In this 24-playing card SEL Boom Deck, students will play the rock, paper, scissors game and practice sharing their feelings! If playing for a whole class lesson, 2 students come up to the Smartboard or projector and one is person A and the other is person B. Person A touches the disappearing question mark above A to reveal either a rock, paper, or scissors image. Person B does the same. Then the winner of the rock, paper, scissors card game will share a time they felt the feeling below the winning card (either A or B). Students can also act out the feeling as well. The winner then drags and drops the feeling onto the stage where the image will disappear. The person who lost the game will stay at the board until they also get a turn. You can play this as a whole class, center activity, or with partners-it is up to you! The directions are for a whole classroom lesson but you can tweak it to work for your class and your lesson planning. This zip file contains anything you'll need to create a Outer Space / Galaxy themed classroom. I've seen this used by lots of science teachers- if that's you, you might not need all the calendar stuff, but there are plenty of templates included! Elementary teachers, of course you have everything you need for your classroom. Perfect for all grade levels, teachers can print everything out in color- best done on card stock for some items such as calendar cards. Also, Items such as number lines are created to be printed on 8.5x11 paper since that's what we would normally have at school/home. The number line can be easily printed out, taped together, and then laminated. Everything comes in POWERPOINT format. The PowerPoint files are technically editable because you can add a text box and add whatever font you'd like but there's a separate file called editable if you want that! The PDFs are only editable if you have a PDF editor installed on your computer. Allow students to independently practice blending and reading words with these diphthong Read and Reveal Cards! Teachers will love the independent nature of these cards! The self-correcting feature on the cards allow students to check their reading. What is Included: There are 12 diphthong words included in this packet. Included in the packet are illustrated directions on how to put the cards together. The diphthongs included in this set are: oi and oy. How to Use: Students will get a card for the pile. Students will practice reading the word on the card, using the dots and arrows as a finger guide to reading the word. Once they feel confident that they know the word they read, they will open the card to reveal a picture of the word they read. When to Use: Literacy Center - Students can work independently or with a partner to read these words Morning Tub or Basket - The cards can be placed in a morning bin for students to work on as students arrive to class. Small Group Activity - The teacher can choose a small group of students or a specific group of words for students to work on in a small group setting with the teacher. The fact that the teacher can easily choose which words to include inside a center or activity, allows the teacher to easily differentiate this activity for her students. The bold, colorful, easy to recognize pictures allow students to complete this center independently, by providing pictures they should already recognize that match the words they are practicing to read. The cards do require some prep work to put together, but once created, they will provide a long term center or activity for your classroom. They need to be printed, cut apart and folding into thirds to create the read and reveal nature of this activity.

Here's an engaging way for your class to practice place value with decimal numbers from tenths to the millionths. All you need are a die, a counter, and the printed game pages! Students attempt to make the largest (or smallest) decimal number possible as digits are generated one at a time! • This lesson can work for many grades: you can play just tenths all the way to millionths! • It's a simple game, but it encourages strategy and critical thinking. • A super way to reinforce decimal concepts such as ordering and rounding. • Complete instructions and a sample round are included. How to Play: 1) Choose which place value you will practice with your class from tenths to millionths. 2) For the first round, choose if students are making the smallest or largest number they can. 3) Assign 1 side of the counter as zero and the other will indicated rolling the die. 4) Flip the coin or counter. Students must choose where to put the digit or the zero. 5) IMPORTANT: Numbers can not be moved after they are placed. 6) Continue this pattern until all the digits have been filled. Survey your class to see who made the largest or smallest number! 7)Now you can complete all sorts of math tasks: Order the numbers your students made. Round the numbers to the nearest one, tenth, or hundredth. Convert some decimals to fractions. Read the numbers accurately aloud. Once you have played around with the. numbers, play a second round. You can continue to try for the smallest number or change to trying to get the largest number.
