Writing Center Words & Write-the Room Activity – BEACH

Help your students write about fun at the beach with these sixteen beach themed words and images for your K-2 classroom Writing Center . Words with images include ball, beach bag, bucket, crab, chair, flippers, sandcastle, seagull, shells, shovel, starfish, swim shorts, swimsuit, surfboard, towel, and umbrella. My students LOVE the Writing Center ! I have lots of tools and “help” available for them, plus these themed word pages which they adore. I actually print two of each, so there is no fuss about having to share, and I laminate them before placing in the Writing Center for durability. Having laminated themed word pages, students can easily grab one and use it to help write their stories. Page 4 of the PDF is for the Writing Center . Print and laminate one or two and place it in the Writing Center for your students to access as needed. Also included are 16 cards for a Write–the–Room activity if you choose to use them. (I have only used this with my Kindergarten class.) These cards are four-per-page, with the same words and images used for the Writing Center . Pages 5-8 of the PDF are cards for use as a Write-the-Room activity. You may wish to laminate for durability to be able to use year-after-year, and use sticky tack (poster putty) to mount it to walls, bookshelves, file cabinets, etc. I find this is easier than tape. On of my grade-level teachers prints in gray scale, tapes them up, and then lets students take them home after use. Whatever works best for you. Recording pages for the Write-the-Room are included on pages 9 and 10. Page 9 is a full-size recording sheet, and page 10 has 2 half-size recording sheets if you use mini-clip boards like I do. Please note - the first three pages are for "packaging" purposes.

This letter J beginning sounds and handwriting activity includes real photographs to practice learning to recognize, write and identify the sound of the letter J. Each picture has bold colors and includes easily recognized pictures. Each activity can be used in a literacy center for students to practice letter recognition. What is Included: There is an instructional page with printing instructions. There are letter I posters with various letter J words. There are handwriting task cards that allow students to practice writing the letter J as well as words that begin with the letter J. There are beginning sound clip cards that allow students to practice clipping the images that begin with the letter J. There is a sorting activity where you sort pictures that begins with J from words that do not begin with J. The letter J sorting cards that can also be used to play memory, matching, or concentration games. These cards can also be used during a lesson in a pocket chart as well as for a center display. When to Use: All of the activities make great literacy centers, by placing each set of activities in the center and letting students complete activities alone or with a partner. These activities make great morning tub activities. Just place these activities in morning bins for students to complete as their classmates arrive to class. Skills Assessed: These activities assess letter recognition skills, beginning sounds, handwriting, and sorting skills. Each activity in this set is low prep. Each activity just needs to be printed out, cut apart, and laminated if desired. When you laminate the writing cards, you can create a writing center activity that is reusable is you add dry erase markers. The handwriting cards and beginning sound clip cards can be turned into task box activities.

Let's write about Autumn! Help your students write about fall fun with these sixteen autumn themed words and images for your K-2 classroom Writing Center . Words with images include tree, falling leaves, leaf, rake, tractor, hayride, pumpkin patch, pumpkin, hay bale, corn on the cob, corn field, scarecrow, harvest, acorn, and squirrel. My students LOVE the Writing Center ! I have lots of tools and “help” available for them, plus these themed word pages which they adore. I print two of of these, so there is no argument about having to share, and I laminate them for durability before placing in the Writing Center . Students can easily grab one and use it to help write their stories. Page 4 of the PDF is for the Writing Center . Print and laminate one or two and place it in the Writing Center for your students to access as needed. Also included are 16 cards for a Write–the–Room activity if you choose to use them. (I have only used this with my Kindergarten class.) These cards are four-per-page, with the same words and images used for the Writing Center . Pages 5-8 of the PDF are cards for use as a Write-the-Room activity. You may wish to laminate for durability to be able to use year-after-year, and use sticky tack (poster putty) to mount it to walls, bookshelves, file cabinets, etc. I find this is easier than tape. On of my grade-level teachers prints in gray scale, tapes them up, and then lets students take them home after use. Whatever works best for you. Recording pages for the Write-the-Room are included on pages 9 and 10. Page 9 is a full-size recording sheet, and page 10 has 2 half-size recording sheets if you use mini-clip boards like I do. Please note - the first three pages are for "packaging" purposes.

Coelacanth is one of the most popular pieces of evidence that evolutionary scientists use to prove their theory about the age of the earth. But Coelacanth was discovered living in the early 20th century. Not only was this “extinct” fish discovered alive and well, but it was also apparently the same with no major changes compared to the original fossil discovered and dated 65 million years. So, if macroevolution is true, should the coelacanth still be used as evidence of evolution or old age. If so, why are there no apparent changes in this specific animal? These are questions to be pondered by students who read the short article and answer the questions included in the activity. This reading comprehension activity includes the link to the article discussing the discovery and what this might mean to the overall picture painted for the public regarding the evidence. Writing Center Words & Write-the Room Activity – Fairy Tale

A favorite with my students! Help your students write about fairy tale fantasy with these sixteen fairy tale themed words and images for your K-2 classroom Writing Center . Words with images include: carriage, castle, crown, dragon, fairy, frog, horse, knight, mirror, prince, princess, queen, rainbow, slipper, treasure, and magic wand. My students really love working in the Writing Center ! I have plenty of tools and “help” available to them, and these adorable fairy tale themed word pages which they adore. I print two copies, so there is no arguing about having to share, and I laminate them for durability before placing in the Writing Center . Students can easily grab a laminated word page and use it to help write their stories. Page 4 of the PDF is for the Writing Center . Print and laminate one or two and place it in the Writing Center for your students to access as needed. Also included are 16 cards for a Write–the–Room activity if you choose to use them. (I have only used this with my Kindergarten class.) These cards are four-per-page, with the same words and images used for the Writing Center . Pages 5-8 of the PDF are cards for use as a Write-the-Room activity. You may wish to laminate for durability to be able to use year-after-year, and use sticky tack (poster putty) to mount it to walls, bookshelves, file cabinets, etc. I find this is easier than tape. On of my grade-level teachers prints in gray scale, tapes them up, and then lets students take them home after use. Whatever works best for you. Recording pages for the Write-the-Room are included on pages 9 and 10. Page 9 is a full-size recording sheet, and page 10 has 2 half-size recording sheets if you use mini-clip boards like I do. Please note - the first three pages are for "packaging" purposes.
