Short or Long Vowel? Multiple Choice Quiz + Digital & Print Flashcards

First off, there's a digital quiz. It's a PDF, so you can just pop it up on the screen. Kids get to see a word, and a picture of it, and they have to say if it's a short or long vowel sound. And get this, it tells them right away if they're right! So, they learn as they go. Then, there are digital flashcards. They use the same words as the quiz, so it all ties together. You can even choose if you want them to focus on just short vowels or just long vowels. It's up to you. And if you're more of a paper and pencil kinda person, no problem. There are printable flashcards too. Two different sizes, so you can pick what works best. They have all the short and long vowel words in them. Basically, this thing is perfect for little kids, like preschool to second grade. But honestly, anyone who wants to get better at those vowel sounds will find it helpful. It helps with spelling, and vocabulary, and just getting better at reading in general. It's a really good way to make learning fun, and that's what's important, right?

Learn the 1000 modern common sight words from the Fry Sight Words list with this resource. Flash Cards introduce words and promote comprehension through memorization and repetition. They can be used in a group setting or individually for practice. This set includes a teaching guide, the Fry sight words flash cards separated by grade, blank flash cards, and custom envelopes. These Flash Cards can be used to help students recognize key words to start their literacy journey. Other titles included in this series are: DOLCH SIGHT WORDS Flash Cards. These two titles are also available in a BUNDLE. About this Resource: This resource includes all 1000 Fry Sight Words in a Flash Cards format. Organized in groups of 10, teachers can cut out each flash card for easy use with their students. The Flash Cards are separated by grade sections. Teachers can choose to focus on cards by these grade bands, or mix them up for an overall activity . Included in this resource are customized origami-styled envelopes that can be used to keep each set of Flash Cards organized. Instructions on how to fold the envelopes can be found on page 4. About Flash Cards: Flash Cards are small cards that have a little amount of information on them. These cards are held up for students to see to help with learning. Flash Cards can be used in groups as drill activities, or alone for private study. Although Flash Cards can contain any form of information, for the purposes of this resource, each Flash Card contains a vocabulary word. Overall, Flash Cards are used as a learning drill to help with memorization through repetition. Students can quickly and easily learn vocabulary words by using Flash Cards in their everyday study. Flash Cards exercise the mental processes of students’ brains. With repeated practice, students will learn to associate words with their spelling. About Fry Sight Words: In 1996, Dr. Edward B. Fry expanded on Dolch’s list of 220 Sight Words and 95 common nouns. This list included 1000 of the most common words used in the English language ranked by frequency. Labeled as “Instant Words”, Fry’s list came to be known as “Fry Words”. These words are typically broken down into groups of 100, and separated by grades kindergarten to first grade, second to third grade, and fourth to fifth grade. Learning all 1000 words in this modern list of Sight Words will allow students to be able to read about 90% of the words used in a typical book.

Phonic Spelling Programme Level 1 Ages 7+

This is a Phonic spelling programme. Not only will it teach a child to spell, but also to write. Just add a good handwriting programme. The spelling programme can be used with all ages from 5 to 99, however, if used with a young learner I strongly advise using the programme to teach both reading and spelling at the same time. About Dolch Sight Words: In 1948, Edward William Dolch, PhD created his list of the most common 220 words and 95 nouns in children’s books. These words were then divided into grade levels, including pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and verbs. Nouns made up a separate list of 95 words. The list used 220 “service words” that should be easily recognized in order for students to become fluent in reading. The Dolch words are “Sight Words” because many of them cannot be sounded out. Instead, they must be learned by sight. In other words, memorization. These sight words provide a basis for reading at a young age. Students must become familiar with these words as they begin to read in order to become successful readers as they progress through their academic career. About Fry Sight Words: In 1996, Dr. Edward B. Fry expanded on Dolch’s list of 220 Sight Words and 95 common nouns. This list included 1000 of the most common words used in the English language ranked by frequency. Labeled as “Instant Words”, Fry’s list came to be known as “Fry Words”. These words are typically broken down into groups of 100, and separated by grades kindergarten to first grade, second to third grade, and fourth to fifth grade. Learning all 1000 words in this modern list of Sight Words will allow students to be able to read about 90% of the words used in a typical book.
