He is also known for developing a water intake tunnel to help save workers who were trapped fifty feet beneath Lake Erie. Morgan co-founded the Cleveland Association of Colored Men which later merged with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The NAACP is a civil rights organization formed in 1909 to advance justice for African Americans.
