These 7 worksheets are a great way to round out your unit focusing on life science in the forest ecosystem. Learners will engage in a variety of domains as they read, write, and use critical thinking skills. These learning activities begin with three pages of reading passages about animals that not only live in the woodland habitat, but also the desert, Arctic, and wetlands habitats. Your learners will read about unique adaptations of woodland animals such as the woodpecker, racoon, deer, bear, skunk, owl, porcupine, and fox. As a comparison, they will read brief paragraphs about the camel, snapping turtle, and narwhal as well. Following the reading passages are two sets of differentiated worksheets. With them, learners will write one, two, or three adaptations of woodland animals. They also have the opportunity to list adaptations for non-woodland animals, too. After creating their lists, learners will compare and contrast two woodland and non-woodland animals based on their specific adaptations. To complete the activity , there is an area for learners to illustrate their comparison writing. These are a great set of print and go activities that allow for differentiated learning across several subjects. All worksheets are available in a color version, as well as a black & white version.
