Mindfulness for Exam Stress – Focused Attention Worksheets
Life Skills, Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), Speech Therapy, STEM, Resources for Teachers, Classroom Management, Community Building, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets & Printables, Workbooks, Worksheets, Word Searches, Teacher Tools, Assessments, Lesson Plans, Presentations, Quizzes and Tests, Tests
A complete 40-page workbook to promote the use of mindfulness and learn how to manage exam stress using neuroscience-based methods. This workbook includes clear theoretical concepts (e.g., "Amygdala Hijacking", "Working Memory Bottleneck", "Default Mode Network versus Task Positive Network") paired with a total of 10 student worksheets, 3 visually appealing colored models for use throughout the course, an answer key that shows all answers for the worksheets and a teacher guide to implementation. In addition to theory, there are practical tools to help the student manage their stress level and perform well on assessments. Practical tools include: Cognitive Defusion (to eliminate the "failure script" you tell yourself), using Somatic Mapping and micro-interventions (e.g., Physiological Sigh, 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding, Box Breathing), using the POP (Pause, Observe, Proceed) method to eliminate "blanks" on assessments, utilizing pre-test mental rehearsal and post-test decompression exercises. This workbook is perfect for use in the classroom, individual counseling sessions, study skills programs, or home schooling. It is available for immediate digital download, and can be printed from your computer or used in your digital course materials with no preparation needed. These strategies have been researched and proven to effectively lower levels of test anxiety and provide access to your working memory when under pressure to perform. Reasons Parents and Schools Love this Product: Science-based methods that help students calm themselves when they take exams through teaching them how to control their brains instead of just telling them to calm themselves down. No preparation required on the part of teachers with regard to having materials like worksheets, visuals, answer keys, and an implementation guide to use immediately in their classrooms or with students who need support. Helps develop true resilience by teaching students ways to cope with anxiety over a lifetime rather than relying on temporary motivation techniques. All micro-interventions available through this product can be done without being seen or heard, therefore making it more conducive to use during exam time. Very easy for both parents and counselors to understand how to use the micro-interventions in a way that they will get maximum benefit from doing so; great for SEL programs, study skills classes, or using at home. Intended Readers : The target audience for this resource is students who belong to the ages of 12-16 (Grades 7-10). The research case studies were conducted with 7th grade (ADHD/test anxiety), 8th grade, 9th grade and 10th grade (AP Biology) students. The resource sections of the Teacher Implementation Guide focus on the students themselves as they relate to their neurodevelopmental stage (middle and early high school). This resource is perfect for middle school (Grades 7-8) and early high school (Grades 9-10) students, who are preparing for any number of major exams, standardized exams and high stakes assessments (i.e., any subject). Not intended for elementary students (too difficult) or late high school/college students (the language and examples were written specifically for the adolescent population). The Bill of Rights Unit (and a Little About Amendments 11-27)
Social Studies, Government, Grade 6, 7, 8, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools, Crosswords Puzzles, Tests, Worksheets & Printables
A Word document lesson packet examines all 27 constitutional amendments, providing in-depth readings on the original Bill of Rights (Amendments 1-10) alongside a lighter overview of Amendments 11-27. Students read background text on ratification and the Federalist/Anti-Federalist debate, then work through a 26-question comprehension worksheet, an "Our Living Bill of Rights" scenario-analysis worksheet applying amendments to real and invented current events, a crossword puzzle, and a cumulative test, each paired with an answer key. A lesson-plan section up front lists objectives, learning targets, printed California and Common Core standards, and step-by-step directions for teaching the materials across a multi-day sequence. The file also contains hyperlinks to outside news and reference sites supporting classroom discussion of related current events. For a longer research extension that builds on this same amendment content, The Constitution is a Living Document has students connect ten current news articles to specific constitutional amendments over a six-week project.

Provide your advanced high school students with this 42-page climate policy curriculum that focuses on advanced dialectical analysis rather than simplified activism. This curriculum will encourage active learning for your students by transforming passive learning into a deep intellectual engagement through multi-perspective debate, policy creation, and ethical reasoning. Students will explore: The transition from the Kyoto Protocol to the Paris Agreement and the principle of Common But Differentiated Responsibilities (CBDR) Carbon pricing mechanisms (Carbon Tax vs. Cap and Trade), as well as the Social Cost of Carbon The ethics of geoengineering (Stratospheric Aerosol Injection [SAI], moral hazard, risks associated with unilateral use of SAI) Environmental justice, climate debt, and the Cobalt Paradox in developing countries Youth climate lawsuits, climate refugees and international law, methane agricultural policies, financing urban adaptation, and accountability for greenwashing Includes 10 high-level student worksheets with conceptual fill-in-the-blank (using a unique 7-underscore system), real-world case studies and hypothetical case studies, critical debate prompts, and challenging policy creation assignments for students. Teacher answer keys, implementation guides, visual diagrams (Climate Policy Trilemma, Stakeholder Matrix, and Carbon Pricing Mind Map), and differentiation strategies are also included. Ideal for AP Environmental Science, AP Government, AP Economics, IB Global Politics, Honors Humanities, and Model UN/debate programs. Encourages real critical thinking, systems analysis, and nuanced understanding of the trade-offs between enhancing developing countries. The Key Reasons Why Parents and Schools Appreciate It: Facilitates unbiased critical thinking instead of dogmatic, ideologically-based, practical-thinking-by-proxy students making arguments for and against competing choices (e.g., Growth vs. Fossil-Fuel Abolition; Independent Sovereign Nation vs. World Government; Technology as Hope or as a Curse). Extensive preparation for taking Advanced Placement tests; writing college level essays, debating other humans, as well as the development of well-thought-out arguments using established policies, and ethical reasoning based on sound ethical reasoning standards. A balanced view of the world; an honest consideration of the challenges facing developing nations, "Just Transition", climate liabilities, and the risk of neo-colonial influence in creating green supply chains. Teacher support that is broad in scope and purpose; includes teacher-oriented teacher guides, "look-for" answers for the teachers, pacing guides and strategies for differentiating instruction, visual aids to illustrate concepts, and techniques for managing classroom conversations. An exceedingly entertaining way to teach about Climate Change, as well as Science, by creating opportunities for students to compete with each other on an intellectual level, as opposed to being preached at. Primary Audience & Classes: 9-12 (Secondary School) Advanced Students Advanced Placement Environmental Science Advanced Placement U.S. Government/Comparative Government Advanced Placement Macroeconomics/Microeconomics (on Carbon Pricing) IB Diploma Programme: Global Politics, Environmental Systems/Societies (ESS), and Economics Advanced Placement/honors world/history/contemporary issues Model United Nations, Debate and Mock Trial Teams Future Advanced 10-graders: Gifted/Track 11/12 grades -- Advanced Placement courses. Zero-Waste Lifestyle Tracking & Habit Builder Journals
Science, Resources for Teachers, Life Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Geology, Nature & Plants, STEM, Biology, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Teacher Tools, Worksheets & Printables, Workbooks, Worksheets, Word Searches, Assessments, Lesson Plans, Quizzes and Tests, Quizzes, Tests
Turn your classroom into an environmental science lab with the help of this awesome 41-page Zero Waste Lifestyle Tracking and Habit Builder Journal! This is a project-based learning resource for grades 4–8 that is aligned to the standards! Looking for a real world environmentally focused way to teach environmental science to your students that isn't just a bunch of recycling posters? A complete curriculum journal combining current neuroscience research, ecology theory and hands-on data collection will give your students everything they need to consider themselves true environmental scientists - and it begins with measuring their own lives! This resource is not just one big stack of worksheets but rather, it is a fully scaffolded 3-phase academic journal developed with university seminar style rigor and middle school classroom style accessibility. Your students won’t just learn about the environment; they’ll measure it, analyze it and make changes to it! CONTENTS (41 Pages, Print & Digital Ready): Phase 1 — Core Content & Theory (4 chapters): 1. The Anatomy of Waste explains what happens throughout the lifespan of waste items, including Lifecycle Assessment (LCA), the impact of microplastics in our world today, which items go in the landfill, which items can be incinerated, and how long it takes for a plastic fork to travel 450 years into our future 2. The Neuroscience of Habit Building discusses how our brains form habits based on the basal ganglia of the brain, how we can rebuild/rewire our habits scientifically through neuroplasticity, and the three parts of the habit loop (cue-routine-reward) 3. The Zero-Waste Hierarchy introduces the four elements of a zero-waste lifestyle: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Rot (Composting) and Recycle. This chapter includes a real-world example of how one school significantly reduced their waste by over 90% using these four proven methods 4. Data-Driven Stewardship teaches your students to think like a marine biologist and meteorologist by showing them how to track and analyze their own local environmental data. After each chapter is a fill-in-the-blank review of the chapter, called the Scholar's Review. Phase 2: 10Worksheet Workbook for Students (Research Lab Style) Personal Waste Audit 24-Hour (Data Collection Protocols: Empirical) Material Lifecycle Analysis of Material (From Raw Extraction To Disposal) Biochemistry of Composting (Green And Brown Materials, Aerobic And Anaerobic Decomposition) Single Use Plastic Substitution Matrix (Cost/Benefit Analysis) Water and Energy Footprint Calculation (Embedded Energy And Water Load Calculation; Shower Each Year; Cost Of Water To Make Cotton Shirt) Redesign Challenge For Circular Economy (Planned Volatility, Upcycling, Extended Producer Responsibility) Food Waste Economics (FIFO Pantry System, Estimate Of $780 Of Food Waste Per Year, What Is A Food Standard For A Non-Food Waste Item?) Fast Fashion Footprint (Cost To Wear, Use Of Micro-Plastics, Philosophy Of Wardrobe) Supermarket Packaging Detective (Identifying Greenwashing, Multi-Layered Packages, Bulk Purchasing) Zero-Waste Habit Builder (Keystone Priming, 30-Day Tracking Plan, Write Manifesto For A Zero Waste Life) PHASE 3—Teacher Resources and Visuals: Three professionally designed SVG diagrams (Zero Waste Hierarchy, Linear vs. Circular Economy, Sustainability Habit Loop) Complete Answer Key with example answers and teacher rubric notes 4 week pacing guide with weekly objectives, activities, teacher roles and homework 100-point assessments rubric across four categories of data collection, behavioural design, critical thinking and communication Five extension activities (Trash Jar Challenge, Community Waste Mapping, Letter Writing Campaign to Corporations, Do-It-Yourself Repairs Workshop, Composting Science Experiment; if possible please use a separate document per activity) Strategies for differentiating instruction for Grades 4-5, Grade 8/Gifted, IEP/504 and ELL students CONNECTING TO CURRICULUM: This journal ties into Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Common Core English Language Arts (informational text analysis, evidence based writing) and Common Core Mathematics (percentages, projections, data analysis). This journal combines many subjects — environmental science, behavioral psychology, economics and persuasive writing — into one connected whole. USAGE IDEAS: Great as a 4-week stand-alone unit or as part of an after-school environmental club, summer enrichment program or reinforcement through integration into existing science, health or social studies curricula. Assign user digitally (fillable PDF) or in print. DIGITAL DOWNLOAD — PRINT & GO! REASONS PARENTS/SCHOOLS LOVE THE RESOURCE: Merging Science, Psychology, and Real-World Mathematics – Instead of merely reading about the environment, kids actually conduct real waste audits, calculate their water footprints, and use their own personal data to perform real-world food waste economics analysis – helping them to take abstract concepts and move towards making those concepts their own, and thus, real. Tremendous Support For Teachers From Day One – Each of the resources, including a complete 4-Week Pacing Guide, example responses in the Answer Key, a 100-point Assessment Rubric, and a variety of differentiation strategies to accommodate ALL learners (IEP/504, ELL, Gifted) provides teachers with no-prep stress! Building Lasting Habits, Not Just Raising Awareness – This journal is based on neuroscience principles, specifically the Habit Loop framework, which teaches kids HOW behavior changes within the brain — therefore they can establish long-term environmental habits to implement after the conclusion of the unit. No Eco-Anxiety – Only Eco-Empowerment – Constructivist pedagogy does not endorse guilt-based teaching practices to educate/expose students to environmental issues. Instead, students are encouraged to view themselves as environmental scientists, thereby creating a sense of worth/empowerment as opposed to being seen as passive victims of "climate doom"; hence, all resources provided in this unit have been designed with both emotional safety and motivation in mind. Cross-Curricular and Standards-Aligned Value – When you purchase this journal as a single resource, you are actually replacing multiple separate resources. This one journal covers multiple areas of study related to environmental science, data analysis, persuasive writing, behavioral psychology, economics, and systems thinking — therefore you are maximizing the instructional value and curriculum alignment of numerous subject areas! TARGET GRADES/CLASSES: On evaluating for the content type's level of complexity, the level of language used, the level of math skill needed; and how to teach the content using scaffolding: Primary Target 6th, 7th, and 8th grades (Middle School, our primary audience) Science classes; Environmental Science/ Earth Science Health and Wellness Classes Social Studies/Civics (Circular economy, EPR Policy) ELA Classes (Persuasive writing, Informational text) Secondary Target 5th Grade (Upper Elementary, with teacher scaffolded materials to be used; will require the use of Phase 3 differentiation strategies). 4th Grade (Will require major support in accordance with Phase 3 differentiation, as mentioned in Section 2) 9th Grade (High School, Environmental Science as a remedial unit or an introductory unit) Special Programs Gifted/Honors programs (Students in 8th grade, extension Activities) IEP/504 Accommodations (explicitly provide support through IEP/504) ELL Programs (provide bilingual glossary strategies) Environmental clubs (5th through 9th grade) STEM/STEAM programs Best Audience Targets: Middle School Science teachers (6th to 8th grade) Environmental Science Teachers Parents of Students 10 - 14 taking homeschool classes School Librarians purchasing Sustainability books for their library collection After School Program Coordinators Eco-Conscious Parents with Interest in Supplement Learning Your use of this Resource Agreement: Copyright (or Terms of Use) Copyright is held by Syed Hammad Rizvi. AI for Kids: Understanding Artificial Intelligence Book
Science, Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Special Resources, Life Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), STEM, Research, Resources for Teachers, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Projects, Activities, Teacher Tools, Assessments, Lesson Plans, Presentations, Literacy Readers, Quizzes and Tests, Quizzes, Tests
Uncover the amazing world of Artificial Intelligence with AI for Kids by Syed Hammad Rizvi – the best easy to read and conceptual book about what AI is for kids! This 315 page long book has no coding requirement; instead, it presents many complicated ideas such as; machine learning, algorithms, deep learning, data patterns, ethical AI & bias, quantum computing, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and The Future of AI (including the singularity and AGI) in an interesting and fun way by using many familiar analogies that can be easily understood (i.e. Lego sorting, riding a bike, master cooks). AI for Kids is perfect for kids who want to learn how Siri, Netflix recommendations, facial recognition, and ChatGPT actually work without any programming or technical knowledge! There are 151 short chapters filled with real-life examples appropriate for children, and the information in these chapters empowers children. The book can be used as a tool to create interest in STEM subjects, or as an educational resource to be used at home, school, in after-school STEM clubs, or at night before bed to build AI literacy and inspire future generations of innovators, ethicists, and thinkers! Keywords: AI, kids, artificial intelligence, machine learning simply explained, neural networks beginners, ethical AI & the future of AI, no coding AI, STEM children 8-14. Here's what Parents & Schools find appealing about this Read: - No technical overwhelm – just follow AI concepts with relatable analogies to make it easy to understand & fun for kids. - Covers every aspect of AI within 151 bite-sized chapters (history, how AI learns, applications in health care, gaming & robotics, ethics, bias, jobs of the future) – this one book replaces the need for many resources. - Build early critical thinking skills and digital citizenship skills by getting children thinking critically about AI choices, identifying biased information, and preparing children for careers related to AI. - Very versatile for classroom/homeschooling use – short chapters, discussion prompts, & real-life examples are well-suited to be used as part of lessons/projects or for independent reading. - Future-proof & aspirational – encourages children to believe they can influence AI positively, while dreaming of careers such as “AI Ethicist" or "Human-AI Team Coordinator." Target Audience (Based on Complete Analysis of Book): The title and content are explicitly created for kids, with simple formats (analogies, short chapters), questions and real-life examples being used throughout all 151 chapters (from basics at Chapter 1 to complex concepts such as singularity, quantum AI, bias, ethics and future impact in the other chapters). The content continually uses easy-to-understand language to help engage kids, even through some of the most trying sections (example of AGI: like a true thinker who could write novels and create music; bias, using the analogy of a warped photograph; and food science using the analogy of a digital chef). While the book does not provide any required ages/grades, the depth of material (differentiating between narrow/general AI, explaining XAI, discussing the predictive policing debate, interdisciplinary teams, and impact on society) and no requirement of coding make it appropriate for children age 8-14 (grades 3-8 / upper elementary and middle school). Younger children (grades 3-5) will enjoy the fun stories and introduction of subject matter, while older children (grades 6-8) will understand the ethical aspects of these technologies and their potential future career opportunities as well as understand how these technologies apply to the real world and benefit society through further learning. This book would be a good resource for homeschoolers, teachers, gifted programs and any student who has an interest in technology. It will be too basic for high school students but will provide a solid foundation and valuable supplemental material.
