Practice reading SH words with these digraph word wall cards. These cards make a great wall display for a phonics focused word wall as well as a reference resource within a writing center . What is in this resource? This resource includes word wall cards for the digraph SH. This set contains both CVCC, CCVC, and CCVCC words in two different formats. On each card you will find an illustration which is representing a digraph SH word that is written in large font for students to recognize and read easily. Students will be able to match the illustration with the SH word. There are two sets included in this resource, one with words on the cards in black letters and the other have the rime highlighted in red. This allows students to easily blend onset and rime to read each word. How to use this resource: This resource can be used as word wall cards. This resource can be used as puzzles by cutting the picture from the word. This resource can be used in a writing center as reference cards This resource can be used as writing cards for a sand or salt tray The cards can be used as flash cards These cards can be easily differentiated, allowing students a variety of different activities to practice reading words with digraphs. This 'ou' set of 2 phonics anchor charts is excellent for acquainting children with words in the 'ou' spelling family, for both reading and spelling development. What is included in the pack? One brightly coloured 'ou' phonic anchor chart which can be used as a word wall, or for teacher use One black and white phonics anchor chart, which can be coloured by pupils What do the worksheets involve? The colour 'ou' anchor chart can be used as a word wall or as an aid to teaching the 'ou' digraph. The black and white anchor chart can be coloured by the pupil. The act of colouring helps the family of 'ou' words to be fixed together as a group of words in the child's memory. In addition, children can be encouraged to think of a story, using as many words on the 'ou' anchor chart as possible. How to use the anchor charts One of the great difficulties of learning digraphs, encountered by the middle and lower thirds of the class, is remembering which digraph to use for each word. For example, is it cake, or caik? By linking words in the same family together, children can be helped to overcome this difficulty. This is how this phonics anchor chart can help. Phonics Chart: Alphabet chart A Bright, colourful, phonetically correct alphabet chart ! A colourful A4-size alphabet picture chart to help children learn to recognise the upper and lower case letters of the alphabet. Each letter has a picture of an object that begins with that sound. 2 font styles are included. When children are first starting to learn letter shapes and sounds, it is helpful to have a handy reference chart that the children can use to aid recall or letter shapes and a picture cue to the sound each letter stands for. There are many ways to use these charts: Wall reference Desk reference - give one to each child; special needs children especially find them helpful. Wall reference: a wall chart Play quick games: Put a counter on the letter that says /t/, for example, and play until all letters are covered. Cut up the squares and ask the children to lay the letters in alphabetical order. Activities: Write me the sound that ...teddy... begins with: can the child write the letter straight away without looking? Does the child look for the picture of the teddy? Use to assess. There are many ways to use the alphabet flashcards Several activities are suggested: The child can be asked to match the whole set of letters, A-Z, with the matching pictures, by beginning sound. Sound match: Select the sounds you want your pupil to practice - the number can vary according to the needs of the child: find the matching letters and pictures, and either lay them on the table or, for more active children, you could place them around the room for the child to find.
