The movie follows the story of a high school coach, Jim White, played by Kevin Costner, who moves to the small town of McFarland, California with his family. In McFarland, Coach White starts coaching the school's cross-country team, which is made up of a group of Latino students from low-income families. Despite initial challenges, Coach White is able to build a strong bond with the students and trains them to become a successful cross-country team.
