We want to ensure we have interactive practice opportunities to help students connect the dots. This resource can do just that! This is Mr. Sylvester’s Socks Graphing Activity. It is a 4-page printable that was designed for your 2nd and 3rd grade students. The objective of this product is for students to be able to correctly analyze data from graphs, answer questions about graphs and create graphs. The worksheets included are: 1. Socks in Stock – This page has a graph that represents the socks in stock at a local clothing store. Students will answer 6 questions for this graph. 2. Mr. Sylvester’s Socks – Students will analyze groups based on how Mr. Sylvester has sorted his socks. Students will use this data to correctly color the socks in the left-hand column of the chart . Students will fill in the graph using circles to correctly represent the socks. On the next page, students will get to decide how many of each color sock they think Mr. Sylvester should keep. This resource is a World History: Life in the Middle Ages | Feudalism | Document Based Activity . You are purchasing a Document Based Activity (GOOGLE and Traditional versions provided) that uses the Inquiry Approach Lesson Strategy. This activity is on the topic of Life in the Middle Ages, specifically focusing on the question: How did the growth of towns, and an economy based upon trade and commerce, impact daily life during the Middle Ages? What was daily life like for people that lived during this time period? In the Inquiry Based (or Mystery Strategy) approach students are confronted with a historical puzzle or FOCUS question to consider and they are also given historical evidence (excerpts from primary sources, photographs, charts, graphs etc.) that they use to solve the puzzle or answer the FOCUS question. Students start by expressing their own curiosity about the topic, then they explore, ask questions, and investigate for answers. While working with the “clues” that you give them, students build their knowledge, continue to ask questions and search for answers, until they are able to draw conclusions about the puzzle or topic presented. In this activity , your students will: 1) Read a short Warm-up Reading and label a creative foldable on the unique Social Structure of the Middle Ages. 2) Work in small groups or pairs to analyze 7 pictures of Medieval Life. Guiding Questions are provided. (or individually for distance learning) 3) Investigate life in the Middle Ages using the clues (short primary/secondary source excerpts) provided. As they read each excerpt they will take notes and address the Comprehension questions provided on a GROUP GRAPHIC ORGANIZER. 4) Complete a creative assessment/Exit Card “Sensory” activity to gauge their understanding of the topic. It consists of 23 slides. The objective is for students to be able to demonstrate their understanding of harmony and unity by creating an artwork inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. The presentation breakdown is as follows: Slides 2 & 3 – Definition, description, and visual examples of harmony. Slides 4 & 5 – Definition, description, and visual examples of unity. Slide 6 – Short paragraph about Andy Goldsworthy. Slides 7 – 20 – Visuals of Goldsworthy’s artwork (one image per slide). Students will practice letter recognition and distinguishing between capital and lowercase letters with this letter B sorting activity. This activity has a bug theme. This sorting activity is suitable for preschool and kindergarten students who are learning to recognize the letter B and to distinguish between capital and lowercase letters. Students can work independently or in pairs to sort each letter to the correct mat. What is Included: * One capital letter sorting mat * One lowercase letter sorting mat * 12 bugs with capital and lowercase letters --- 6 capital letters --- 6 lowercase letters When to Use: * Literacy Center * Sorting Center * Fine Motor Activity * Small Group Activity * Morning Tub or Basket Activity * File Folder Activity * Independent Practice * Baking Tray Activity Skills Assessed: * Letter Recognition * Distinguishing between capital and lowercase letters * Sorting Skills How to Play Place each of the mats side by side on a flat surface. Give the students the cards to sort into the correct sorting mat * File Folder Game - Glue the mats inside a file folder, one on either side of the inside of the folder. Use loop and hook fasteners (if desired) to place the cards on the correct sorting mat. * Baking Tray Game - Place the mats side by side on a baking tray. Place magnets on the back of the cards so they stick to the mats on the cookie sheet when sorted. This sorting activity is low prep. The teacher needs to print out the mats and apple pages. The apple pages need to be cut out. The pages can be laminated if desired. This sorting activity can be used over and over.
