Homophones Grammar Practice MCQS Snapshot Title: Homophones . Genre: Instructional workbook / practice worksheets . Subject: Reading / Language Arts . Primary Topic: choosing correct homophones in sentence context . What This Teaches Best Teaches the concept of homophones directly by defining them as words with the same pronunciation but different spellings and meanings. Gives repeated practice choosing the correct spelling from sentence context, including sets such as there/their/they’re and to/too/two . Reinforces proofreading and usage accuracy with commonly confused words. Supports review and self-checking through an example sheet and answer keys. Learning Goals Students will identify homophones that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings. Students will use sentence context to choose the correct homophone. Students will distinguish commonly confused word pairs and sets in writing. Students will explain how spelling changes the meaning of a sentence. Students will improve editing accuracy with frequently confused words. Key Vocabulary From the Text homophones — words that sound alike but differ in spelling and meaning. heir — person who receives money or property later. scent — a smell. rein — a strap used to guide a horse. aisle — a passage between rows or shelves. Common Core Alignment (if applicable) CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.4.1g — correctly using frequently confused words directly matches the packet’s homophone practice. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.5.2e / L.6.2b / L.7.2b — correct spelling work is also directly supported because students must choose the correct written form in context. Homophones Overview: sent, scent, cent accept, except, eccept thru, through, threw, here, ear, hear bored, board, bord they're, their, there day's, days, daze horse, hoarse, oars FILLABLE PDF VERSION Worksheet-style pages, but with type-in answer boxes so students can complete and save their work digitally.
