For that reason, thesevisual bookmarksandresponse sheetswere created to give students a way to remember all the details needed toretell stories, summarize textand also remember important ways to understandclose reading. In the beginning I taught studentshow to use the bookmarksand then as they becamestronger with the skills, they were given the choice to use them or try independently. I always found that visuals are an important way to support those students who may need a visual aid in the beginning stages of using reading comprehension strategies when inGuided Reading groups, reading independently or when partner reading. I kept these bookmarks in our classroom library and reading center for use as needed. Here’s What’s Included in this Set: ⭐8 Retelling Bookmarks with visual reminders. ⭐8 Summarizing Bookmarks with visual reminders. ⭐8 Close Reading Bookmarks with visual reminders for marking up the text. ⭐Writing Frames to support each of the Bookmarks for notetaking and reminders of how to retell, summarize and use Close Reading symbols. Question of the Day for PreK Kindergarten First and Second Grades
ELA, Grammar, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Activities
Conversation is so important in our world of technology! Question of the Day...Let’s Get Talking was created for my daughter’s Kindergarten SpEd class. Her students have minimal verbal skills and duringMorning Meeting she wanted a basket of questions from which to choose one a day to initiate conversation. Simply asking the question and then practicing full statement answers makes such a difference for and supports Speech and Language issues. I watched this in progress on my volunteer days in her classroomand it worked beautifully. She has some children who are diagnosed with “selective mutism” and they have felt so much more comfortable that they are answering questions with minimal support. We all know how important it is for children to converse with friends as well teachers and of course their parents.Talking and listeningmore and more helpschildrentodeveloptheir language and vocabulary skills. It supports in learning thenew words. It helps early learners todevelopgrammar and reading. The role of teachers and parents, whentalking and listeningtochildrenis to encourage, developand improve theirtalking and listeningskills. TheseQuestion of the Day Cardswill, not only allow you to get acquainted or know your students, but also get them ready to listen and learn, develop conversation strategies, enrich vocabulary and build self esteem. This resource isdesigned to encourage answering questions, to support speech and language and to tame anxiety in those students who may be afraid to speak at circle time or morning meeting! It works great with ELL students, Special Education, Shy kiddos, Morning Meeting, to initiate conversations in small group and speech and language lessons.
