Here’s a quick way to include real-world math , finding the difference (subtraction), and number lines in your daily calendar routine each morning in kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade! Have your students record the day's high and the day's low temperature in your city on this large thermometer. Then you can find the difference : which is the daily temperature range! INCLUDES METRIC (℃) & IMPERIAL (℉) How to Use this Calendar Routine: • Note: This product is created to be printed on large 11x17 paper! • Print a large thermometer (with your preferred units C or F) in colour. • Laminate the thermometer. • Then hang it up as part of your morning calendar routine. • Each day, you will look up the day's high and the day's low temperature in your city. • With your students, record the date, the high temperature, and the low temperature on the laminated chart using a whiteboard marker. • Have one or two students come up to circle the high & low temperature on the thermometer. • Then students can help you calculate the difference between these two temperatures to determine the daily temperature range. Many strategies can be used: Counting the dashes in between the two numbers Using mental math or known benchmarks (make a 10) Using the standard subtraction algorithm How to Use This as a Worksheet: • You could also print a thermometer on legal-sized paper to use as a worksheet for your students to complete. This allows assessment of their knowledge of number lines measurement finding the difference integers (if using Celsius in the winter) Grades to Use With: This daily calendar routine is created for students in kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade. It could also be used in older elementary grades when introducing integers (if you use Celsius in the winter months). Finally, it could be used in life skills classes where appropriate. 3D Shapes Flash Cards (Anchor Charts) & Posters with Real-Life Examples for Preschool, Montessori, and Kindergarten I made these 3D shape cards visuals with young children in my mind. Many kids can name flat shapes, but it takes more time to understand the concept of 3D Shapes. In this resource, I have also included the visuals of real life examples to make the students understand the concept of solid shapes easily. This set includes flash cards that show common 3D shapes along with objects children realize they already know. Seeing the shapes connected to real things helps the idea click much faster. You may use these cards during circle time, small groups, and math centers. These cards can be used in different ways. Some teachers like to display them as posters or anchor charts, while others may use them as flash cards or sorting cards. I have included both the color as well as the black and white version of this resource, so you can print what works best for you. Practice reading WH words with these digraph word wall cards. These cards make a great wall display for a phonics focused word wall as well as a reference resource within a writing center . What is in this resource? This resource includes word wall cards for the digraph WH. This set contains both CVCC, CCVC, and CCVCC words in two different formats. On each card you will find an illustration which is representing a digraph WH word that is written in large font for students to recognize and read easily. Students will be able to match the illustration with the WH word. There are two sets included in this resource, one with words on the cards in black letters and the other have the rime highlighted in red. This allows students to easily blend onset and rime to read each word. How to use this resource: This resource can be used as word wall cards. This resource can be used as puzzles by cutting the picture from the word. This resource can be used in a writing center as reference cards This resource can be used as writing cards for a sand or salt tray The cards can be used as flash cards These cards can be easily differentiated, allowing students a variety of different activities to practice reading words with digraphs. Students can use these cards as a reference when writing stories, sentences, labeling pictures, or copying in a writing center .
