Sunflowers – Factual Interview Text, Glossary & Student Profile

Sunflowers – Factual Interview Text, Glossary & Student Profile
STEM, Science, Life Sciences, Thanksgiving, Holidays, Holiday & Seasonal, Summer, Seasons, Biology, Nature & Plants, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Activities, Worksheets & Printables, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Worksheets, Projects, Presentations, Templates, Centers, Classroom Decor

Sunflowers – Factual Interview Text, Glossary & Student Profile A differentiated reading activity on Helianthus annuus for grades 3–7 🌻📚 This resource offers a creative and low-prep way to introduce your students to one of the best-known summer flowers: the sunflower (Helianthus annuus). Using an age-appropriate factual text in the form of an interview, this lesson invites students to learn more about the plant’s features, growth, and significance – all while practicing reading comprehension and working independently. The main text is written as an interview with a sunflower, which makes the content more relatable and engaging for younger learners. It’s differentiated into two versions (standard and simplified) to support mixed-ability groups. A glossary is included for both versions to support vocabulary development and help students access the content on their own. What’s included: Factual text in interview form (2 levels of difficulty) Glossary for each version of the text Printable student profile to be completed after reading Photo of a sunflower (self-taken, for classroom use) Answer key for the profile Optional extension task for early finishers All materials in both full-color and black-and-white versions Format: PDF Classroom ideas: Start the lesson with the sunflower photo as a silent impulse or discussion starter. Use guiding questions like: “Do you know this flower?” or “What can you tell about it?” From there, you can assign the text to pairs or small groups – or have it performed by two students, one acting as the sunflower, the other as the reporter. It’s a simple way to add some movement and creativity to factual reading. The profile helps students consolidate what they’ve read, and the glossary encourages independent clarification of unknown words. For quick finishers, there's a short research task on the healing properties of sunflowers, offering a meaningful extension. This material works well as part of a science or language arts lesson and is also easy to use in a substitute lesson. No extra prep required – just print and start. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from @Lernfitness Did You Know? Soccer World Cup 2026 Pennant Banner – Canada Classroom Decoration

Soccer World Cup 2026 Pennant Banner – Canada Classroom Decoration

World Cup 2026 Canada Pennant Banner This Canada pennant banner was createdƒ for the World Cup period. Students often notice international events, so adding a small decoration felt like a simple way to reflect that. The banner can be printed in color, but I sometimes use the black-and-white pages first so my students can color a few pennants before assembling them. After cutting, the pieces can be connected with string or ribbon. I hung the finished banner along a shelf, although it also works above the board or on a classroom door. The layout is straightforward and doesn’t feel too busy, which helps when it stays up for several days. Depending on time, the activity can be skipped and the colored version used directly. Both options are easy to prepare. The file is provided as a printable PDF. Laminating is optional if you plan to reuse the banner later. I’ve found this type of decoration useful during tournament weeks, especially when you want something visible without changing the regular lesson flow. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from @Lernfitness

Blank Writing & Activity Sheets – Spring Theme Flexible, decorative pages for writing, drawing, music, or custom classroom materials 🌸✏️ PNG + PDF These printable pages are designed to bring a little seasonal color and calm into your classroom. With soft spring-themed decorations and no pre-set lines, you can use them in almost any subject or context. Whether your students are writing stories, solving math problems, or composing short pieces of music, these sheets give them a gentle, creative frame to work within. What I appreciate about using open-format pages like these is the flexibility. Sometimes, we just need something that’s visually appealing but still leaves space for our own content – and that’s exactly what this resource offers. What’s included: A selection of blank decorative worksheets in a spring design No lines, so you can add your own structure (or none at all) Soft seasonal visuals – not too distracting, but motivating PDF format – for printing or digital notebooks (GoodNotes, Notability, etc.) PNG Format Ideas for classroom use: I’ve used these sheets in many ways over the years – as writing paper for creative assignments, as a quiet-time drawing prompt, or even for student-made math problems. Some students enjoy using them for reflection journals or personal check-in pages. They're also great for differentiated use: students can write a paragraph, draw a process, list keywords, or create a mind map – all on the same page layout. If you’re working in a digital environment, the files can easily be inserted into apps like GoodNotes and filled in with a stylus. Sometimes it’s the small details – like giving students a beautiful sheet of paper – that makes an activity feel more special and worth their time. Best, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? This fun and festive activity gets kids thinking about what makes their Thanksgiving celebrations uniquely theirs, whether it’s a feast fit for royalty or a day spent dodging burnt stuffing disasters. Writing and drawing take center stage in this perfect blend of reflection and hilarity. First, students will dive into their family’s traditions. Do they watch football with a side of pie? Go on a turkey trot that’s more “stroll” than “run”? Or perhaps their family’s tradition involves grandma’s famous sweet potato casserole (with a marshmallow topping so high it needs its own zip code). Kids will craft their best descriptive writing, sharing the quirks, laughs, and delicious details of their Thanksgiving Day. Next comes the artistic twist! Students will illustrate their favorite tradition. Whether it’s a turkey-shaped centerpiece, a chaotic kitchen scene, or Uncle Bob snoozing in front of the TV with pumpkin pie crumbs, these drawings bring their stories to life. This activity isn’t just about celebrating Thanksgiving traditions, it’s about discovering what makes the holiday truly special: food, family, and enough laughs to stuff your heart as full as your plate! Turn Thanksgiving nostalgia into a creative masterpiece with the A Special Thanksgiving Memory Writing Prompt! This activity invites kids to stroll down memory lane (or at least last year’s kitchen chaos) to write and draw about their favorite Thanksgiving moment. Whether it’s Grandma’s famous pumpkin pie, a hilarious turkey mishap, or the time Uncle Joe fell asleep mid-sentence, no memory is too big or small to make the cut. First, students will put their storytelling hats on, probably stretchy ones to accommodate post-Thanksgiving feast bellies, and write about a memory that makes them smile, laugh, or even drool a little. Was it the parade, a backyard football game, or sneaking the first bite of dessert? This writing prompt gets their creative juices flowing faster than cranberry sauce out of a can. Once the words are on the page, it’s time to bring the memory to life with a colorful drawing. Turkeys with personality, pies with sparkle, and family portraits (possibly featuring stick figures) turn the story into a visual masterpiece. This activity isn’t just fun, it’s a great way for kids to practice descriptive writing and reflect on what makes Thanksgiving truly special. Bonus: it’s calorie-free, but just as satisfying as a second helping of stuffing! Enjoy!

Bring on the Thanksgiving Color by Number fun, where crayons meet comedy! These five pages are packed with festive designs like turkeys who forgot it’s November, pumpkins vying for pie stardom, and a cornucopia so full it’s practically saying, “Don’t judge me, it’s the holidays.” Each section is labeled with a number, and each number matches a color, simple, right? Unless you’re that one kid who insists on making the turkey purple because, and I quote, “It’s my artistic vision.” And honestly, who are we to argue? As your students work through these pages, they’ll unveil cheerful Thanksgiving scenes without even realizing they’re practicing focus and color-matching skills. It’s educational, but let’s keep that between us, no need to ruin the fun with big words. Whether it’s coloring a pumpkin the perfect shade of orange or accidentally turning a pie into an unintentional masterpiece, these pages are guaranteed to deliver laughs and creativity. No stress, no prep, and no arguments over who gets the last crayon. Just good old-fashioned fun—well, as old-fashioned as numbered coloring can get. World Cup 2026 USA Pennant Banner I printed these pennants when my class started mentioning the World Cup. I wasn’t planning a full activity, but I wanted something small to reflect what was already on their minds. Some students colored the black-and-white version, others just helped cut and assemble. It worked well without taking much time. After that, I hung the banner across the board. It stayed up for a while and didn’t interfere with regular lessons. The design is simple, which I prefer for seasonal decorations. It’s visible, but not distracting. This is a printable PDF. You can print the colored version or let students personalize the pages. Then connect the pennants with string or ribbon. I usually don’t laminate unless I want to reuse it the following year. I’ve used similar decorations in upper elementary grades, though it would also work with older students during tournament weeks. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from @Lernfitness
