The 7 steps are: o Topic: Help your students choose a topic and then narrow it down. This way your students will be invested in this project because it is about something that interests them! o Question: Brainstorm questions about that topic that need math to be solved. Help guided your students to a question that will have more than one step to solve. o Skills: Practice/learn skills needed to answer the question. Your students can use math websites like IXL, youtube videos, or their textbook to learn/review skills. o Research: Complete research to find necessary information. Students will need to find science and technology information to answer many of their questions. o Math: Put the skills and research together to find the answer! o Present: Think of a creative way to present the solution to the class. o Reflect: Take time to think back on the process. Grades: This project works well for intermediate/middle school aged students in grades 5-8. It could also be used in a high school special education classroom with extra support.

Maintain your daily class routine by using quick, high-quality math rounds like Mini Math Escape Room - Mission 3! This resource was created for use in real classrooms with real schedules: it is short, sweet, and will not overtake an entire class period. This is a 10-minute digital math warm up where students use their skills to work toward unlocking a lock. The "escape room" format motivates students to get through routine practice! The process is routine: students solve 5 math problems on one page, then use the first digit of their answer to make a 5-digit code. If the code is correct, the mission is complete. If the code is incorrect, nothing shows up and students are prompted to go back, find their mistake, and try again. This format builds in self-checking and rewards perseverance while requiring no extra grading from the teacher! Mission 3 emphasizes spiral review of important skills, including: Greatest common factor Adding fractions with unlike denominators Finding the percent of a number Solving one-step equations Unit conversions These skills spiral throughout the series rather than being practiced in isolation. What you get in this resource: 1 mini digital math escape room (Mission 3) 5 math problems on one interactive page A printable worksheet version Answer key and final code This mini escape room would be PERFECT to use as a math warm up or bell ringer. You could even assign it at the end of your class period, or as an assignment for early finishers or a sub day. If you are looking for a way to keep students coming back to these important skills all year long, Mission 3 is for you! Your students will love it and ask for more, and you will love saving prep time.

Animal Dominoes Game
Math, Numbers, Science, Life Sciences, Animals, Kindergarten, Preschool, Activities, Games

If there is one thing we can count on young learners to absolutely love, it would be animals! From a very young age, many young children strike an interest in animals of all kinds. We know that incorporating interests in our lessons can increase student engagement. There are many ways to incorporate animals into learning! This is an Animal Dominoes Game. There are 3 pages included. There are 10 dominoes on each page, so there are 30 dominoes in all. You will print these pages on card stock and laminate them for durability before cutting them out. Just like the classic game of dominoes, students will work to match up a pair of equal dominoes. This can be played in partners or in small groups of 3-4 students. Skills practiced with this game: --Finding the total (as students will have to count the total number of animals to ensure they have an equal pair) --Animal identification --Animal names --Counting Because there is counting and totals involved, this makes a great math center or a math small group activity.
