Practicing Wonders Words to Know is often a bit of a boring task for most students. That's why we made it a bit more fun. First of all, you can guide students through the book along with the vocabulary list. Here it shows the part of speech, the word, the definition and an example sentence. This way, students don't even need their books anymore to practice all of the words at home. Another fun element is the word search. This word search is based on the definitions, so the student is not given the correct answer right away. This way, they really have to dig into their memories to come up with the correct answer. After all of the practicing is done, it is time to do the test. You can present this by first giving the definition and then to let the student fill out the correct answer. The second part is a fill in the blanks exercise.

Winter Olympics Themed Mixed Operations Math Task Cards are a set of task cards with addition and subtraction multiplication and division word problems revolving around the Winter Olympic games. There are 12 addition/subtraction problems and 12 multiplication/division problems. Some are single step, some are multi-step. There are large versions for a classroom hunt or display, small task-card size versions (with an answer sheet for scoots), and a link to digital Google Slides version for paper-less classroom or virtual classrooms. Use these as word problems to put up around your room and have students answer, or use the task cards in a scoot/small group or assign them digitally using the digital versions included. These can also be used in math centers , group times, or as formative assessments. It is recommended that you print the size you want (full-sized or task card sized) and laminate them for future use. To make them even sturdier, print them on card stock before laminating. This is a ready-to-use resource for students to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in an engaging manner as it covers a variety of Winter Olympic sports. An answer key is provided with this product. They are written based on the VA Math SOL 3.3 (addition and subtraction) and VA Math SOL 3.4 (multiplication and division) but work for any grade level doing mixed operation word problems. Getting kids to enjoy writing during the early elementary years is key. One way we can do that is to tie in their interests to the writing process. School memories include our teachers, classes, and fun events that happened, but when we give our students (and a helpful matrix) to put together a narrative writing piece about an odd teacher, a subject they love, something wild that happened, and how they feel about it, the story really gets interesting! Including the appropriate sequence of events, as well as a conflict is key. Thinking about the way we think is a foundational skill for growing the executive functions our kiddos will use in the editing process. For this reason, a short checklist has been included at the end of page 4 so that learners can begin to go back and check their work. This key skill in developing healthy executive functioning is intentionally made visible to students to prompt ownership over the quality of their writing. These activities can be used with a whole class in addition to the writing challenge printable. This printable is optimal for 2nd-5th graders who enjoy learning about space and demonstrating their knowledge of it. By using the included matrix to choose the setting, challenge, and characters in their story, they'll use the freedom afforded them to create something they love. *Note, some learners may require a basic explanation of what stocks, investments, and savings accounts are.
