Communication Vocabulary Flashcards For Preschool, Montessori, and Kindergarten Bulletin Boards I created these communication vocabulary flashcards to help young children express their needs, feelings, and ideas in a simple and visual way. They work well especially for preschool, Montessori, and kindergarten classrooms, but they’re also helpful at home. All the picture cards inside are easy to understand and designed for children who are still developing speech, have limited language, or need extra support communicating. You can use them on bulletin boards, communication boards, and during small-group activities to encourage everyday real-life communication. I created this resource with very young children in my mind. What’s inside? This resource includes 40+ colorful picture cards with clear images and simple words. The vocabulary focuses on what young children need most during their day, including: Actions: bounce, walk, climb, crawl, spin, and more Emotions: happy, sad, mad, tired, thirsty etc. Questions: who, what, where and more Basic needs & words: yes, no, help, stop, more, finished etc. Objects: ball, toys, numbers, letters (vowels and consonants), toilet etc. People: mommy, daddy, sister, brother, teacher, friends etc. Food Habits: Vegan or Vegetarian Alphabet cards: consonants and vowels grouped separately for easy organization Each card includes a clear picture with one simple word to support understanding and communication. Resource features: Bright and child-friendly visuals that are easy for young learners to recognize Flexible use - these visuals are great for bulletin boards and communication boards. You can also use them as flashcards Easy to laminate for repeated classroom or home use These are perfectly sized so toddlers and young children can easily point to the cards Ways to use these flashcards: You can use these cards for/as: Classroom communication Place the cards on a bulletin board or wall at child height. Children can point to words like “thirsty,” “help,” or “play” when they need something. Flashcards Use the cards during small groups, matching games, or simple vocabulary practice. Speech & Language Support During circle time, ask questions like “How do you feel?” or “What do you want?” and let children respond by pointing to a card. A Portable Communication Tool Laminate the cards and place them in a small binder or ring to use during transitions, outdoor play, or on the go. Phonics Chart: Alphabet chart A Bright, colourful, phonetically correct alphabet chart ! A colourful A4-size alphabet picture chart to help children learn to recognise the upper and lower case letters of the alphabet. Each letter has a picture of an object that begins with that sound. 2 font styles are included. When children are first starting to learn letter shapes and sounds, it is helpful to have a handy reference chart that the children can use to aid recall or letter shapes and a picture cue to the sound each letter stands for. There are many ways to use these charts: Wall reference Desk reference - give one to each child; special needs children especially find them helpful. Wall reference: a wall chart Play quick games: Put a counter on the letter that says /t/, for example, and play until all letters are covered. Cut up the squares and ask the children to lay the letters in alphabetical order. Activities: Write me the sound that ...teddy... begins with: can the child write the letter straight away without looking? Does the child look for the picture of the teddy? Use to assess. Can you tell me which object begins with the sound ...../h/, for example. The child looks for 'h' and says 'house'. Let the children use their charts as they complete worksheets/write/spell. I originally made this chart for a special needs kindergarten child with cerebral palsy; although he knew his letters and the associated phonic sounds, his recall was poor - he could know them one minute and they had gone the next. He loves using his chart and has made rapid progress since I made it. It gave him security.

Digraph SH Word Wall Cards

Practice reading SH words with these digraph word wall cards. These cards make a great wall display for a phonics focused word wall as well as a reference resource within a writing center . What is in this resource? This resource includes word wall cards for the digraph SH. This set contains both CVCC, CCVC, and CCVCC words in two different formats. On each card you will find an illustration which is representing a digraph SH word that is written in large font for students to recognize and read easily. Students will be able to match the illustration with the SH word. There are two sets included in this resource, one with words on the cards in black letters and the other have the rime highlighted in red. This allows students to easily blend onset and rime to read each word. How to use this resource: This resource can be used as word wall cards. This resource can be used as puzzles by cutting the picture from the word. This resource can be used in a writing center as reference cards This resource can be used as writing cards for a sand or salt tray The cards can be used as flash cards These cards can be easily differentiated, allowing students a variety of different activities to practice reading words with digraphs. Students can use these cards as a reference when writing stories, sentences, labeling pictures, or copying in a writing center . The colorful, easy to recognize images will help students with learning unfamiliar words. In this SEL Posters resource, you will receive 2 child and student friendly posters informing students how to calm down and regulate their emotions. This will help students learn many different ways to manage strong emotions. These are perfect for calm down corners, take a break areas, reset areas, etc. One of the posters is titled A to Z Coping Skills. Some of the strategies on this poster include; ask for help, take a breath, use a fidget tool, drink water, eat a snack, listen to music, journal, squeeze a stuffy, identify emotions, go on a nature walk, use origami, be kind to yourself, play a game, visualize a happy place, yoga, read, squeeze a stress ball, quiet time, take a break and many more. The other poster is titled Calming Techniques and it includes strategies such as; draw or color, breathe, stretch, count to ten, ask for a hug, play in nature, hug a stuffed animal, play with a quiet toy, listen to music and more. These posters are wonderful to also send home. Parents often seek out help when their children are dysregulated at home. These are wonderful parent resources as well. These are suitable for pre-k, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade and even older. (Some adults have used these to help them!)
