8th Grade Math Bingo Review #1

8th Grade Math Bingo Review #1
, Grade 8, Activities, Games

This PowerPoint Presentation contains 2 bingo games of 8 questions each. The topics covered are: find the missing side of a right triangle, find the distance between two points in the coordinate plane, solve for angle pairs formed by 2 parallel lines cut by a transversal, compare numerals in different forms (radical, decimal, mixed) rate-time-distance problems, find unit cost, find the approximate position on the number line for a radical •Directions for BINGO. •Have students to make a 4 x 4 game board. They will fill in the answers in random order. This way everyone has a different board but all of the answers. Put up the first 2 questions. When all students finish #1, you can change to the second page, which still has #2 but also #3 for those that have also finished #2. This allows some students to work ahead when ready. When everyone has finished #2, move to the next screen, which has #3 and #4 as some students will be ready for #4. Continue in this way. Students should put a mark in the corner of the square---Don’t have them completely mark out their answers in the first game because they will use this same board in the second game. •Students MUST show their work on paper to get credit for a BINGO. For the problems that don’t have work to show, they must explain their answer on paper. •The first game uses questions #1-8. In a regular size class there should be 5-6 bingos after this many questions. You can start the second game #9-10 or save that for another class time. Just make sure students save their board because both games use the same board. •I like to give a piece of candy (like jolly rancher) for BINGOs. I always help students with their problems since I used BINGO as practice not as an assessment.

Need to help your students in grades 5-8 learn how to plot ordered-pairs including negative numbers? Want to make sure they are engaged and focused while doing it? This activity will get them involved and allow them to take ownership over their learning as they create cute images on a four-quadrant Cartesian grid! At the same time, students will practice their math skills with integers and start to notice symmetry in ordered pairs. What happens when an ordered pair is symmetrical with another over the y axis? What about over the x axis? What do they noticed about the two digits in the ordered pair? Lots of great math talks can stem from this activity! Check out the three sections of this lesson: students graph a list of ordered pairs which will create an image of a cat: They need to be precise and careful during this process if they want to get the final product! students use a blank 4-quadrant grid to create their own design and record their ordered pairs in a list: They can be as creative as they like during this part of the lesson: creating an image from their favourite TV show or book! students use a friend's list of ordered pairs to re-create their design on a third 4-quadrant grid: They will be excited to see if they can accurately graph their friend's design! Grades to Use With: This project is perfect for students in grades 5-8 who are learning about graphing, plotting, and integers. It could also be used in high school special education classrooms. 6th Grade Math: Algebra Inequality Matching Game

6th Grade Math: Algebra Inequality Matching Game
Algebra, Math, Number Lines, Grade 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Activities, Games

Teaching your students about how to write and evaluate inequalities in algebra can sometimes end up being a bit dry. Try adding this game to your algebra unit to bring a little movement and collaboration to your classroom. It's a super simple game : just print the cards and cut them out. There are 32 cards in 16 pairs. Deal one card to each student in your class. They should spend half a minute looking at their card and thinking of other ways it could be represented. For example, if they have a number line: what inequality does it show? If they have an inequality, could it be simplified? Then, all the students get up and move around the room (SILENTLY!). They can use gestures while looking at each others' cards and trying to find their match. Pairs move to the side of the room until everyone is matched up. It's that simple! Of course, you could also use these cards for a standard memory game where you flip two cards at a time and try to find matches. I have also included a second set of cards that have pairs of fractions and decimals (for example 1/20 and 0.05). Grades to Use With: These cards are designed to target the standard 6EE.B.8 in grade six classrooms, but they could also be an excellent quick review in grades 7 and 8! What's Included: 9 Page PDF: Title/Instruction Page 4 Pages of Inequality Cards 4 Pages of Fractions and Decimal Cards If you enjoy this product, check out other 6th Grade Algebra Activities in my store: Pre-Algebra Problem: The Wave Pool with Expressions, Tables, and Graphs Algebra: Modelling Equations: Visual Balance Scale Worksheet Exponent Board Game Independent and Dependent Variables in 6th Grade Math: Hockey Math Middle School Math Stations: Early Algebra

Special Resources, Life Skills, Grade 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Games, Activities

In this Roll & Respond game , students will answer questions related to the 3 prongs of self-care; physical, emotional, and social. This game is played with 2 partners who each roll a number. One is for the across number and the other is for the vertical number. It is like the game of Battleship where they will then answer the question where the 2 numbers intersect. If they get a repeat, they can answer any on that line (vertical or horizontal). They can try and get Bingo or Blackout. If anyone rolls a 6, they choose the question. This is a great activity to follow a lesson on self-care.
