Final & Medial Consonants - Phonics Practice Simplified
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Preschool, Grade 1, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

This primary phonics-based resource is designed for grades Kindergarten to 1. Final & Medial Consonants uses visual clues and context clues to recognize consonant sounds at the end of words and in the middle of words. Reading is a crucial skill for all primary students. Phonics provides the building blocks for these early readers. Sounding out the words students are learning helps them to become independent readers. Students will understand that long and short vowels have different sounds. They will learn that different sounds are spelled differently. They will recognize consonants and how they can be used to create new sounds. For example, two consonants together can make one sound; whereas those same consonants separately will make a different sound. This program will not only encourage young readers to form these sound relationships, but also form the foundation to become successful readers.

SH Phonics Workbook Reading Made Simple
Phonics, Language Development, ELA, Spelling, Kindergarten, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Reading Made Simple — Free SH Phonics Workbook These little workbooks have been a quiet favourite with families using Reading Made Simple for some time now. Each one focuses on a single sound and prints on just one sheet of A4 paper — double-sided, folded in half to make a neat A5 booklet that children can hold and work through at their own pace. They are entirely optional. The phonics programme works perfectly well without them, but many parents and teachers find them a useful companion — either as structured practice or simply as a source of ideas to dip into when needed. Tested by real children: One 5-year-old user is quoted as having said, 'The worksheet is the best bit of my lessons!' Other parents have noted that their child likes the worksheet because 'they think it is easy'. When learning is broken down into small, achievable steps, with no curve balls to throw them off track, every child can say, 'I can read!' When I hear these reviews, I know that I have succeeded in my aim to write a phonics curriculum that can help children of all abilities learn to read and spell. These little workbooks are just one small part of what there is to offer. Please do check out the website for more information. Each workbook offers a gentle mix of activities built around the target sound. Children will read short passages that practise the new sound alongside words from sounds already taught, track and identify the sound within words to support both reading and spelling, practise spelling and sentence writing, and work through simple editing exercises where they spot and correct mistakes. These small editing tasks are particularly worthwhile — they encourage children to look carefully at words rather than guessing from context. The workbooks are particularly well-suited to younger children just beginning their phonics journey, and to older children with special educational needs who are still building their foundational reading and spelling skills. That said, they will not suit every child. Some will find them too long, others too straightforward. Use your own judgement — pick the activities that fit, leave the rest, or set them aside entirely. There is no obligation and no right or wrong way to use them. To print: print double-sided, flipping on the short edge. Fold in half to create your A5 booklet. The answer page at the back is optional. One sheet of paper. One sound. Everything a child needs to practise, consolidate and grow in confidence.

This product's purpose is twofold: 1) introduce students to the propaganda and beliefs Americans held during the Cold War, 2) to provide a viewing guide with Cold War connections for Rocky IV. The movie “Rocky IV” was made in 1985 during a period of the Cold War when tensions were boiling between the United States and the Soviet Union (USSR). The film pits the world-boxing champion Rocky Balboa (an American) against the Russian, Ivan Drago (supported by the Soviet Union). The movie reflects Cold War attitudes and many people consider it propaganda intended to portray the Soviet Union as evil and as cheaters. During the movie, the American hero Rocky is able to overcome the odds against him and not only defeat the bigger, stronger Russian, but also win over the people of the Soviet Union at the same time. As students watch the movie, they will be asked to analyze some of the situations in the movie using thier “Cold War” glasses (there are a total of five Cold War connections). The movie is more than just a boxing drama; it is a movie about the major attitudes and beliefs Americans held during the Cold War. In short, the movie encapsulates some of the fears that Americans held about the Soviet Union. Lastly, after the movie you will be asked to make some connections to the Cold War conflicts and to use supporting evidence from the movie to justify your answers.

This resource was developed to PARTIALLY meet the requirements of the 7th Grade Number Systems Standards below. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.NS.A.1 Apply and extend previous understandings of addition and subtraction to add and subtract rational numbers; represent addition and subtraction on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.NS.A.1.A Describe situations in which opposite quantities combine to make 0.For example, a hydrogen atom has 0 charge because its two constituents are oppositely charged. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.NS.A.1.B Understandp+qas the number located a distance |q| fromp, in the positive or negative direction depending on whetherqis positive or negative. Show that a number and its opposite have a sum of 0 (are additive inverses). Interpret sums of rational numbers by describing real-world contexts. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.NS.A.1.C Understand subtraction of rational numbers as adding the additive inverse,p-q=p+ (-q). Show that the distance between two rational numbers on the number line is the absolute value of their difference, and apply this principle in real-world contexts*
