Fall Alphabet Match Game Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Center Spot It Style Cards for Early Literacy This fall-themed alphabet game is a playful way for students to practice uppercase and lowercase letters. The activity is based on a “find the match” system: each card has exactly one letter in common with another card, and students have to be the first to spot it. I have used this kind of game format with kindergarten and first grade, and it usually gets the whole group involved quickly. The set includes 93 cards in total, divided into three different versions of 31 cards each. There are round cards, hexagons, and squares. I usually prepare the square version when I need something quick to cut, but the round cards feel more like a traditional game and always catch students’ attention. The hexagons are a nice option if you want a different look. Each card shows six pictures, with the letters hidden among them, so students have to focus closely to find the match. This type of activity works well for building letter recognition, both uppercase and lowercase. It also helps with visual perception, concentration, and taking turns in a group setting. In my classroom, I sometimes keep the game in a literacy center, and other times I use it as a quick warm-up before a reading lesson. It is flexible enough to use in small groups, partner work, or even as an early finisher option. The set also comes with tally sheets, which give students an extra chance to record their letters and practice writing. Some of my students liked keeping track of their matches this way, which turned the game into a mix of play and writing practice. Preparation is simple: print the cards, cut them apart, and laminate if you want them to last longer. Once made, they store easily in a small envelope or box and can be used again each fall. This resource is designed for kindergarten and the early grades, but older students sometimes enjoy it as a quick challenge too. Fall Alphabet Memory Game – Uppercase ABC Cards ABC Picture Cards for Letter Recognition and Word Building This fall alphabet memory game is made with uppercase letters only, from A to Z. Each card shows one bold capital letter together with a simple fall picture, such as B with bat or P with pumpkin . I started using it at the beginning of the school year when my kindergarten class was just learning capital letters, and it quickly became a favorite activity. There are six complete decks of 29 cards each. I like having more than one set because I can give different groups their own deck and avoid cards getting mixed together. The most common way we use the cards is as a memory game, where children flip them over and look for pairs. But there are many other options: putting the alphabet in order on the rug, matching letters I call out, or using a single card as a starting point for a quick word game. The focus on uppercase only makes this resource useful for beginners. Students who are still getting comfortable with print can concentrate on learning one letter form at a time. English learners also benefit from the clear images, since they can connect the picture with the letter sound without feeling overwhelmed. Preparation is simple. Print, cut, and, if you want the cards to last, laminate them. I store mine in small envelopes so they are easy to grab during literacy centers, small group rotations, or as an option for early finishers. The autumn theme makes them seasonal, but the skills they reinforce—recognizing uppercase letters, matching letters with sounds, and developing early vocabulary—are important throughout the year. Contractions Read and Reveal Flash Cards

Introduce or review many different contractions with these contractions read and reveal cards. Contractions are created when two words are made into one word. The missing letters are replaced with an apostrophe. Since most contractions follow the same pattern of letter elimination, these flash cards help students to get a lot of practice writing and breaking apart contractions. What is Included: There are two pages that explain how to make the flash cards and how to use the cards. There are 24 read and reveal flash cards for identifying the contraction made with the two words. There are 24 read and reveal flash cards for breaking apart a contraction into the two words that it comes from. There are two recording pages for students to write down the words and contractions they form based on the flash cards that are chosen. How to Use: Students will choose one cards and either identify the words that created the contraction or create a contraction from the words provided. Students will write the words on the recording pages and their answers. Students will then open the card to see if they correctly performed the task., and mark on the recording page whether they got the contraction correct or incorrect. When to Use: Literacy Center - Students can work on these read and reveal cards in a center alone or with a partner. Independent Practice - Students can work alone with these cards to learn about different contractions. Small Group Activity - Students who need extra practice with contractions can be pulled into small groups to complete this task. These read and reveal flash cards do require some prep to make. The cards should be printed, preferably on card stock. Next, the cards will need to be folded based on the instructions included. The recording pages require no prep to get ready for students. The recording pages can be made reusable by laminating.

Most words are introduced in their phonic family wherever possible. · It is truly multisensory, using the power of the hand. We not only look at the words, but we write them too. This is powerful and has the bonus of turning the child not only into a reader but into a writer as well. Typical signs that this programme can help: Those with dyslexia, or suspected of having dyslexia Difficulty recalling words when seen on flashcards or when reading texts, which results in no or little reading fluency b/d letter reversal of a chronic nature – i.e. the child has not grown out of it Difficulty ordering letters in words: E.g. top becomes pot. This resource is a comprehensive lesson that uses 20 bedroom-related vocabulary words. First off, you can introduce these words by using the PDF -based presentation. With the arrow keys, you just move from one word to another to make your students familiar with them. Next, You can hand out the vocabulary lists. Beware that these are made with color, so in order to be eco-friendly you might want to use black and white ink. Once the students have taken these lists home, they can do the vocabulary test in their next class. They can practice with the words by utilizing the included flash cards. These just need to be printed, laminated, and cut. Beware of sharp edges though. You can use the curved edges version to avoid annoying pinches. Finally, use the Wacky Words activity to have a really good time in class. With this, all the letters are mixed up. Students love this.

Dolch Verbs Rebus Sentences Flashcards for Early Reading & Grammar These flashcards are a simple but effective way to help young readers practice verbs while building confidence in reading and grammar. Alphabet Chart and Alphabet Flashcards This is a bumper pack of picture/letter cards to help you to teach initial sounds, or beginning sounds. It can be used by many different groups of people: parents, home educators, private tutors, ESL teachers, EFL teachers, SEN/D teachers, and generally in the Pre-K, or K classroom. The Initial sounds Teaching Pack contains over 170 picture cards, spread over 20 pages. It is in full colour. All vowels are marked in yellow to help children to recognise these important letters. In the pack you will find: An alphabet chart which can be used for display, or even laminated to make a placemat. Children love to use this to check their progress and see the letters they have learned and can recognise. Then we have 3 plus pages of pictures with the sound underneath, followed by the same cards without pictures so that pictures can be matched to the letters. Then we have picture cards for each letter of the alphabet; we provide 2 sets of these to minimise the chance of children memorising that 'a' is for apple without really hearing the sound at the beginning of the word. These are followed by 26 lowercase letters and 26 uppercase letters. These can be matched to each other, or to the pictures. Simple games can be made - can the child find the lowercase letter, the uppercase letter and both pictures that begin with that sound? Finally, we have two strips of vowels - one with picture cues and one without for children to practice the al important vowel sounds before moving onto blending and to use as a handy reference while learning to blend. Laminate the cards for durability. This pack will make your life so much easier! Teacher instructions and suggestions for activities are provided. The ability to hear the initial/beginning sound of a word is a vital skill that is overlooked by many modern phonic programmes in the rush to get children to blend, but such a rush often leaves many children unable to blend as they cannot hear the initial sound of a word to start with. In turn, this leads to children who memorise CVC words, and from there on, learn to guess. Many of these children then do not make progress in reading, So this pack is very important to help make sure that every child not only knows the sound each letter makes but can hear that sound at the beginning of words. Dolch 1st Grade Sight Word BINGO - 30+ Bingo Cards, Flashcards & Word Lists

This is a bingo game that practices all the grade 1 high-frequency sight words. Along with that, this resource features a bunch of flash cards that you can use to introduce and practice these words. You can choose to print them with sharp edges or curved ones, though I prefer the curved ones. Otherwise students might hurt themselves on the edges, which is something we'd like to prevent altogether. Now with this resource come a bunch of Bingo sheets. So just print out the flash cards and draw them one by one. The students can now cross the words off from their very own bingo cards. Once they have filled out the entire card, they can yell out the magic word, which is of course BINGO. You can decide for yourself if you also want to attach a prize to this in order to motivate your students even more. Finally, there are word lists.
