PR Blend Find and Colour Phonics Worksheet to Develop Phonemic

This PR fun, Find and Color worksheet for initial blends is excellent for acquainting children orally with initial consonant blends and helping them develop the necessary phonemic awareness in preparation for more advanced blending work, involving four phonemes. What is included in the pack? One PDF sheet for the PR blend. This is a sample of our pack of 20 activities covering common initial blends which can be found here in one PDF file: less clutter on your computer! What do the worksheets involve? Pupils are instructed to combine the two letters on the worksheet and then look for objects that start with that consonant blend. Then, these items ought to be coloured, leaving the others uncoloured. Children can easily work on the sheet unaided once they have been instructed, although, with those children with special needs, it is strongly suggested that an adult works with the child for maximum benefit. How to use The introduction of the concept of initial blends needs to be done thoroughly. When I work with children, especially those with a special need, I first like to teach children to blend two consonant letters. Then I work on developing the children's phonemic awareness: that being the ability to hear two consonant letters blended at the beginning of a word, easily. This is difficult for some pupils and takes a lot of practice. These worksheets can assist by first encouraging students to blend the two consonant letters and then by helping them to hear the blend at the start of a word. As often as you can, practice blending the letters in each initial blend and encourage the students to follow suit. I find that modelling is key at this stage. Who are the initial blends Find and colour worksheets for? Young learners Those with a special need Due to their non-babyish nature , they can be successfully used with older ESL/EFL pupils. Answer keys: The answer key is included on the sheet, in small print.

Learn Initial Sounds H: Lesson 8 teaches the letter Hh and its related phonic sound through a 23-slide PowerPoint lesson, 5 follow-up activity worksheets and a print-and-play game. All you need to teach the phonic letter F! Whether in school or at home, this series of phonic presentations can help you effectively teach initial/beginning sounds to all pupils, including those with special needs/dyslexia. This lesson is part of a synthetic, systematic phonics programme for all abilities including those suspected of being dyslexic. This lesson is in the first stage of the Reading Made Simple programme where we teach the initial, or beginning, sounds. The ability to hear the initial/beginning sound is stressed throughout, while we learn to associate each letter with its sound. Each lesson can stand alone but the activities will presume knowledge of the previous letters in the alphabet as Reading Made Simple teaches the initial sounds in alphabetical order. Beware that these are made with color, so in order to be eco-friendly you might want to use black and white ink. Once the students have taken these lists home, they can do the vocabulary test in their next class. They can practice with the words by utilizing the included flash cards. This 'NG Endings' digraph PowerPoint is a taught lesson especially suitable for those who have special needs or need a slower pace. Special features of the 'NG' PowerPoint lesson No words are introduced that cannot be sounded out, except common the sight words a, the and have. It does however presume that the child can blend both CVC words and consonant blend words with a short vowel sound, like pond. and words with CK . There are no distractions for the special needs child to have to 'block out' before s/he can learn - no jingly music, no comic pictures. Nothing moves quickly. Everything is explained very simply. Sound buttons are provided for use if necessary. What is included in/with the 'NG' Digraph PowerPoint ? This 'NG' PowerPoint is a narrated lesson. The PowerPoint format means that you can go at a pace suitable for your pupils. It is just like having your own phonics teacher! There are 46 slides. We begin by introducing 'NG'. The PowerPoint then goes on to help the child to sound out words with 'NG' with the short vowels 'a', 'i', and 'o'. This is followed by some tracking exercises - short sentences where the pupil is asked to spot the 'NG' sound in the words before reading each sentence. The PowerPoint finishes with our 'star' for good effort which children love! How can the ‘NG' PowerPoint be used? This printable sieve of Eratosthenes is 400 numbers long (instead of the usual 100). The Sieve of Eratosthenes is a good way to find small prime numbers. It goes as follows: 1. Cross out number 1 2. Circle next number that is not crossed out (the first one is 2) 3. Cross out numbers that are divisible by number you just circled Repeat faces 2 and 3 until there are nothing but primes left. This longer version gives interested students a possibility to examine further, how much prime numbers there are when we go further with the natural numbers. (This is interesting, because it kind of connects very simple school math with higher level mathematics. If students want to examine further, for example from Wikipedia, they will realize that the density of prime numbers (prime number theorem) is something that a number of very skilled mathematicians have spent countless hours with. Of course, knowing the first prime number is essential to survive with more complicated fractions in secondary mathematics (or higher). That way, faster students can find all the primes lower than 400 in the same time when some students may be able to find only the smaller ones. Each of these student groups will at the end of the day benefit from it. This one is free! The pdf is not editable and most suitable for printing and then doing with pencil and paper. This goes with different grade levels from upper elementary to high school.
