Stealing Social Story

Stealing Social Story
Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Social Skills, Life Skills, Not Grade Specific,

Social story to support children who have been stealing from others to help them understand that it is inappropriate, it encourages them to ask others if they can borrow things that they like the look of but helps them understand that it must be returned and that they cannot just take things without asking first. The point of a social story is to use a patient and reassuring tone to teach children about social situations in a way that can be easily understood. Social stories can be useful for any child who is struggling to understand a situation or concept or needs help to understand a social skill or social cue, expectations, perspectives, common responses or is troubled about an upcoming event but social stories are particularly useful for children on the autistic spectrum for whom social cues can be challenging and who often suffer anxiety if they do not know what to expect from a situation. These books should be used over and over to reinforce the point so I would suggest either putting the pages into a display book or laminating and binding them. Included is a 15 page PDF social story Clipart images courtesy of Kari Bolt Clip Art

Dividing Fractions

Dividing Fractions
Math, Fractions, Multiplication and Division, Grade 5, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

The division of fractions combines several concepts. These worksheets focus on: 1. Converting between fractions and mixed numbers 2. Finding the largest common factor for fraction simplification 3. Applying the keep-change-flip method for fraction division The keep-change-flip approach, also known as the reciprocal method, is the core strategy for dividing fractions. Here's how it works: 1. Keep the first fraction as is 2. Change the division sign to multiplication 3. Flip the second fraction (find its reciprocal) This method works because dividing by a fraction is equivalent to multiplying by its reciprocal. The Worksheet Sets are as follows 1. Divide two Integers - This is to introduce and practice the keep-change-flip method in a simple context You then move step by step as follows 2. Divide an Integer by a Proper Fraction 3. Divide a Proper Fraction by an Integer 4. Divide two Proper Fractions 5. Divide two Fractions - Proper and Improper The accompanying guide explains the reasoning behind the keep-change-flip strategy, providing context and meaning to the process. This set of resources will form the basis of a further set of worksheets that focuses on dividing mixed numbers (also called mixed fractions). How many Worksheets in each Set ? Almost unlimited At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time. This will allow you to create as many new worksheets you will need for practice throughout the year (classwork, homework, revision, fillers etc) or even give small groups of students in your class different sets of questions either at the same level or differentiated. There will certainly be enough to ensure fluency in this topic. As these worksheets need little explanation, they are ideal if you need to leave work for a replacement teacher. Answers can be found on the second page of every worksheet, automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. Note These resources are PDF documents and work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers with the randomising buttons also working via a touchscreen (PC or Mac) or on an Interactive Whiteboard.

Multi Step Word problems: Interpret the Remainder
Math, Multiplication and Division, Multiplication, Grade 4, 5, 6, Activities

What does understanding the quotient really mean? How can students apply the quotient and its remainder in different ways to better understand and solve word problems? Use these FOUR strategies that work for all multi step word problems to interpret remainder after you’ve divided. Mastering the skill of interpreting remainders requires consistent practice. Using these 20 examples, available in both color and black & white, teachers will be able to help students in honing this skill. Each example presents a real-world scenario where students must decide how to use the remainder…. Or if it is used at all. Each question prompts a different response. Will they choose to increase the quotient with the remainder? Convert the remainder into a fraction? Use only the quotient, disregarding the remainder? Or solely rely on the remainder itself? These examples cover all possible approaches. Additionally, comprehensive notes and differentiated activities are provided to support students in understanding the decision-making process regarding remainders. Through this resource, students will: · Engage in multi-digit long division practice. · Learn to interpret remainders using various strategies. · Refer to mini "cheat sheets" on each page to aid decision-making. By applying these strategies to solve real-world math problems, students will decide whether to: · Utilize only the quotient. · Consider only the remainder. · Increase the quotient. · Transform the remainder into a fraction. These relatable real-world problems will keep students invested and engaged in their learning process. How to use this resource: · Set up stations around the classroom. · Implement as math centers . · Assign as homework or classwork. · Facilitate group work activities. · Provide additional practice when standard math curriculum falls short.

Sight Word Fluency Packet - long - These sight word worksheets encourage all students to practice sight word reading fluency for the target sight word. There are three different fluency practice pages that all focus on learning to recognize, spell, and read the target sight word in context. Allowing students to practice the sight word in context gives students the ability to connect the sight word's meaning and grammatical usage to help gain a greater understanding of the target word. Each passage repeats the target word multiple times for extra practice with the word. Students will practice reading, writing, reading comprehension, and spelling high frequency words with these fluency pages. Included in this sight word fluency packet: * One reading fluency page that contains a single passage for students to read and find the sight word. * One write and read fluency page where students will write the target sight word and then read the passage. * One read, write, and draw fluency page where students will read a sentence, copy the sentence then draw a picture to illustrate the sentence. When can these be used? * Literacy activities * Independent Reading Practice * Small group activities * Shared or Partner reading activities * Homework * Morning Work * Emergency sub plans * Extra reading practice The reading fluency page and the write and read page include the same passage and is the perfect way to differentiate between students who need to focus on just recognizing the word while reading and those who need more practice with writing and spelling the sight word in the correct context. These sight word pages are no prep. Teachers only need to print the pages and hand them to the students to read and complete. This packet focuses on the sight word: long.
