Phonics Presentations: OR Lesson This is a simply taught, phonic lesson, to teach the sound 'or'. The video format can be easily shared. There is no distracting music, or any unnecessary pictures. Who is the Or video lesson for? It is suitable for all ages and abilities, including those with special needs. An adult should sit with the child for maximum benefit. It is better if an adult teaches the child him/herself, so this video can also be used to see how a phonic lesson can be taught, simply and cheaply at home. This Everglades reading comprehension contains the following: Pre-Reading Trivia Students will write down one thing they already know about the subject and then read five more facts and discuss. These facts are fun, and the students will enjoy learning about the subject before reading more. Reading Passage The text is a high-interest reading passage with set paragraphs, roughly three to four paragraphs long. It contains a variety of themes about the topic, anywhere from history to technology. The passage is between 250 and 350 words in length. Mixed Questions The first question page contains four multiple-choice questions, each with a choice of four answers, and three written response questions that require a sentence or two from the student. Creative Writing In this question, the student will be required to write a five to eight sentence paragraph on a question related to the topic. Extension Activities This page is optional for fast finishers. If there are five to ten minutes left at the end of the lesson, the student can choose one of three activities, each one requiring a different skill. Learn Initial Sounds H: Lesson 8 teaches the letter Hh and its related phonic sound through a 23-slide PowerPoint lesson, 5 follow-up activity worksheets and a print-and-play game. All you need to teach the phonic letter F! Whether in school or at home, this series of phonic presentations can help you effectively teach initial/beginning sounds to all pupils, including those with special needs/dyslexia. This lesson is part of a synthetic, systematic phonics programme for all abilities including those suspected of being dyslexic. This lesson is in the first stage of the Reading Made Simple programme where we teach the initial, or beginning, sounds. The ability to hear the initial/beginning sound is stressed throughout, while we learn to associate each letter with its sound. Each lesson can stand alone but the activities will presume knowledge of the previous letters in the alphabet as Reading Made Simple teaches the initial sounds in alphabetical order. Special features of the Learn Initial Sounds H: Lesson 8 The PowerPoint is silent so that you can interact with your child in the best way for them: full instructions are provided at the bottom of each slide - be sure to show 'Notes'. This product covers the 2016 Virginia (VA) Standards of Learning (SOL) 3.13: The student will identify and describe congruent and noncongruent figures. This product will also provide some extension for the 2023 VA SOL 3.MG .4 The student will identify, describe, classify, compare, combine, and subdivide polygons. It contains notes pages on the meaning of the word congruent, what qualities make two or more shapes congruent and what qualities do not. There are practice pages for each topic, with an answer key included. The notes pages come in two sizes. The first size is a full-page size. You can print them as-is. You can also print them two to a sheet (which is an option for most printers and copiers). This is what I do as it saves on paper and the sheets will fit in a spiral or composition notebook. The second size is formatted to fit on a standard composition notebook page (but it will also fit in a spiral notebook). Additionally, there are two links included in the pdf: one which opens a digital version of the notes, and another that opens a slide show version, optimized for a projector or interactive board.
