Thanks!" "I teach middle school science and need to include informational text in my classroom. These readings are great for independent reading for my grade level and upper-level readers. The articles address CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RST.6-8.1 (Citing specific textual evidence to support analysis of science and technical texts.) and CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RST.6-8.10 (By the end of grade 8, read and comprehend science/technical texts in the grades 6-8 text complexity band independently and proficiently.). The leveled questions allow you to subtly assign the questions to different ability students working in a group. Topics are relevant to the students and current. Graphics draw the students into the article. I'm going to have one printed and waiting in for my substitute folder too! THANKS!" "Thanks for putting together a wonderful resource." "I teach Special Education high school science in Maryland in a special school for children with learning disabilities/Autism. I liked the readings and I think students could relate to the topics. I know these are too high a reading level for most of my students and I would read it out loud and highlight the important information together. I would not be able to use the higher-order thinking questions (which I like) with these kids. For my high students (very few of these in my school :), I really like these especially how you noted where you got the information which if they were inclined, they could go back to the original source. I like that you have scaffolded the questions and I would only be able to use these with a handful of students, but I think in a regular high school classroom (I spent many years in regular ed) these are spot on. Thank you for sharing." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each summary is rich with age-appropriate content (grades 8 and up) and is 2.5-3 pages long (13-font). Following each is a list of 8-13 questions along with the answer key, which will help guide your students understanding. How this product will help your students: - Improve their scientific and disciplinary literacy skills - Improve their reading comprehension and scientific knowledge - Give them insights into important scientific concepts - Provide an extension activity for your faster moving/more gifted students How this product will help you: - Allow you to meet the NGSS, TEKS and Common Core Standards - Provide you with a concise introduction to your topic - Provide you with an engaging and easy to leave substitute plan which will keep your students engaged and on task - Prove you a means of measuring your students' literacy skills We don't spend enough time teaching scientific literacy to our students. This is either because we don't have the resources to do so effectively or we don't have the time. However, teaching our students to become scientifically literate is vital if we want them to succeed in life. We need them to know about the world they live in and about the issues they face. Even issues as simple as the common cold are misunderstood and can lead to the misuse of antibacterial drugs eventually rendering them ineffective. It can be used as a tool in your teaching arsenal on a regular basis, an extension activity for your faster learners, left for a substitute in an emergency or planned absence or as an extra bit of information for a topic.

Shakespeare's Macbeth: Story Summary Worksheets and Tests
ELA, Reading, Grade 10, 11, 12, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
The sixteen Macbeth Story Summary Worksheets in this book have been written to help students understand the key points of this classic tale by William Shakespeare. Each two-page spread contains an answer key and a corresponding student page, and each worksheet covers a part of the play that can be read during a classroom period lasting approximately forty minutes. The Fill-in-the-Blank worksheets can be used in several different ways: - At the start of the class, as a “Do Now” activity ; - As an in-class assignment after a section of the play has been read; - As a homework assignment for students to complete; - As a quiz to measure student understanding of the play; - As a way to assist those students who are frequently absent from class; - As a way for the teacher to quickly review specific sections of the play. Every student worksheet contains twelve choices, and usually twelve blanks, unless otherwise specified. Special notes are included on the bottom of those pages where alternate directions are necessary. Appendix A includes five tests, one for each act of the play, along with the corresponding answer keys. Each test contains story ordering activities, as well as questions which require that the students write in full and complete sentences. Other types of questions, which differ from test to test, include character identification, multiple choice, true-false, and short-answer questions. In addition to the five tests, Appendix A also includes two essay questions. Appendix B contains a list of the five Common Core Reading Standards for Literature that this edition of the Macbeth Story Summary Worksheets & Tests helps students meet. The Story Summary Worksheets effectively and faithfully summarize the story of Macbeth. It is my hope that these Story Summary Worksheets & Tests will be useful for you and your students as you read this classic and timeless tale by William Shakespeare. If a student wishes to use this work independently in order to learn the story of Macbeth, he or she is advised to simply use a blank piece of paper in order to cover the ANSWER KEY until he or she has completed the student worksheet. If you find that this study guide for MacBeth is helpful to your students, please contact me with the names of other literary works that you use in class and I will see if I can write materials for them. Shell Model – Chemical Elements Flashcards - Element names
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Word Problems, Word Searches, Worksheets, Flashcards
Shell Model – Chemical Elements Flashcards 118 cards for learning the periodic table Learn atomic structure and the periodic table through play and visual learning 🧪🧠 These flashcards are designed to help students explore the structure of atoms using the shell model. Covering all 118 elements of the periodic table, each card includes the atomic number, element name, symbol, and a visual representation of the electron arrangement in shells. It’s a simple but effective tool for bringing abstract chemistry content into a more visual and interactive format. I’ve used this set in grades 7–10, both in introductory lessons and for revision. What worked especially well was printing the cards twice and using them as a memory game (“Find the Pairs”). Students match element names with their shell models or symbols – and along the way, they start to notice patterns: which elements belong to the same group, how many electrons fit in each shell, and what the outer shells can tell us about chemical reactivity. What’s included: 118 printable flashcards (PDF) – one for each element Each card features: atomic number, element name, chemical symbol, and shell model Suggestions for classroom use (games, sorting tasks, self-study) The cards can be used in a variety of ways: – As a memory game (matching name and shell model) – For group sorting activities (by group, period, metal/non-metal, etc.) – As quick quizzes in pair work – Or as visual aids when introducing atomic theory They’re suitable for different levels of difficulty. Beginners can focus on names and symbols, while more advanced students work with the shell diagrams and explain electron configurations. It’s also a helpful tool for differentiation – everyone works at their own pace, but with the same visual material. This resource comes as a PDF and is easy to print and prepare. Laminating the cards is a good idea if you plan to use them more than once. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from @Lernfitness Did You Know?
