Exploring Friction Graphic Organizer & Worksheet
About This Product
If you are a science teacher who is searching for some engaging resources to incorporate with your students, I have just the resource for you. This is an Exploring Friction Graphic Organizer & Worksheet that your students will enjoy and learn a lot from. This is great for middle school students.
This is a 2-page printable that is all about exploring friction. On the first page, students will complete a graphic organizer that allows them to explore friction in a hands-on way. On the second page, students will answer reflection questions about their experiments.
Students will be working with a wooden block and a wooden block with weight. There are 3 different surfaces that they will explore pulling the wooden block on – tile floor, carpet, and rubber mat. Before they begin each experiment, they will make estimates on how much force they think it’ll take to pull the block against the particular surface.
You could choose to have students complete these experiments independently. This will also be impactful for students to complete together with a partner or small group. By doing so, students will share their estimates with one another before they begin the experiment. They will be able to share their rationale for their estimates.
I hope you enjoy!
