Students can practice reading comprehension skills with these IN word family mats. Students can practice reading IN words in isolation and in the context of sentences. The words in this set follow a CVC or CCVC spelling pattern. Included in this resource: This resource includes one word mat and one sentence mat, both for reading IN words in insolation and in context. There are also picture cards that correspond with each word and sentence. To complete this activity, students will read each IN word or sentence on the mat and then match the corresponding pictures. Students can work independently or with a partner to complete this activity. How to Use these Id word Family Mats: The students can simply lay the images on top of the word or sentence. Here is a simple game to help children learn to read CVC words with the medial sounds O and U. This game will help your child to learn to blend three-letter words with the short vowels ‘o’ and 'u'. That means, to put sounds together to make a word. The child has to be able to feel and hear the word that is being sounded out. This game is supplied in both colour and black and white - you choose how you print! We suggest laminating the pieces for durability. Who is the CVC Words Phonic Matching Game: O and U? Those who are just beginning to sound out/blend CVC words with the O and U short vowel sounds. These may be: Young learners Special needs learners ESL/EFL learners of any age. Who can use the CVC Words Phonic Matching Game: O and U? Parents Homeschoolers/home educators Teachers in class, or for use in centers Those involved in intervention work Private tutors How can the CVC Words Phonic Matching Game: O and U be used? It can be played as a game for 2 players It can be used as a matching activity for individual pupils - great for centers! It can be used for assessment purposes The game pages can even be used as worksheets - you choose! To make the CVC Words Phonic Matching Game: O and U Simply print out the two baseboards. Print out the word cards and cut them up. Teach your pupil to take care of the cards and not bend them more than can be helped. To play the CVC Words Phonic Matching Game: O and U Take a baseboard each. Scatter the word cards face down. Take it in turns to take a word card. Read it. If it matches a picture on your baseboard, place it in the correct space. If not, return it to the pool of cards. Play continues until someone completes their board, or until all the cards are used up. Teaching tips: Demonstrate how to sound out a word when it is your turn and invite your pupil’s help when it is your turn, so s/he gets even more practice. Your pupil will need a lot of blending practice so be patient. If your pupil has difficulty sounding out these words then spend more time practicing blending before playing the game again. This is a Literacy Center Packet for your Kindergarten and first-grade students. Literacy Centers are a great way to extend learning. This simple Prep resource gives the students the opportunity to be creative, to write, and to draw. The sentences are simple to read, fun to color, and challenging enough to practice comprehension. Students practice important skills such as left to right writing, starting sentences with a capital letter, using proper spaces between words, and ending with a period. The writing page has reminders at the bottom and encourages students to check their work. Students will practice writing sentences and drawing pictures. These are great worksheets for center time. Students will need watercolors or markers, and a pencil. Students will be asked to: 1. Look at the picture at the top of the page. 2. Read and trace the sentence with a marker of your choice. 3. Draw a picture depicting the sentence. 4. Write another sentence on the back to tell about the picture. 5. To extend the concept, have students use adjectives to describe the picture. All you have to do is print and go. This resource is a PDF and has a total of 20 pages for students to practice!

This ready-to-go set of 5 stations will supplement a unit about factors, multiples, prime and composite numbers. Math stations or centers are a great way to get students engaged as they move about the room and work collaboratively with their peers. Even when students are in middle school or the intermediate grades, they benefit from a variety of teaching strategies including the use of stations or centres! But they are a lot of work to prepare! Let me do the work for you! Station 1: Students solve 4 riddles/word problems involving factors and multiples. (optional: set out white boards for students to use) Station 2: Students play a game using 10-sided dice. (supplies needed: pairs of dice) Station 3: Students choose two numbers to investigate and learn about common factors and multiples. (optional: set out an anchor chart about factors vs multiples) Station 4: Students review prime and composite numbers and make prime factor trees. (optional: set out laptops or tablets for the online game extension) Station 5: Students apply what they have learned to a real-life problem, and practice writing and drawing about their mathematical thinking. (optional: set out counters for students to use) Ways to Use: You can break your class into 5 groups and have them rotate one at a time through the centres, giving them 10-20 minutes at each one. Or, start students at certain centres and then allow them to move around at their own pace as long as no one centre gets too full. I find these are a great resource as you are finishing your unit and preparing for the unit test. Grades to Use With: These stations work well in grades 4-7 classes or high school special education. Standards: CCSS4.OA.B.4 Find all factor pairs for a whole number in the range 1-100. Recognize that a whole number is a multiple of each of its factors. Determine whether a given whole number in the range 1-100 is a multiple of a given one-digit number. Determine whether a given whole number in the range 1-100 is prime or composite. CCSS6.NS.B.4 Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Use the distributive property to express a sum of two whole numbers 1–100 with a common factor as a multiple of a sum of two whole numbers with no common factor. For example, express 36 + 8 as 4 (9 + 2). Students can practice reading comprehension skills with these IT word family mats. Students can practice reading IT words in isolation and in the context of sentences. The words in this set follow a CVC or CCVC spelling pattern. Included in this resource: This resource includes one word mat and one sentence mat, both for reading IT words in insolation and in context. There are also picture cards that correspond with each word and sentence. To complete this activity, students will read each IT word or sentence on the mat and then match the corresponding pictures. Students can work independently or with a partner to complete this activity. How to Use these IT word Family Mats: The students can simply lay the images on top of the word or sentence. They can be placed in a file folder utilizing hook and loop fasteners to attach the images. A magnetic activity can be created by using a baking sheet and magnets to affix the images. Students will love the hands-on nature of this activity.
