Social stories use a patient and reassuring tone to teach children about social situations in a way that can be easily understood. Social stories are particularly useful for children on the autistic spectrum for whom social cues can be challenging and who often suffer anxiety if they do not know what to expect from a situation however social stories can also be useful for any child who is struggling to understand a situation or concept or needs help to understand a social skill or social cue, expectations, perspectives, common responses or is troubled about an upcoming event. This social story is to explain what it means to cheat and why it is better for everybody when no one cheats. As a homeschool mom who has struggled with keeping my teenagers engaged in meaningful learning during those lazy summer days, I know how challenging it can be to maintain momentum without overwhelming busy schedules. That is exactly why I created these July ELA Bell Ringers – 23 carefully planned daily activities that take just 10-15 minutes but pack a real punch in terms of skill building. I have watched my own daughter groan at the thought of "summer school," but these quick, varied exercises actually get them excited about writing again. Each activity builds naturally on the previous day's work, creating a gentle but effective learning progression that keeps minds sharp without feeling like drudgery.
