cards! What is Included: There are 26 CVC words included in this packet, all with the short E vowel sound in the middle. Included in the packet are illustrated directions on how to put the cards together. How to Use: Students will get a card for the pile. Students will practice reading the word on the card, using the dots and arrows as a finger guide to reading the word. Once they feel confident that they know the word they read, they will open the card to reveal a picture of the word they read. When to Use: Literacy Center - Students can work independently or with a partner to read these short e words. Morning Tub or Basket - The cards can be placed in a morning bin for students to work on as students arrive to class. Small Group Activity - The teacher can choose a small group of students or a specific group of words for students to work on in a small group setting with the teacher. The fact that the teacher can easily choose which words to include inside a center or activity, allows the teacher to easily differentiate this activity for her students. The bold, colorful, easy to recognize pictures allow students to complete this center independently, by providing pictures they should already recognize that match the words they are practicing to read. The cards do require some prep work to put together, but once created, they will provide a long term center or activity for your classroom. They need to be printed, cut apart and folding into thirds to create the read and reveal nature of this activity.

Does a trip to a heavily-decorated mall let you know that Santa is coming? Take the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with your students by talking about their holiday traditions. *****Our lessons focus on practical day to day language, while providing an array of vocabulary words that teach students how to speak with a native flair. The design of each lesson plan is to encourage open conversation with students. Our lessons typically follow the same format. Each topic or lesson plan will begin with a series of warm-up questions, followed by an initial introduction of ten vocabulary words, and a fill in the blank in exercise. The second half of the lesson will include an additional series of questions, five more vocabulary words and a post lesson writing assignment. All of this is designed to make the lesson extremely interactive and encourage students to converse freely, while providing vocabulary focused tasks and an engaging topic. Each lesson will have an article or video referenced that will introduce the main theme or topic of the lesson. Please be advised that some of these articles have a paywall or limited monthly access. However, there is usually a work around. We hope these lessons plans will make your life easier and help build a deeper bond between you and your students. ********

It’s simple, visual, and perfect for younger learners who are learning cursive handwriting for the first time! This 27-page pack includes a full alphabet reference page that shows letters A-Z at a glance, plus 26 individual letter posters.. I suggest you print them on color card stock paper for a bright, engaging display. They’re perfect for grades 2–5, homeschool rooms, or any classroom that’s bringing back cursive handwriting practice in a meaningful way. (Did you know 24 states now require cursive writing to be taught!) Think of this as both a teaching tool and classroom decor, it works beautifully as an anchor chart, handwriting center reference, or bulletin board display. You can print the full alphabet as a poster set, or just add a few letters at a time as you teach them. If you’ve got students who are struggling with cursive letter formation, this visual guide helps by using starting dots and directional arrows that show students exactly how to write each letter. Cursive can feel intimidating for kids at first, but these posters take the confusion out of it. They’re clean, easy to read, and designed to help students feel successful right away.
