About This Product
The art of writing regularly helps students become better writers. I have created writing units for each holiday and season during the year to help students master this skill in writing Narratives, Opinions, and Informative content for 3rd - 5th grade students.
This unit includes fun and engaging writing prompts centered around President's Day are perfect for upper grade students and can even be used for advanced 2nd graders or students in 6th grade.
Included in this writing unit are three Narrative writing prompts, three Opinion writing prompts, and three Informative / Explanatory writing Prompts. All writing prompts have President's Day themed content.
At the top of each prompt there is a short explanation that meets common core standards on how to better write their stories.
For the Opinion writing prompt, the heading states: Write an INTRODUCTION stating your opinion. Give three REASONS why your opinion is right. Write a CONCLUSION that ties back to your introduction and restates your opinion.
For the Narrative writing prompt, the heading states: Write an INTRODUCTION to describe the story / problem, setting, and the characters. Use dialog, and describe actions, feelings, and experiences. Use TEMPORAL WORDS to move the story along. Write a CONCLUSION that shows closure to your story.
For the Informative writing prompt, the heading states: Write an INTRODUCTION for the topic and make a statement. Develop the topic with facts, details, and definitions. Use LINKING WORDS to connect ideas and information. Write a CONCLUSION that ties in with your introduction statement.
Two different writing organizer pages for each type of writing prompt are also included.
Each writing page has fun festive borders for students to display on bulletin boards and to help encourage interesting writing!
