This is a Phonic spelling programme. Not only will it teach a child to spell, but also to write. Just add a good handwriting programme. The spelling programme can be used with all ages from 5 to 99, however, if used with a young learner I strongly advise using the programme to teach both reading and spelling at the same time. The spelling programme can be used: with children who have learnt to read, but need a spelling/writing programme with children who have tried another phonic programme and not made much progress with reading and/or spelling/writing with a special needs child who needs a very structured approach to learning by home educators by parents wishing to help their child at home About the programme The programme is very flexible and can be made to fit the child, rather than the child to fit the programme. Being highly structured, each new lesson builds on the one before, constantly revising the previously taught material The spelling programme will take 41 weeks to teach. One new sound is taught each week. What is included? This set of Silent E PowerPoint Flashcards has been created to help pupils differentiate between long and short vowel sounds. Many pupils, especially those with a processing difficulty, struggle to swap quickly from one to another, and therefore, much practice is needed. Aim and objective Once I start to teach Powerful ‘e’, I incorporate these flashcards into my daily lesson starter. My aim is that the child internalises the sounds so that on seeing a powerful ‘e’, they can say the right vowel sound and vice versa. This enables accurate blending and reduces frustration for the child caused by choosing the wrong vowel sound. How to use the Silent 'e' PowerPoint flashcards Work through the slides one by one. Teach the child to say the name made by the letters, followed by the word. They can use the picture as a cue. Do not underestimate the role of the picture to help the child give the correct sound. The more the correct sound is given, the sooner the child will internalise the sounds. Once the pupil seems confident, try using the set of slides without pictures! This can be done in stages, removing the pictures for the short vowel sounds first. Always return to the pictures if the child begins to choose the wrong vowel sound. We do not want them to struggle, even though we want to help them recall the correct sound. A balance must be found. What is included: Five vowel flashcards with picture cues Four Silent 'e' flashcards with picture cues (I do not teach E_E in the early stages as the few words with this sound that a child needs are best taught as sight words (e.g. here). Five vowel flashcards without picture cues Four Silent 'e' flashcards without picture cues An activity An Activity: The activity involves words appearing on the screen one by one. The child is asked: Does it have an ‘e’? Yes, or no. What sound will the vowel make? (short sound, or long name) Can you sound out the word using that vowel sound? Click for the next word. The words can be edited to change the activity. The PowerPoint is A4 format, so the slides can be printed out to form physical matching flashcards.

Beginning Sounds Picture Cards: Alphabet Chart and Alphabet Flashcards

Alphabet Chart and Alphabet Flashcards This is a bumper pack of picture/letter cards to help you to teach initial sounds, or beginning sounds. It can be used by many different groups of people: parents, home educators, private tutors, ESL teachers, EFL teachers, SEN/D teachers, and generally in the Pre-K, or K classroom. The Initial sounds Teaching Pack contains over 170 picture cards, spread over 20 pages. It is in full colour. All vowels are marked in yellow to help children to recognise these important letters. In the pack you will find: An alphabet chart which can be used for display, or even laminated to make a placemat. Children love to use this to check their progress and see the letters they have learned and can recognise. Then we have 3 plus pages of pictures with the sound underneath, followed by the same cards without pictures so that pictures can be matched to the letters. Then we have picture cards for each letter of the alphabet; we provide 2 sets of these to minimise the chance of children memorising that 'a' is for apple without really hearing the sound at the beginning of the word. These are followed by 26 lowercase letters and 26 uppercase letters. These can be matched to each other, or to the pictures. Simple games can be made - can the child find the lowercase letter, the uppercase letter and both pictures that begin with that sound? Finally, we have two strips of vowels - one with picture cues and one without for children to practice the al important vowel sounds before moving onto blending and to use as a handy reference while learning to blend. Laminate the cards for durability. This pack will make your life so much easier! Teacher instructions and suggestions for activities are provided. The ability to hear the initial/beginning sound of a word is a vital skill that is overlooked by many modern phonic programmes in the rush to get children to blend, but such a rush often leaves many children unable to blend as they cannot hear the initial sound of a word to start with. In turn, this leads to children who memorise CVC words, and from there on, learn to guess. Many of these children then do not make progress in reading, So this pack is very important to help make sure that every child not only knows the sound each letter makes but can hear that sound at the beginning of words. This A-E Digraph decodable reading book + matching PowerPoint and worksheets for guided reading is one of a series that can help children with special needs develop reading fluency. Each book has a matching PowerPoint, making it suitable for various settings. This book tells the story of Caligula's attempt to conquer Britain. The Jack Stories, of which this book is one, introduce one phonics sound at a time, and subsequent books build on the vocabulary of the books before, constantly revising and reviewing learned sounds. What makes this phonics reading programme for special needs different? · It has its own, easy-to-download and print phonics reading books, making it accessible to many children worldwide. · Each book carefully builds on the vocabulary of those that have gone before, providing much repetition, without relying on predictable text. · Pictures aid the storyline without encouraging reading from the pictures – i.e. guessing. · The vocabulary is based on phonics families, which are introduced in a carefully planned way. · True sight words – those that cannot be sounded out - are kept to a minimum. Most words are introduced in their phonic family wherever possible. · It is truly multisensory, using the power of the hand. We not only look at the words, but we write them too. This is powerful and has the bonus of turning the child not only into a reader but into a writer as well. Typical signs that this programme can help: Those with dyslexia, or suspected of having dyslexia Difficulty recalling words when seen on flashcards or when reading texts, which results in no or little reading fluency b/d letter reversal of a chronic nature – i.e. the child has not grown out of it Difficulty ordering letters in words: E.g. top becomes pot. Difficulty differentiating between like words: spoon/soon; back/black; sheep/sleep etc… Difficulty tracking words across a page How long is the book? The reading book is 16 pages long.

A beautiful set of twelve cards featuring my own hand-painted watercolor illustrations of animals and birds found in Israel. This pack also features an ID poster with all 12 species on (2 versions one titled wildlife of Israel, one titled wildlife of the Holy Lands). The species depicted here correspond to the ones that can be found in my Nativity storybook. To create a tactile finished item I highly recommend printing onto high-quality paper, I like to use watercolor paper as this means that every piece looks and feels like an original painting.
