Winter No Prep Math Worksheets (VA SOL aligned): Print these off and use them as formative assessments , classwork, homework, or when you need to be out for a sub day. They cover the following topics: -place value, rounding, comparing, and ordering numbers -bar graphs and pictographs -addition and subtraction and word problems -Multiplication and division -telling time (to the nearest minute), elapsed time (to the nearest hour), and equivalent time -counting money, comparing money, and making change -measuring length and capacity There are two sets of worksheets. The first set has between 8-10 questions per topic, except graphing which has fewer. Then there is a second set for those students who have the accommodation of shortening assignments, students who struggle to complete their work, or students who need to redo a sheet to get more practice. This second set has no more than 5 questions per topic, though it still covers all the topics listed above. The product also comes with an answer key for each worksheet. While all the worksheets are two-sided (or more), the answer keys are all on one page to make grading easier. This product was created with the 3rd grade Virginia SOLs, covering the SOLs of 3.1, 3.3, 3.15, 3.4, 3.6, and 3.9. It can still be used by other grades/states. They will also be updated to reflect the changes to the SOLs by winter next year. The beauty of these is you print them, copy them, and go. There is no set up, no lesson, no complicated word-code at the bottom, making them perfect quizzes or assessments , independent practice, or if you need to be out and need your students to practice a topic without much help from the sub, these will serve you well. All the worksheets have a winter theme and winter graphics, giving it a seasonal feel and making the activities feel more cohesive.

Bridging through 10 is a mental math technique used when a subtraction means 'breaking through' a multiple of 10 to get to the final answer. e.g. 23 - 7 = 16. This example bridges through 20. The process of bridging divides the subtraction into 3 simple steps each of which can be handled mentally in order to get to the final answer This resource has 2 parts 1. Almost Unlimited Worksheets Worksheet Set 1 Subtracting 1 digit numbers to 2 digit numbers, bridging up to 100 with visual support Worksheet Set 2 Pupils have the opportunity to practice this topic further either by using the visual method from Worksheet Set 1 or using their own graphics that support the concept of bridging. Almost Unlimited Worksheets ? At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so the questions change each time. This means you can create as many new worksheets you will need for practice throughout the year (classwork, homework, revision, fillers etc) or even give small groups of students in your class different sets of questions either at the same level or differentiated. There will certainly be enough to ensure fluency in this topic. As these worksheets need little explanation and no preparation, they are ideal if you need to leave work for a replacement teacher. Here’s an engaging, summer-themed, real-world math budget project for your middle grades students (in grades 5-8). The math project incorporates useful personal finance and financial literacy skills along with realistic budgeting. Each student in your class is going to plan their purchases for a summer camping trip with friends! How to Use: You will assign each student in your class a budget (I recommend between $400-$1,750). A $400 budget will be challenging, and the student might only be able to bring one friend and buy mainly low-cost items. On the other hand, a $1,750 budget will be much more luxurious, and that student will be able to more friends and choose many fancy items. Students work within their budgets, picking a low, middle, or high-cost choice for each category (tent, sleeping bag, cooler chairs, food and more). Certain items must be multiplied by the total number of campers while others (like a stove) do not. Students will add up their eleven choices and make sure they stay within their budget. They might need to make a few trade-offs and skip desired items to ensure they have the things they can't camp without. Finally, your students will calculate how much money they have left, and they will answer reflection questions shopping within a budget, earning more money, or buying things used.
