22, Taylor Swift - BUCKET DRUMMING!

Need to connect with your kids with their pop music through general music? Involve them in bucket drumming with Taylor Swift's smash hit "22" There are three all-color coded slides along with the form identifiers listed next to each phrase. Discuss form with the students and teach them (by rote) the rhythms on the powerpoint with the corresponding repeats (most are repeated 3 or 4times). Then, apply it to drums! Pre-Algebra: No Prep Evaluate Expression Input Output Game

Here's an easy, no-prep partner game for your unit on expressions, graphing, variables, tables, and patterns! How to Use: Simply project the expressions on the interactive whiteboard and students become an input output machine (speaking in a robotic voice is, of course, optional). They secretly choose an expression and calculate outputs for their partner's inputs. This is great mental math practice too! There are two levels of difficulty to help all of your students participate. Level one expressions are one step (adding, subtracting, OR multiplying). Level two expressions are two step (multiplying AND adding or multiplying AND subtracting). Teacher Instructions: o Project these tables on the interactive whiteboard. o Students work in pairs. o One member starts as the “expression machine.” They secretly choose an expression from either table. o Their partner tells them an input number. They put it into the expression and say what the output would be. o Play until the partner can guess what expression they chose. Then switch roles. Grades to use with: This fun math game could work well in classrooms with students in grades 5-8. It could be an introduction to algebra in the younger grades or a warm-up for older students. TinkerCAD step-by-step instructions for 3 different whistles. Students only need to know the bare basics to complete this. I tested this with a fifth-grade class and most could complete it with no help. Designed to print with no supports for easy printing. PDF file with TinkerCAD step-by-step instructions for 3 different whistles with 32 pages. I have used this instructions with students as young as 5th grade and as high as 12th grade. The 5th graders needed some help and guidance but middle schoolers and high school students usually did not need any help at all. 5th and 6th grade classes took about 2 hours to finish the project. Middle schoolers took about 1 hour, and high school students took about 30-40 minutes to finish. The referee whistle works like a regular whistle. The slide whistle works and make different sounds be sliding the insert back and forth to make different pitches. The train whistle works by having different lengths of hollowed out tubes which generate different pitches. Very detailed instructions. Students are expected to be familiar with TinkerCAD, and know the basics. There is a TinkerCAD tool guide within the instructions to aid in learning TinkerCAD. Here's a no-prep math geometry game that will get your students excited to measure the perimeter of compound shapes (also called complex shapes or composite shapes). It's a simple dice game that actually uses a fair bit of strategy- so your students can start to figure out ways to win as they play more than once. They will be calculating the perimeter of a variety of compound complex or composite shapes. Students can also learn more by calculating the area of the shapes they create throughout the game! A sample round of the game is included to teach it easily to your students! How to Use: 1) Player One picks a starting spot. They roll and draw a line the length of their roll. 2) Player Two begins their turn at the end of Player One’s line. They roll and draw a line the length of their roll. 3) Once the perimeter of the shape is over forty units, the first player to complete the shape wins the game! 4) If you can not close the shape with the rolls given, it will be a tie. 5) BONUS: Both players can calculate the area of the complex compound or composite shape. Grades to Use With: This game is designed for students in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th grade who are learning about calculating perimeter using whole numbers on a variety of complex compound or composite shapes. It is also a great way to develop strategy skills and even talk about probability (what is the chance I will get the roll I need to complete this shape?).
