Contractions Read and Reveal Flash Cards

Introduce or review many different contractions with these contractions read and reveal cards. Contractions are created when two words are made into one word. The missing letters are replaced with an apostrophe. Since most contractions follow the same pattern of letter elimination, these flash cards help students to get a lot of practice writing and breaking apart contractions. What is Included: There are two pages that explain how to make the flash cards and how to use the cards. There are 24 read and reveal flash cards for identifying the contraction made with the two words. There are 24 read and reveal flash cards for breaking apart a contraction into the two words that it comes from. There are two recording pages for students to write down the words and contractions they form based on the flash cards that are chosen. How to Use: Students will choose one cards and either identify the words that created the contraction or create a contraction from the words provided. Students will write the words on the recording pages and their answers. Students will then open the card to see if they correctly performed the task., and mark on the recording page whether they got the contraction correct or incorrect. When to Use: Literacy Center - Students can work on these read and reveal cards in a center alone or with a partner. Independent Practice - Students can work alone with these cards to learn about different contractions. Small Group Activity - Students who need extra practice with contractions can be pulled into small groups to complete this task. These read and reveal flash cards do require some prep to make. The cards should be printed, preferably on card stock. Next, the cards will need to be folded based on the instructions included. The recording pages require no prep to get ready for students. The recording pages can be made reusable by laminating.

This is a Phonic spelling programme. Not only will it teach a child to spell, but also to write. Just add a good handwriting programme. The spelling programme can be used with all ages from 5 to 99, however, if used with a young learner I strongly advise using the programme to teach both reading and spelling at the same time. The spelling programme can be used: with children who have learnt to read, but need a spelling/writing programme with children who have tried another phonic programme and not made much progress with reading and/or spelling/writing with a special needs child who needs a very structured approach to learning by home educators by parents wishing to help their child at home About the programme The programme is very flexible and can be made to fit the child, rather than the child to fit the programme. Being highly structured, each new lesson builds on the one before, constantly revising the previously taught material The spelling programme will take 41 weeks to teach. One new sound is taught each week. What is included? This set of Silent E PowerPoint Flashcards has been created to help pupils differentiate between long and short vowel sounds. Many pupils, especially those with a processing difficulty, struggle to swap quickly from one to another, and therefore, much practice is needed. Aim and objective Once I start to teach Powerful ‘e’, I incorporate these flashcards into my daily lesson starter. My aim is that the child internalises the sounds so that on seeing a powerful ‘e’, they can say the right vowel sound and vice versa. This enables accurate blending and reduces frustration for the child caused by choosing the wrong vowel sound. How to use the Silent 'e' PowerPoint flashcards Work through the slides one by one. Teach the child to say the name made by the letters, followed by the word. They can use the picture as a cue. Do not underestimate the role of the picture to help the child give the correct sound. The more the correct sound is given, the sooner the child will internalise the sounds. Once the pupil seems confident, try using the set of slides without pictures! This can be done in stages, removing the pictures for the short vowel sounds first. Always return to the pictures if the child begins to choose the wrong vowel sound. We do not want them to struggle, even though we want to help them recall the correct sound. A balance must be found. What is included: Five vowel flashcards with picture cues Four Silent 'e' flashcards with picture cues (I do not teach E_E in the early stages as the few words with this sound that a child needs are best taught as sight words (e.g. here). Five vowel flashcards without picture cues Four Silent 'e' flashcards without picture cues An activity An Activity: The activity involves words appearing on the screen one by one. The child is asked: Does it have an ‘e’? Yes, or no. What sound will the vowel make? (short sound, or long name) Can you sound out the word using that vowel sound? Click for the next word. The words can be edited to change the activity. The PowerPoint is A4 format, so the slides can be printed out to form physical matching flashcards.

Fall Alphabet Match Game Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Center Spot It Style Cards for Early Literacy This fall-themed alphabet game is a playful way for students to practice uppercase and lowercase letters. The activity is based on a “find the match” system: each card has exactly one letter in common with another card, and students have to be the first to spot it. I have used this kind of game format with kindergarten and first grade, and it usually gets the whole group involved quickly. The set includes 93 cards in total, divided into three different versions of 31 cards each. There are round cards, hexagons, and squares. I usually prepare the square version when I need something quick to cut, but the round cards feel more like a traditional game and always catch students’ attention. The hexagons are a nice option if you want a different look. Each card shows six pictures, with the letters hidden among them, so students have to focus closely to find the match. This type of activity works well for building letter recognition, both uppercase and lowercase. It also helps with visual perception, concentration, and taking turns in a group setting. In my classroom, I sometimes keep the game in a literacy center, and other times I use it as a quick warm-up before a reading lesson. It is flexible enough to use in small groups, partner work, or even as an early finisher option. The set also comes with tally sheets, which give students an extra chance to record their letters and practice writing. Some of my students liked keeping track of their matches this way, which turned the game into a mix of play and writing practice. Preparation is simple: print the cards, cut them apart, and laminate if you want them to last longer. Once made, they store easily in a small envelope or box and can be used again each fall. This resource is designed for kindergarten and the early grades, but older students sometimes enjoy it as a quick challenge too. Get ready to start teaching Dolch Sight Words (Primer) in literally the best way possible. First off all, you can introduce the words by using the PDF based file. Just launch it and hit different arrow keys to move back and forth. This way students can even go through the presentation all by themselves. You can also assign this document to Google Classroom or send it to their school email. Once you feel confident that they know these words, test their knowledge with the fill-in-the-blanks exercise. It works in the exact same way. It is al PDF based and you just go from the first slide to the second to reveal the correct answer. Easy as pie! But there is more. Sight Words Flash Cards 1 - 100 Fry's List Version 4 VISUAL CLOSURE : This is the fourth version of Fry' Sight Words list presented as posters and flash cards . It is part of a resource series that aims on early reading competence and fluency skills acquisition for students in K, 1st and 2nd grade . There are A4 size cards included that you can use as bulletin board pins, screen and whiteboard slides / presentations or posters on your classroom walls . The same words from the list are also presented in a smaller version ( 9 on one page ) for easier and cost effective printing and laminating, when desired or suited . Use them in your everyday teaching as visual exposure, as a flip through dictionary, as a snap or match to sample game and more . In this series you will find versions of the words with a Visual Perception factor : Visual Closure ( the skill to visualize a complete whole when given missing information / picture ) . Visual Figure Ground ( the skill to filter out random visual elements so that you can focus on the central theme ) . Visual Form Constancy ( skill that helps to understand that a word stays the same even when it changes its position or size ) . This visual approach, offering various and targeted visual word forms, contributes immensely to acquiring reading fluency from the early stages of the educational process .
