Long and Short E: Quiz Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game Note 1: Upon opening you will come across a password prompt. Press 'read only'. Note 2: You may need to allow ActiveX controls to use the scoreboard. The game starts will the front screen. Press the arrow in the bottom right to move onto round 1 - short E. There are ten questions in each round, click on one of these buttons to go to that question. There are a mix of options and marks available. Click on the correct answer. Incorrect answers will go dim. Correct answers will flash, all the incorrect answers will dim, small picture will appear. At this point if you are using the scoreboard, click on scores. You can edit any of the boxes and don't need to leave slideshow to edit it - the team names and scores. Simply input using keyboard. You can't save this to use another time in the future but you can use it for as long as the PPT is open. From there you can go to Round 1 or 2 by clicking on the buttons at the bottom. Upon returning to the question screen, any questions already answered will be blank (ie. no text) so you can keep track of those answered. Once you finish round 1 the button for round 2 is on the round 1 question board or alternatively from the scoreboard. About the Game This is a comprehensive, fun and interactive letter E phonics review game that has it all. With a round dedicated to both short and long E, students will practice reading phonics words while enjoying themselves at the same time. There is a real opportunity to play in teams and with 20 questions available, each with multiple options as answers, this sure is a way to get the whole class involved. In the first game, one picture will slowly appear (20 seconds long). Press the cookie in the bottom-left to begin, press again to reveal the answer. Press the arrow in the bottom-right to change to the next page. There are 9 questions in total Second game is similar but there will be two pictures appearing at the same time. Press the donut in the bottom-left to begin. The pictures will appear on the clock, press the pink clock button next to the picture that corresponds to the word at the top. Wrong answer will buzz, correct answer will make a noise and both pictures will be fully revealed. Press arrow in the bottom-right to change page. 4 questions in total. Last game will review the words from the previous game. Word is at the top, four pictures below, choose the correct picture for the word. Incorrect answers will dim out, correct answer will flash. Again, arrow in the bottom-right for the next question. 8 questions in total. About the Game This mix of long I phonics games will give students a perfect way to practice key long I words. Press go again when students have guessed the right word. Word will appear under. Arrow will move onto next page. 3. What do you see? Click one of the pieces and it will slowly fade away. Press it again for it to disappear completely and word to appear underneath. 4. Up Close: Guess what the up close picture is on the left. Press the jigsaw pieces for the normal sized picture to appear with the word. 5. Speed Words: Several ways you could play this. With a range of clues and eye-catching pictures, the pace of the game allows the teacher to control the time to fit their own needs. Playing the Game After the front slide the game begins. First rounds are easier with less pictures. Later rounds are harder with up to 9 pictures at the end. Teams will take it in turns to answer. Gameplay Taking round 1 as an example. Three pictures are shown. After 10-15 seconds they will disappear. Students are to try and follow at least one of these pictures. Click the go button to begin. The three pictures will mix between themselves and end in a different position. Team A goes first. Anybody in the team can answer. Say the number and then the word. Click on the card to see if the answer is correct - 1 point per correct answer. After Team A have answered. Offer the chance for Team B and subsequently C, D etc in order. to answer. Attempt to get all of the cards answered before moving on. Click on the arrow to continue to round 2 . If you ever need to replay a round, you can press the refresh button on the left side. As the game goes on, you may want to change the rules by allocating 2 words for each team to follow with bonus points if they can answer any other words. With a variety of difficulties and short A/long A words, this is the ideal review game. Many students will be able to get involved in each round and with ten rounds, the whole class will enjoy themselves while practicing phonics at the same time. 21 slides. 10 rounds. Short and Long A practice - question prompted by pictures. Short A words used: cap, hat, bag, man, dad, ham, map, can, bat, pan, mat, tag, sad, jam, cat, fan. In the first round, click on the numbers in order to reveal clues. There is no in-built points system giving the teacher full control over how you wish to grade the game. Clues range in difficulty with the majority of first clues harder and the last clue making it easier to guess. Press the box to reveal the final picture (the word itself). The reveal box can be done at the end if you wish to reveal the letters bellow first; the word is spelled in the boxes at the bottom, click on each box to reveal a letter. Round two offers a similar style but clues are in picture format. There is no reveal box but letters at the bottom as in round 1. There are arrows to move to the next slide throughout. About the Full Game (available in the ppt game links section below) This game offers a chance to practice a range of skills and gives the teacher control over how they want students to answer. Given a mix of clues in word and picture format, teachers can reveal each letter in the answer individually. Playing the Game After the first page, there is a quick intro to the game. After this the first train sequence will begin. There will be some winter scene outside along with seven letter I words. This is automated and will move onto the question page automatically. On the question page you will have four options, choose the select button for the right answer. If you wish to watch the animation again, you can click the back button. After the correct answer has flashed, press next and the next train animation will start. Questions vary in difficulty so you may need to play the animation more than once. About the Game Bring some fun to your phonics review lessons with this letter I review game. Set inside a train, there are a mix of questions to practice 16 key words. One difference with this game is the question will come after the words have appeared so students have to pay attention to everything they see. Questions go from easy to difficult. Playing the Game There are two rounds in this game, the arrow in the bottom right will navigate you through the powerpoint. Round 1 - 6 Stars 1 Question Static: A question will appear in the middle of the screen and there will be six stars containing words that surround it. Choose the correct word for each question. Correct answer will flash, incorrect will dim. (8 questions) Round 2 - 6 Stars 1 Question Moving: Similar concept to round 2 but this time after seeing the clue, the six stars will fly in and out across the screen one-by-one. Quickly click on the correct star. If you fail there is a chance to repeat the slide. There is a quick ready message before each question, this will move on automatically. Playing the Game After the titles and information about the game, the first game will begin. Students will be shown a close-up photo of an object and have to guess what it is. Press the = button for the answer and the original photo with word will appear. Press the arrow button to move onto the next question. 6 questions in total. Second game is a memory game. Starting with three pictures and ending up with six, students have ten seconds to observe the pictures on the screen, then need to say the words they remember. The picture page will automatically move on after ten seconds but if you wish to move on yourself quicker then there is an arrow button. In the answer screen, answers will flash if correct, dim if incorrect. Finally game is more like a question and answer, but in two parts. In the part, there will be a clue and 3-6 words to choose from. Press the correct answer. In the second section you will get the reverse, one word and then two to three clues to choose from. Choose the correct clue for the word. Includes arrows to move onto the next page. About the Game These three quiz show games will give you the perfect opportunity to practice key long I vocabulary and practice the long I sound. What’s Inside: 4-100 piece puzzles Full-color answer pages Simple printing and cutting tips These puzzles work well with Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten, and the higher-piece versions can challenge Grade 1–2 students. I usually print the pages on cardstock and laminate them so they last longer, especially if they’re going into a center. How to Use: Just print, cut, mix, and let students put the puzzle together. The smaller-piece puzzles are great for fast finishers, and the bigger ones are perfect for students who like a challenge. Playing the Game After the front slide the game begins. First rounds are easier with less pictures. Later rounds are harder with up to 9 pictures at the end. Teams will take it in turns to answer. Gameplay Taking round 1 as an example. Three pictures are shown. After 10-15 seconds they will disappear. Students are to try and follow at least one of these pictures. Click the go button to begin. The three pictures will mix between themselves and end in a different position. Team A goes first. Anybody in the team can answer. Say the number and then the word. Click on the card to see if the answer is correct - 1 point per correct answer. After Team A have answered. Offer the chance for Team B and subsequently C, D etc in order. to answer. Attempt to get all of the cards answered before moving on. Click on the arrow to continue to round 2 . If you ever need to replay a round, you can press the refresh button on the left side. As the game goes on, you may want to change the rules by allocating 2 words for each team to follow with bonus points if they can answer any other words. About the Game If you want an exciting way to practice letter A phonics words, this is the game for you. With a variety of difficulties and short A/long A words, this is the ideal review game. Playing the Game After the front screen the game begins. First round is short O, second round is long O. There are navigational buttons at the top of the screen. The Grid will appear with a word on the left side. Choose the correct picture for each word. Correct answer will flash, incorrect answer will dim. Coordinates are provided.
