A pack of 35 Phonic reading books with matching PowerPoints and workbooks to support learning. This is an incremental phonics reading scheme with a difference. Introducing just 10 words in each phonics family, the words are repeated from book to book, giving even those with very poor word recall the chance to learn to read fluently without having to decode every word. Ideal for dyslexics, or those suspected of being dyslexic and all children with a special need. These reading books make the pupil feel safe - they have already met every word introduced in the stories. They have the skills to read them themselves. This is empowering and confidence-building. The books cover these sounds and must be taught in this order: CK; OO; SH; CH; ND/NT; NK; TH; NG; AR; OR; A-E; I-E, O-R, U-E, AI, EA, OA, IGH Rationale: It has long been proven that teaching children to decode is a powerful tool for teaching reading, as opposed to the Look and Say method. However, this has led to a proliferation of reading books that throw as many words with a shared phonics sound into a book as possible, not realising that some children with very poor word recall find it hard to recognise words when they see them again without much repetition. To combat this problem, while we recognise that, technically, once a child has been taught a new sound s/he can sound out many words with that new sound, when it comes to reading fluently a child needs a core set of words in each family that they can recognise, which can act as a launch pad as they gain confidence. These books have been designed accordingly. For each sound family, just 10 words are studied with the help of the workbooks and are then repeated throughout the books, each book building on the vocabulary that has already been learned, repeating it and including it in new phrases as new sounds are learned. As the programme progresses, new sounds from the learned families are incorporated to widen vocabulary, while taking care to maintain fluency. The books are designed to limit guessing (though most children will try and guess, which must be avoided at all costs). Pluses of this phonics reading programme Easy to print Cheap to buy compared with expensive reading schemes They are just as effective as the best reading programmes out there, and more importantly, they have been tried and tested on real children with severe difficulties and proven to work if the child is taught as outlined. Aligned with the aims and objectives of LETRS and the Science of Reading. They work! My pupils tell me if they don't work, so I re-edit them and try them before I put them out for the general public. Introduces most high-frequency words in the phonics family to which they belong, and gradually introduces genuine, non-decodable sight words into the text without causing overload or throwing the child off course. What is included? Each book is 12/16/20 pages long, with minimal colour pictures to make printing cheaper and to help tell the story when words are minimal Each book comes with a matching PowerPoint, making it suitable for online teaching, for private tutors, parents, classroom assistants, etc... Who Has It? – Chemical Elements Game (1–118) – 3 Levels of Differentiation A cooperative chemistry card game for grades 7–10 to review atomic numbers, element names, and symbols 🧪🎯 This resource is a classroom game that helps students become more confident with the chemical elements – from hydrogen to oganesson. The game follows the well-known “I have… who has?” format and is designed to reinforce students’ understanding of element names, symbols, and atomic numbers in a playful and interactive way. To support different learning levels, the material includes three differentiated versions of the full game, each with 118 element cards: With element names for both question and answer (beginner level) Only the “I have…” part includes the name , the question uses the symbol/number (intermediate level) Without element names – players must match based on symbol and atomic number alone (advanced level) Each version builds on the last and can be used flexibly depending on students' prior knowledge. The game works best with medium to large groups and encourages students to listen carefully, stay engaged, and support one another. Pre-K to 2nd Grade: The focus on early childhood developmentally appropriate foundational learning skills which includes the topics of use of environmental prosthetics, somatic awareness (awareness of the body), impulse inhibition, and developing an ability to co-regulate (worksheets 1 - 2). This would be appropriate for a 4 to 8-year-old child who is either autistic or has ADHD and experiences difficulty with sensory predictability or emotional regulation. 3rd to 5th Grade: Students at this grade level should be practicing the skills of upper elementary school co-regulated navigation, working memory expansion, and task initiation (worksheets 3 - 4). This would be appropriate for any student who displays signs of experiencing transitional anxiety or experiencing a working memory bottleneck. Middle School/ 6th to 8th Grades: The students in this age group should be able to internalize their tooling, develop cognitive flexibility, and work on their organizational systems (worksheets 5 - 6). In this SEL product, you will get SEL Flashcards for Social Emotional Learning. You will also get SEL coloring pages because there are two different pages of emotions/feelings. Both pages have a black and white version and a color version. The black and white version allows your students to color their own faces and images. The emotions listed are; happy, sad, silly, proud, shy confused, scared, excited, angry, tired, loving, sick, disgusted, cry, jealous, disappointed. These flashcards can be used for so many purposes. I have used these flashcards for Go Fish games where the students have to ask for a certain feeling. You will need to make two copies of the colored emotions poster to make this game work. If a student asks for "angry" and the student they asked has it, that student give the card to the one who asked and that student places the match down on the table and names a time they felt angry. I have also used this resource for memory games. You would, again, make two copies of each emotion. Then you would mix up the cards and place them face down (I would highly recommend cardstock) in a random order. Students then would choose two cards and reveal the emotion cards. If they are a match, then the student can share when they have felt that way. If it is not a match, they would place the cards face down again the the next student would take a turn. This is a fun and interactive game but also helps students discuss their feelings in a non-threatening way. This resource can be used as a whole class activity where students color their flashcards and then cut them out. They can randomly pick a card and name a time they felt that way. This can also be used as a center activity for Go Fish or Memory (as I described above). The ways to use these Emotion SEL Flashcards are endless!
