RESTART is a fantastic book for 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. I wanted to create a unit so teachers can use it at ease and for teachers to see their students grow. They grow because of the 30 chapter lessons. These lessons have core standards in them and are 1-16 or 1-10. Most of the questions consist of comprehension, homophones, vocabulary context clues, art, evidence, and figurative language. The 1-16 lessons have a 5-point multiple choice exit quiz for them. There is also a summary packet the kids can use for the shorter chapters. The comprehension and vocabulary worksheets allow the student to follow and learn the plot very well in a rigorous but fun way. There are also 10 vocabulary 1-12 fill-in-the-blank tests, too. The vocabulary words are challenging, but words that will help them during the story reading. There is also a 1-30 multiple choice final test. There is a research paper prompt and 5 RACES rigorous writing prompts. Finally, the students have a Student Reading Reference Page to help them with the figurative language in the book and assessments.

Dog Breeds Domino – A Calm Coloring & Matching Game for Elementary Students This printable domino game is a quiet and creative way for students to explore different dog breeds while practicing matching skills and early reading. The cards are all black and white, so students can color them themselves – something my third graders always look forward to. It gives them a sense of ownership over the material and creates a nice break from more structured tasks. The idea is simple: each domino shows either a dog breed name or a drawing, and students have to find the correct pairs. The illustrations are clear and recognizable, even without color, so they work well for younger learners or students still developing their vocabulary. The breed names are printed in an easy-to-read font, which helps build confidence in early readers. I’ve used this activity in a few different contexts: – as a quiet task for early finishers – in small group centers – during indoor recess on rainy days – or as part of a broader unit on animals and pets It also opens up room for short, low-pressure conversations – for example, “Which one do you think is the fastest?” or “Would you want a dog like that at home?” If you work with a therapy or school dog, like I do, it’s a great way to bring that connection into the classroom without needing a full lesson plan. The file includes 20 domino cards that you can print and cut out. I recommend using heavier paper or laminating the cards if you plan to reuse them. Depending on the group, you can let students color all the cards first or wait until they’ve completed a match. When the lesson focuses solely on adding and subtracting decimals, students are set up for major success right off the bat, not just in terms of performing the operations, but in their confidence with decimals. This guided lesson is super print and teach, so you can run a highly effective lesson on decimal operations without putting a ton of extra time into planning. The guided notes include explanations and worked examples that demonstrate explicitly how to line up decimals, carefully use place value, and regroup when necessary. Converting Fractions to Decimals Worksheet: Number Line Cut & Paste

Here’s a ready-to-go, visual assessment of your students’ understanding of decimal and fraction benchmarks! They simply cut and paste to show their comprehension of this topic. This is a great way for students with different ability levels (and English comprehension levels) to show their math knowledge: without being hampered by reading comprehension or written output challenges. This one-page assessment includes a number line from 0 to 1. Students first cut out 14 decimal and fraction pairs (common benchmarks like 1/2 and 0.333) and determine where they should be pasted on the number line. This ensures they know the decimal value of each fraction given and how to order them by size. For an extra challenge, 4 more fractions and decimals are given (such as 11/12- that are not familiar benchmarks). Students must estimate where they would be placed on the number line and glue them there. How to Use this Product: This product is designed to be a simple and quick assessment of fraction and decimal conversion, estimating, using a number line, and common fraction and decimal benchmarks. Of course, you could also use it as an activity in your unit, a homework worksheet, or a math centre. Grades to Use With: This product is well-suited for students in grades 4-6.
