This is a How a Bill Becomes a Law Hexagon Project. This social studies project was designed for 8th – 12th grade students. Learning Intention: To explore the process of lawmaking by following a bill from being an idea to becoming a law. Task: You will be creating a hexagon foldable that explains the legislative process of lawmaking in a way that is easy to understand through the use of pictures and simple text. Directions: -Create a hexagon foldable that describes the legislative process of lawmaking. -Each flap must have the step number on the front with a picture (NO WORDS) and the description of the step on the inside of the flap. -The exposed middle area of the hexagon must have the title of the project ex: “How a Bill Becomes a Law.” -Text must be typed or NEATLY handwritten. Student hexagons must include: - The president’s role - The Senate’s role - The House of Representatives’ role - Role of committees - Role of a congressperson - Role of a citizen There is a Hexagon Project Rubric included. The rubric will score: -Description and content -Images -Organization and conventions You will print a blank hexagon template (included) for students to complete this task.
