CVC Reading Book 13

CVC Reading Book 13
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Pre-Reading, Reading, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1,

A phonic CVC Words Reading Book for young/SEN/ESL readers. This is the thirteenth of 16 phonic reading books to support the blending of CVC words with a short vowel sound, suitable for those who just beginning to read with phonics. These books are intended to be read in sequence for best effect. Find the complete series here: https://teachsimple.com/product/cvc-short-vowel-phonic-reading-books-fully-decodable These first phonic readers are suitable for use with all phonic programmes. These books focus exclusively on sounding out words and they only use the key sight (red/tricky) words a, is, the, of, which are introduced only gradually. These short words should be learned on a flashcard first, but are best put into context as soon as possible when children usually, quickly pick them up. Pictures are deliberately minimal to encourage the child to gain meaning from the text and not to guess. All of the words are introduced and then met again in subsequent readers, to help develop confidence and fluency. The book s begins with just a few words being introduced. For example, the book CVC Reading Book 13 uses the words it, doll, picnic, cup, etc. The whole scope and sequence is included in the pack for your reference. Each book lists the sight word/s being used in that book at the beginning. There is also a short introduction to the book to be read by the teacher and discussed with the child. These introductions help to make up for the lack of words in the book and help parents and teachers to have a basis for discussion with the child, so aiding reading comprehension. I have based the stories around loveable characters with whom the children quickly identify: farmer Tom with his animals, his wife, his son Sam and daughter, Pam, his dog, Jiff and the cat. Due to the systematic, phonetic nature of these books, they are highly suitable for special needs children who have failed with other programmes. Many parents have told me they wished they had found these books sooner, or had found them at all, as they would have been ideal for their struggling reader. They have been thoroughly tested by my current pupils all of whom are boys. Even my nine-year old boy pupil loves them. They can also be used with young EFL/ESL learners.

ABC Game – Match the Letters with a Soccer Twist | Elementary & ESL Similar to Dobble / Spot it! A playful alphabet recognition game for preschool and early elementary (Pre-K to 3st grade) ⚽🔤 This classroom game helps children explore and recognize the letters of the alphabet through play. Based on the well-known “Find the Twin” format (similar to Dobble or Spot It!), this resource invites learners to engage visually and socially while building basic literacy skills. Each card shows six symbols or letters. The goal: find the matching symbol between two cards – as fast as you can! The game can be played in pairs or small groups and is great for active classroom moments, literacy stations, or early finisher time. What I’ve enjoyed about this kind of activity in my own teaching is that it doesn’t require much prep, but it sparks a lot of focus and excitement. It’s also easy to adapt – whether you want to emphasize letter names, sounds, or visual scanning. What’s included: 62 cards total – 2 versions with 31 cards each – Round cards – Cut-out-friendly square cards Each card includes 6 images Clear visuals and simple layout for young learners Instructions included Ideas for classroom use: You can print the cards on regular paper or cardstock. Laminate them for durability if you plan to use them often. I’ve used these games during phonics lessons, as part of morning rotations, or as a “quiet movement” activity when students needed a break from sitting. The structure helps students work on focus, comparison, and visual discrimination – all useful skills for early reading development. At the same time, they practice taking turns and cooperating, which supports classroom community. Simple, flexible, and always well received – this game adds a playful twist to everyday alphabet learning. A low-prep, high-impact way to make learning the alphabet more interactive – and fun. Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we focus on creating a positive and inspiring learning environment.

ABC Game – Alphabet Match with a Soccer Twist | Elementary & ESL Similar to Dobble / Spot it! A playful matching game to support letter recognition in preschool and early elementary (Pre-K to Grade 3) ⚽🔤 This hands-on alphabet game is a great way to help young learners recognize and match letters while staying engaged and active. Inspired by the popular “Find the Twin” concept (also known as Spot It! or Dobble), this printable classroom activity turns letter learning into a fun group challenge. Each card features 6 colorful images – all created by hand and designed with younger students in mind. Every pair of cards has exactly one matching symbol, and the challenge is to find it as quickly as possible. The game helps children sharpen their visual scanning, focus, and of course, their knowledge of the alphabet. You’ll receive two complete versions of the game with 31 cards each – in both round and square formats. This gives you flexibility depending on how you want to prep and present the game. What’s included: 62 total cards (2x 31 cards) 2 formats: round and square (easy to cut) Each card with 6 hand-drawn ABC images Clear instructions for classroom use Designed for easy printing and laminating How it works in the classroom: I’ve used games like this during literacy centers, as warm-ups for phonics lessons, or simply to give students a fun break while still learning. The rules are easy to understand – even for non-readers – and the game naturally encourages turn-taking and positive interaction. Because it’s low-prep and flexible, it also works well for early finishers or small-group stations. You can even keep a laminated version in a quiet corner for students to play independently or with a buddy. Fun, focused, and full of learning – this alphabet game helps build confidence with letters in a way that feels like play. A low-prep, high-impact way to make learning the alphabet more interactive – and fun. Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know? Learn the 220 common sight words and 95 nouns from the Dolch Sight Words list with this resource. Flash Cards introduce words and promote comprehension through memorization and repetition. They can be used in a group setting or individually for practice. This set includes a teaching guide, the Dolch sight words flash cards separated by grade, blank flash cards, and custom envelopes. These Flash Cards can be used to help students recognize key words to start their literacy journey. Other titles included in this series are: FRY SIGHT WORDS Flash Cards. These two titles are also available in a BUNDLE. About this Resource: This resource includes all 315 Dolch Sight Words in a Flash Cards format. Organized in groups of 10, teachers can cut out each flash card for easy use with their students. The Flash Cards are separated by grade and nouns. Teachers can choose to focus on cards by grade, or mix them up for an overall activity . Included in this resource are customized origami-styled envelopes that can be used to keep each set of Flash Cards organized. Instructions on how to fold the envelopes can be found on page 4. About Flash Cards: Flash Cards are small cards that have a little amount of information on them. These cards are held up for students to see to help with learning. Flash Cards can be used in groups as drill activities, or alone for private study. Although Flash Cards can contain any form of information, for the purposes of this resource, each Flash Card contains a vocabulary word. Overall, Flash Cards are used as a learning drill to help with memorization through repetition. Students can quickly and easily learn vocabulary words by using Flash Cards in their everyday study. Flash Cards exercise the mental processes of students’ brains. With repeated practice, students will learn to associate words with their spelling. About Dolch Sight Words: In 1948, Edward William Dolch, PhD created his list of the most common 220 words and 95 nouns in children’s books. These words were then divided into grade levels, including pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and verbs. Nouns made up a separate list of 95 words. The list used 220 “service words” that should be easily recognized in order for students to become fluent in reading. The Dolch words are “Sight Words” because many of them cannot be sounded out. Instead, they must be learned by sight. In other words, memorization. These sight words provide a basis for reading at a young age. Students must become familiar with these words as they begin to read in order to become successful readers as they progress through their academic career.

Learn the 1000 modern common sight words from the Fry Sight Words list with this resource. Flash Cards introduce words and promote comprehension through memorization and repetition. They can be used in a group setting or individually for practice. This set includes a teaching guide, the Fry sight words flash cards separated by grade, blank flash cards, and custom envelopes. These Flash Cards can be used to help students recognize key words to start their literacy journey. Other titles included in this series are: DOLCH SIGHT WORDS Flash Cards. These two titles are also available in a BUNDLE. About this Resource: This resource includes all 1000 Fry Sight Words in a Flash Cards format. Organized in groups of 10, teachers can cut out each flash card for easy use with their students. The Flash Cards are separated by grade sections. Teachers can choose to focus on cards by these grade bands, or mix them up for an overall activity . About Fry Sight Words: In 1996, Dr. Edward B. Fry expanded on Dolch’s list of 220 Sight Words and 95 common nouns. This list included 1000 of the most common words used in the English language ranked by frequency. Labeled as “Instant Words”, Fry’s list came to be known as “Fry Words”. These words are typically broken down into groups of 100, and separated by grades kindergarten to first grade, second to third grade, and fourth to fifth grade. Learning all 1000 words in this modern list of Sight Words will allow students to be able to read about 90% of the words used in a typical book.

Phonic Spelling Programme Level 1 Ages 7+

Phonic Spelling Programme Level 1 Ages 7+
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools, Outlines, Worksheets & Printables, Flashcards, Workbooks

This is a Phonic spelling programme. Not only will it teach a child to spell, but also to write. Just add a good handwriting programme. The spelling programme can be used with all ages from 5 to 99, however, if used with a young learner I strongly advise using the programme to teach both reading and spelling at the same time. See the website for more information and resources to teach young children. The spelling programme can be used: with children who have learnt to read, but need a spelling/writing programme with children who have tried another phonic programme and not made much progress with reading and/or spelling/writing with a special needs child who needs a very structured approach to learning by home educators by parents wishing to help their child at home About the programme The programme is very flexible and can be made to fit the child, rather than the child to fit the programme. Being highly structured, each new lesson builds on the one before, constantly revising the previously taught material The spelling programme will take 41 weeks to teach. One new sound is taught each week. What is included? The teacher's manual with full lesson plans and helpful teaching tips A list of the keywords for each lesson with the phonic sound highlighted - for practice and revision 39 spelling worksheets The Reading Made Simple Phonic flashcards The Odd Word flashcards About the worksheets The worksheets use time-honoured exercises to help pupils to become familiar with the new sound and revise previously taught ones. They include such exercises as tracking the new sound in words, proofreading as well as comprehension questions. Children generally find them fun because they are so easy due to the way learning is structured throughout the programme. More information If you would like more information about the spelling programme, then please visit the Reading Made Simple website. The same programme and set of worksheets can also be used to help an older child read, one who has some phonic knowledge but needs the gaps filled in a systematic manner.
